Lei's Big Huge Log

I was taught most of what I know and practice today by various teachers, from instructors hailing from the Shaolin Temple to my uncle. Don't be so impressed though, there's about three people whom I accredit to my skills.

ps, Thanks, I thinks she's pretty crazy too, I just like to tell her from time to time.

Also, thanks Russ, glad to see you're back.

LOL, it's just that when I drop the Shaolin titles, people get all excited and start presuming all these things...

I just try to keep things down to earth.

Curious, what have you trained in?

For the record... Iii think Leiyunfat is awwesome!.. he's only 18! ..

Lotus, you're insane. Most of my lifting promotes neuromusclar strength more than hypertrophy. My ROM for all my bodyparts have either stayed the same or gotten better. I only now have trouble stretching my triceps behind by back by touching my palms because my deltoids are like tennis balls.

I've gotten faster, stronger, bigger, and better since I began my log, there is no doubt in my mind at all.

But you're right. I haven't done much of my forms and ma since I've gotten into lifting, but that's okay because as you are probably aware (apparently since you know about everything else I've ever said, ever), I have no instructor. But what I do know are basics. Basics that I'm good at, with regards to my current situation (I also have no training partner, so block, joint lock, chi sau, and sparring drills are all out.).

nueromuscular strength is a myth Leiyunfat!! ..

what ii hear you say when say that is ... memory of .. working your as* off thus far!:) .. pain tolerance and abilty to push through it atm is more important than how big you are. and considering the speed and awareness it encourages , isn't sooo bad Leiyunfat.

Upping your workout integrity and pain threshold and dig deepedness has nOthing to doo with who you're sparring or who your current sigung or shifu is or whether you see them or not! Look at Doc and how often he sees DeCheng !!..It has to do with how far you know and are comfortable with digging... you don't need aanyone to improve on that and frankly.. I think it's bvest you do that privately when you can reeally zen on it undisturbed anyway!.. It is thee most important bit!.

P.s. I do nOt know you that well!!!..

Please have more. .unless you don't want to.

Blooming tianshi Lotus.

p.s. check out the Bruce lee thread about how to measure speed and how to improve it..
there are as many benifits of being so crazily wide perspectived as buggers about it !;). :).

Derwyydon:- do we knOw you by any chance?????? :/...!?

You're saying the reason I can lift more weight is because I'm able to put up with the pain more?

That seems to have a lot to do with the CNS and how well I am able to precieve pain and what not. In your world, that's what it might be. In mine, it means that I am able to more effectively use my neural connections and muscles, due to heavy lifting.

My cultivation and elimination of self has been worked on. I've since forgone much of the traditional meditation methods in favor of other things...but that doesn't mean I'm still not working on it. This subject can get really abstract and really ugly really fast, so that's all I'm going to say on the matter.

Man you are phylosophocal (if thats how you spell it) Nice set up by the way Ill bet your looking forward to getting back in that weights room. I like the fact that your outside the square man keep it real

Okay, now I'm impressed.

OWNED. I was using the squat program sent to me by Evo:

Monday Competition Squat
warm-up: 6 @ 105lbs (50% TFmax), 4 @ 135lbs (65% TFmax)
work sets: 7x2 @ 155lbs (75% TFmax), 1 @ 165lbs (80% TFmax)
Bench Press
Paused Competition Squat
warm-up: 6 @ 105lbs (50% TFmax), 5 @ 135lbs (65% TFmax)
work sets: 2x3 @ 135lbs (67% TFmax)
Bench Press assistance
Ab work
But this whole time, I thought it was reps x set...it's the other way around.

Owned.

Anyway, I basically did this (reps x set)

Back Squat
warm-up: 6 @ 115lbs (50% TFmax), 4 @ 135lbs (65% TFmax)
work sets: 7x2 @ 155lbs (75% TFmax), 1 @ 165lbs (80% TFmax)

Single arm db swing
5 @ 45
5 @ 60
3x3 @ 70

Pause squat
warm-up: 4 @ 115lbs
work sets: 2x3 @ 135lbs

You're saying ...........

, so that's all I'm going to say on the matter.

yah. that iis what I'm saying. . I just think that besides lifting reeally heavy weights, there's sooo many ways that getting out there and into life andtraining other ways that does that for us aswell... and for myself, although appreciated as the recent at work weight lifting constitution was for something novel against the men and size I was lifting against ( including their lifestyles and budgets and dietary needs for activity and how well they can meet them and their personal situations and so on ), probably usually much much better.

I don't really want to get into that any deeper than we already cover at Russbo ( or did when I still posted there) neither so cheers and happy to leave it at ;).

P.s. and just so you know,.. i could still kick youur as* should you try anything :).

back to your journal now.

I've been "training" since I was 12. Granted, the type of training changed every few years, but I feel that they relatively built on eachother, or add to eachother...some more than others.

LOL, that would be awesome to this day, I don't know what you're talking about...

Digging holes, too...I think it would be freakin sweet if we dig a big ass hole and then chopped down a tree that would land into that hole.

I've been lurking in this thread for a while now...just wanted to say that your workouts are awesome. I love the seemingly-freestyle approach. It's such a contrast to the way I train. The persistence in simply pursuing performance rather than numbers or the "recommended" training method.

I also enjoy the fact that you (subtly) emphasize the importance of the mind-self connection in relation to the physical strength of the body.

That's all. Carry on. ^_^

Thanks...but power cleans are sex!
