Journey, Not A Destination

Hello Steve,
Welcome and well done!

Personally and I have noticed generally too, that having clear cut goals helps performance.

As for motivation, your ultimate goal of being at your healthy weight and looking your best and having minimum or no health concerns is great incentive!

Take care!

In my experience ultimate goals aren't *enough* to motivate people. They're too distant and surreal to impact everyday-consistency.

Yesterdays training included 20 min on the elliptical at about 150 bpm and 3 sets of barbell complexes which included RDLs, bentover rows, hang cleans, push presses, hang snatches and front squats.

Ass kicker... let me tell you.

This is my week off from any training. Giving my joints a rest as they've been a bit achy. Been catching up on a lot of reading I've been pushing off, which is refreshing. Also awaiting the big snow storm that's supposedly going to hit us tomorrow evening.

Should make for a fun Saturday!

So my wife had her 20 wk ultrasound yesterday. I had no idea how far technology has come in terms of detailed imaging. Check them out:

Thanks!

So I snapped some pics of all the fun I've been having in the snow with my pup. Last Saturday we were nailed with 2 feet. Then on Wednesday we were nailed with over 2 more feet. Awesome!

Curls for the girls

Nothing terribly new to report. I suppose the big excitement is I'm in the process of planning the construction of a home gym. Going all out with this and can't wait to get started. The official process begins this weekend when I start cleaning out my current workshop. But the planning has been going on for the past month as I've developed a list of items I'd like in the gym as well as their prices.

Wife and baby are doing fine... we're well past the halfway point so the clock is winding down.

I received some frustrating news yesterday from my doc. I tested positive for rheumatoid arthritis. I'll be seeing a rheumatologist next month to learn more.

holy crap at those pics! that's a whole lot better than the blurring i had for my baby scans!
Bugger about the rheumatoid arthritis. Its sucky when things like that hold you back. I just recently had to give up running/walking and accept my knee is totally stuffed. At least in my case i can do the cycling still.

Hi Liz... yeah, I was blown away by the clarity of those pictures.

As for the RA, it's looking like it won't limit me too much. At least that's what I'm hoping. A lot of the preliminary research I've done indicates strength training isn't contraindicated.

It's early yet though... I don't get in to see the rheumatologist for another few weeks.

OMG Steve! That is so cool. It's all about to happen. Looking forward to your next update.
