jon's life of lifting

LOLL thats crazy.
i dont have that huge of an appetite i guess hahaha.
im 165 now, going down to 160, maybe 155. i think my ideal weight is 170, very lean, very strong, maybe 180 tops. im 5"9' so thats probably why ha

what is your ideal weight?

Haha, yeah, my advantage is I don't need to go through the hell of dieting but I also doubt I'll ever abs as defined as yours.

I think I'd ideally like to get up to about 250lbs one day and start doing strongman comps. Thankfully abs aren't exactly required for that and I'm too old to worry about impressing young ladies now (unless I want to attract police attention), I just need to get my grip up to speed and work on my OH pressing

If you hit 180lbs at 5'9" with your current BF% you'll look pretty big though, close to BB proportions. Even if I got up to 250lbs in the next couple of years I'd imagine my BF would be at about 25% by then so definition wouldn't be great

yeah thats true...i really have to work more on my OH pressing, its a very fun exercise. i still think a lot about when im going to hit 135 for 5x5 on military press(no leg drive), i think il get it in my next bulking session : ]

that and my benching is being so annoying. im sick of being at 180 5x5... im going to hit the triceps really hard and consistant to get that bench up...its my most annoying lift nowadays. -_-

took it easy with the floor presses, as i have a benching movement 3 days a week now. incline monday, flat wednesday and floor press fri. anyone think that is too much?

PWO: oj and whey, 310 calories

cutting is going great, i feel better than i have in a long time! so much for the 10 day trail of carb depletion! i feel amazing.
eating around 2000-2300 a day, with exercise. i think my MT is 2600, maybe 2700 or 2800 with exercise.
end of week 2 of the cut coming up. cant wait until end of month 1!

Looks like I missed the first airing but MTV 2 is airing the Ulimate Parkour (free running)challenge on 11/07 at 11:20pm eastern time(Comcast ch 273)

Nice squats. Can't wait till I get to 225. Don't think I will get as low on the reps as you though. Too risky I think.

edit: what % of you max are you doing on the squats in your last workout?

:) Love that Shuffle! Your gym set up is so hard core OLD School! Ahnnnnold would feel completely at home there.

I agree about the gymnastics being awesome. One of the women I compete with is encouraging me to pick up the fitness stuff with all of that incorporated and when I told her I thought I was too old she informed me she learned to flip and do all the other acrobatics at 38! Limited only by our minds. :D

Shuffling looks like a lot of fun and great cardio.

Yes, benching 3x a week is too much in my opinion; twice a week is good. Everyone is different and it seems like you have a really good recovery system so 3 times might work for you but I know it does not for me at all.

Have a good week man.

JMAN, that is anywhere from 85% to 90% of my max. if you wanna do 6x2, start with 85 then work up : ]]]]

PB works at 2% of his max for all his lifts. There aren't enough weights in the state of FL to load up even 80% of his squat.
epic lulz! haha really, i feel like my squat should be a lot higher. im trying to practice ripptoe's "hip drive" form to get more weight on, but it takes practice. i might start back squatting 2 times a week, front 1. but on deadift day, that can be kinda crazy.
i really have been at max 300 for a while now, and its about time i bring out the bag of tricks to blast by that...and that doesnt include over-reaching routines that i'v been trying to use for a year now. theyr good for building up to a powerlifting event or something, but the gains somewhat diminish.
slow steady gains ftw i guess

the "bag of tricks" as of now probably is going to consist of a lot more goodmornings, RDL's, hip drive squats, and front squats. might put in box squats too, but that whole "speed work" thing didnt go so well when i tried it -__________-

thanks for the comment though...lulz

seriosly! thankyou! i thought i was old to start at 18 LOL kuz a lotta kids start at like 3 haha. its really fun, just awesome exercise too. i really like training on the pullup bars and parallel bars..there are so many exercises to do on those 2 devices!!! great core strength and upper body strength can be achieved with that alone...

and yeah, i love the old school setup of gyms, ghetto ways to workout are the best. i was going to make my own squat rack too but my pops bought me one for christmas lol

thanks for the stop by mel! :D :D : D DDDDDDDDDD

tic, i also think that bench 3 times a week is too much, but considering that only 1 is flat bench and the other 2 are incline and floor press, il think il try it b/c like u said i can recover well : ]

i feel more "in shape". as in not losing breath as easily, feeling lighter in my feet, etc. i feel much more efficient.

also, i have learned to keep strength training strength training. 60 sec rest time wont account for true strength training. therefore i raised rest back to 90-120 sec and left the metabolic training for off days when i do my curcuits.
gotta keep those weigts up!

thanks for the comments, everyone. i have a midterm exam today in anatomy lab!

Good work PB. Glad you are maintaining your strength so far. I'm also happy you are feeling a change in your body. So am I, in an opposite fashion ha. It's going to piss me off when you post your before/afters and look good, I'm going to want to cut right then and there instead of bulking for another few months haha. Anyways, keep it up!
