Took the words right out of my mouth. Was Steve a good guy? Probably. Was he a nice guy? Probably. But his way of giving advice had a way of making people feel stupid and belittled. He was blunt, which some people like and others don't. People who like that can go to his forum and get the type of advice they like...people who don't can now post without worrying (I hope) about being told they're idiots for believing or thinking the way they do, or having their own opinions and thoughts argued with incessantly.

Well I'm glad that someone telling you that you are an idiot helped you. Me personally I don't respond well to being mentally abused.
I'm not sure how many web forums you visit, but I will be 100% honest with you.. when someone believes you that you are being dumb, a lot of times, they aren't always nice.. sorry to burst your happy bubble, but it's the truth.
But now that Steve is gone, mabye everyone will look at the forum through Rose colored glasses.

Steve never ever told me I was stupid or an idiot anything else of the kind. At any rate, I'm totally gonna take all the abuse he wants to inflict on me --since he is the only one that controls my actions or reactions to what he says..
I take shit with a grain of salt.. call me dumb, or call me sensical.. don't believe everything you see or hear or read because you don't always have the full story.
and ya know, that's what I'm gonna do. I don't have All the full story, so I'll leave this thread at that..
I still appreciate everythign Steve has put into this.. and will continue to do so in the future!

See she didn't say anything about Steve being wrong. All she was saying is that there are better ways of educating someone than to tell the they are stupid. Its all about how you present your self and I thought we all learned that from Educator. Even if you have good advice to give if you start out with insulting someone they're not gonna listen to the good advice you can offer. If you went on a job interview and told the person interviewing you that they were stupid because they misunderstood something you said you wouldn't get the job. Its the same in the rest of the world. You have to come at some people a bit softer than others.

This forum was never about weight loss for anyone who was serious about it. This forum was about a better life; food, fitness, maintenace, and the whole package.
Steve should not have been banned. He was a valuable member to the community and offered very good advice to many people here.

With any and all problems I had with a lot of things Steve said to people, I also must admit that he DID go above and beyond the call of duty. Like I said, whether people liked the way he gave advice or not....he gave it freely and a LOT. He did do more for this site and people who visit it than a lot of people have (myself included).
He did keep things interesting around here, that's for sure...

I liked him just fine, thanks.
But I didn't rely on his advice alone.
He was a good read, very informative. But for me personally he wasn't why I was here. And I'm sure others arn't here because of him either.
I'm not pleading for him to come back, why?
Cause he's doing real well on his own forum, he has free range of what he wishes to do and say over there, he's not sitting below someone elses rules.

Unfortunately, that's not actually true. If you want HIGH quality health and fitness information, you're not going to find it on either of those sites. I can count on one hand the number of members on those forums that actually know what they are talking about and they often don't post that much because of the flack the members give them. Kinda like what happened here ...
