And Dallen; I believe in everything our country has to say also so your not crazy When the plede of alligence goes on in our school; and I am in the middle of the hallway I stop; I can't believe some kids keep walking. Yes, I guess I am a sheep. If my country just stated they believe flies are no longer neccessary for this earth, then I will be out there slapping flies. If answering the call of your country is being a sheep, then I guess I would be a sheep. When you get called for draft or you join the military, it's not about what you believe in, it's about what your country believes in.

Ah yes, I was pretty loud during that time. In grade school, I used to be so quiet and during reading times, I would be talking so low, no one would hear me. So the teacher knew I would say the Pledge at full voice, so she would encourage me to read like I was saying the Pledge.

I knew this would come up. But honestly, I think at this point I'm going to stop my argument because this would be back-and-forth in manners such as this. I will honestly say though, that if my country asked me for draft, no matter what the issue was at hand, I would go. It's not about yourself, it's about country, duty, and service. I doubt people will understand though. I love my country, and would be glad to fight for it no matter what the issue was. Too bad about my hearing though.

Nope. women don't get drafted.

It is also very unlikely that men will get drafted for military service in the US. Having a draft for a very unpopular war is politically radioactive, and peacetime needs of the armed forces in the US were in the last decade easily met by all volunteer military service. (Some politicians have advocated mandatory military service for reasons other than the needs of the armed forces, but few share their views.)

Yes on War of 1812, no on Spanish American War. The Spanish American War was built on a lie - that the USS Maine was mined.

I am very cynical anything our government does. As far as I'm concerned they can't even wipe their own ass without hiring some think tank or committee to do it.

But if it came down to protecting our borders or our way of life I would be all for it. Take 9/11 for example. We were attacked and I was all for going after Bin Laden. But I'm totally against what we are doing in Iraq. Its a total police action. But I fully support the men and women going over there and giving life and limb.

The government is only out for special interest and for the better of the individuals in power. The idea of "for the people" was crushed decades ago.
If the us government said to kill members of a certain race I would be leading the revolution to overthrow those that are giving that direction.

With no question, I will go immedietely. Even though I do not agree with some of the USA policies, I would fight for my country anyday. Our soldiers are getting killed everyday to help promote democracy and they also get killed everyday so we can have our basic rights protected. Even if THEY themeselves don't agree with the policies set forth by our nation; they fight with courage anyway. By serving in the draft I would be able to return the favor. And if I died in that war; it would bring my family honor.

I could not believe how many cowards in that thread said they would move to Mexico or Canada or some other country. What a bunch of pansies.

And they tell me to open my eyes about the war? pfff.

Again, I will die for my country anyday. I support our troops weather we agree with what there doing or not. For you guys that are not Americans; I hope you would do the same for your country.

The day this happens is the end of democracy as we know it. The UN are already starting to appease countries and dictators which they should really act upon. Zimbabwe being a main point. Really Iran should be an ant to America.
