Hello everyone. So today I found out i should receive my meal plan well by today but probably tomorrow since they only deliver mail twice a week. I must say I have been extremely excited for the past 2 weeks to lose weight.
Alot of things have caused my weight gain.
When I was 14 I had a tonsillectomy that went wrong. Needless to say I lost alot of blood and went down to my lowest ever of 100 lbs. And once I started recovering I ballooned to 150 lbs. Than when I was 17 I joined the Army and had some issues. Had 2 heat strokes... :ack2: And well got sick and gained weight again... up to 180 lbs this time. Then when 18 got married and age 19 got pregos that cause me to get to 242 lbs. Mind you I lost the 42 lbs but its been bothersome to lose more.
No matter what I do. So i have finally got tired of all the skinny people in my family :nopity: and decided to lose these 80-100 pounds.
So well here I am. Im trying to lose this weight get to running around with my baby and just being a woman who isnt afraid of who she is.
Well sorry for the long story but hey I like back stories so I figured I'd write mine.
Hope all is well.
Be back when I officially start.

Hi Yukio & welcome to the forum. Thanks for sharing your story. If you have a look at mine you won't apologise for typing too much in yours hehe! We love hearing new stories & basically we are all on the same journey but have come from a different starting point or catalyst. I look forward to hearing about your journey, cheers, Cate.

Yuki - Welcome! It's really good to actually sort out in our heads all the things that have contributed to us putting on weight - helps us gradually deal with issues as we can. Whatever the reasons, Cohen's is a sure way to start reversing the process! If you do exactly what they say, the weight will take care of itself.

Get lots of rest, study up on the plan and just stick with it, and you will start seeing your life turn around very quickly.

Wow. you were able to lost 42lbs! That is fantastic!

I know what you mean by skinny people in the family. I am the heaviest in my family. My father has diabetes so he lost a lot of weight due to it. My mum and my brother have the skinny genes so they never put on much. I have my father's fat genes but I certainly do not wish to wait till I get diabetes to slim down. My friends around me are also mostly skinny or slim.

Fornight thanks much for helping me to realize im not the only one. My grandpa has diabetes and lost over 100lbs so that kinda made me depressed. I use to be small for my mums side of the family and small for my dads but now i getting to were im average and dont like that to much lol. But hey im not putting them down or anything its just I know its not for me.

Niyah 01 and Cate thanks much for welcoming me. Im so excited. Have to admit somethings lately have distracted me from mentally preparing myself for the meal plan but im back on track.

I received my meal plan today and its pretty cool. I will start in 3 days as I work 3 stressful days and I dont think it would be a good start for me. Not a good idea lol. But on another note. Already did a week out of the meals and then I will buy everything tomorrow measure it up and cook up what I can that way I can just heat it up. Hopefully:reddevil:
Im so ready.
My goal weight is between 53 kilos and 57 kilos and at the moment I weight I think about 95 or 96 kilos:ack2::ack2: But hopefully I will get it down soon.
What is bad is that My anniversary is in 2 and a half weeks and I wont be going out or anything... Good ole movie and some waters lol.
Well be back with stats on one of these days here soon.
Thanks again for the welcome. >.<

Yuki

Don't stress too much about the anniversary - you get used to planning things that don't necessarily revolve around eating lots. You can have a nice evening in lots of other ways. The temporary sacrifice is really well worth it - you will be proud of yourself when you see the weight going, and your husband will get the best anniversary gift ever when he sees your shrinking body!!!

After a while on Cohen's, it really stops bothering you whether everyone else is eating... but in the early days, be very, very cautious because it's easy to give in for emotional reasons.

There will still be food to enjoy when you've done the bulk of Cohen's and live in maintenance land. That's what I say to myself every time I see a feast of some sort - "Is this the last cream cake the world's got? Will there still be cakes in 6 months' time??". Now, cream cakes don't bother me AT ALL...

Maybe you can organise a nice day out somewhere that involves fun but not food for the moment.

You right. I was thinking a movie. Havent been to one in like a year now haha. Long story but yeah. A movie and some cuddles Or buy some movies and cuddles lol. I think the thing that is going to bother me the most is actually eating. I dont really eat 3 meals a day.. .More like 1 and a possible lol. Bit I will get it eventually. Im going to take a week off of work so that I can give myself some time to adjust only because Its going to be hard because I work at Subway. Maybe 2 weeks. I need to get into the groove >.<:conehead:

Taking time off work, if you can do it, is a great idea. I know first time around, I really needed some stress-free days to get my head around it all. It rapidly becomes second nature, but that first month, it's worth being really concentrated on it.

It also helps having time to just rest up and not overdo things. Once the body gets into the groove, you feel like you can do anything, but takes a couple of weeks to really get into it.

Yeah I certainly will have to do that. Im trying to stay to it one hundred percent. I want to get it over and done with ... Im so trying to stay motivated 100% hopefully it will work. 2 weeks off work will certainly do that trick.
Do you mind telling me how much weight you lost at the 4 week and 8 week marker?? I cant find where I saw the average at.

Hi Yukio, It varies because of the different amounts that people have to lose but I had 36kgs to lose & lost 10kg first month & then 4-5kgs each month after that. It took me 28weeks to lose the 36kgs.
It's hard to imagine at the start as you see this big amount of weight to lose & it can be overwhelming but after a while it will become second nature. You will start to feel really good eating only Cohen's appproved food and if you follow the program 100% the weight will come off. As you lose weight you will feel better physically and mentally & that helps you stick to it. Always remember that-
Food will be available after you finish. They'll still be producing it.
'Nothing tastes as good as slim feels
You deserve to be slim & healthy. We all do.
The 3 meals a day is very important. Study your program really well & follow it to the letter. I did for the 28 weeks & read & re-read my program constantly. It's amazing what you miss or forget. It works. Cohen's has changed my life & I feel that by following the program I now have the best chance of being healthy & fit in my old age(I'm now 56)
Re: Your anniversary-A movie at home sounds good. The smell of popcorn might get to you! You will get used to organising non-food related outings & strategies to overcome temptations but at the start I would avoid situations that you feel may put you at risk of deviating from the program.
Cheers for now & again a big welcome to the forum, Cate.

Yuki, This time around I lost 8kg in the first month, then another 4kg in the second month, so that was 12kg in two months. Bear in mind that this second time around, I have not kept the program absolutely 100% - I know I lost it a tad quicker when I did the program the first time around because I was absolutely deviation free.

This time around, lots of issues that make it very difficult for me to do it perfectly, which I'm not proud about. For a long time, I waited for life to be "perfect" to start again, but finally, realising that wasn't going to happen, I'm doing the best I can in whatever circumstances I find myself in (I work extremely long hours, am not home a lot, don't get to shop much etc, so just have to "cope").

If you're like everyone else, you will lose it quickly the first few weeks, then slow down as the weight loss progresses. It's normal, so just accept the healthy eating and don't stress about the numbers on the scale. It's the clothes and the "new you" that are important - the weight will look after itself.

Hello everyone. Thanks for the support its much needed today. Today I started and Im 5 hours or so away from going to sleep for the first day is soon over. I will say I havent been hungry but I do have a horrible headache. Although Im not sure its because im going through withdrawals it will be ok. Im living. I decided not to take any meds for it though.
I realized last night that my multivitamin is the devil :reddevil:and has lactose and yeast and some other stuff in it. So i did not take a multi vitamin today. But that is ok. I will soon enough get the stuff I need. Ive stuck to it today although it has been hard. But I did get some Sprite Zero which is awesome cause I think that will help.
Overall headache but alive and I feel better about myself for actually doing this.
MIND OVER MATTER WOOT!!
I was wondering if anyone would mind telling me what multivitamin they use... Only because this multivitamin was the only one that I was able to find at the chemist...:willy_nilly:
Well hope all is well.
Thanks everyone again and I cant wait to lose that extra baby, sickness, army weight LOL:hat:

First time around I used Neways which I bought from the clinic. Was great. I used both the vitamin and the mineral supplements.

I would ask them what else they recommend these days - most vitamins have too much B6 which can stimulate the appetite, so Dr Cohen recommends to look for those with lower levels of this - can't remember which.

I won't tell you which one I'm on at the moment in case it's not on the current plan (I'm doing my old plan from 2005), but it's an expensive one. I go to a bulk discount chemist and get it there.

I'm also taking Spatone iron supplement - a water naturally high in iron which comes in a little sachet. That's because in spite of vitamins etc this time around I was very tired and looking quite anaemic. I feel much better on it.

I would just say - take the time to research their recommendations and get stocked up on supplements when you are able to because it does make a difference to how you will feel overall.

Great you've got through Day 1. The withdrawal headaches are horrible - nothing relieves them either. You may have it still tomorrow, but after that it should start easing. Just take it easy - if you have a bath or access to a spa, have one because you'll feel better. Rest up, and you'll get through this in a few days!!!

Ahh ok. I will call the consultant we have here. I havent talked to her before but I will give it a shot. These headaches are murder. But im thinking that Sprite Zero will help make me feel better. I have drank very little of it today and will stay way under the 1 liter max.
I hope the next couple of days do get easier.

I`m using Blackmores - Women`s vitalty multi, because it`s affordable, keeps me going, and doesn`t contain any yeast, lactose, gluten or sugar. I can recomend this one.
Don`t give up, keep going, your headache gonna go away tomorrow or after that. I`ve just completed my first week, so I still remember very-very sharp how I felt at the first 3 days...And don`t forget to drink, it helps reduce your ache as well! For me a very cold water (sip by sip) was great those days. :waving:

Ok im going to see if I can get them here. I live the middle of nowhere lol. Yeah headache sucks because my daughter is a very loud little one. Ughh... the screaming lol. But thanks I will try and get some on monday. As nothing out here stays open long on the weekends.

Yukio- I took the Blackmores when I was on Cohen's too but these days I take evidin, Women's multi-vitamin,as recommended to me by one of our local chemists who also happens to be a sports nutritionist. It is quite inexpensive (2 months supply for about $23) It does have 50mg of B6 but I have never had a problem with hunger, taking it. It does not have any Gluten, wheat or nut products, nor GMO ingredients, egg, yeast, salt, artificial flavours or colours, or dairy. He said he had taken the same multi vitamin for about 20 years & always researches new ones that come onto the market & decided that this one was better. It's a lot cheaper than most of them but with a good mix of vitamins & minerals.
Have you cut out coffee and tea cold turkey? If so perhaps wean yourself off caffeine a little slower & the headaches may subside. I have a plunger coffee every morning & herbal for the rest of the day. I would also take some paracetemol to help just for a while, especially before going to bed to help you get a better sleep. Sleep is so important for us all. I know you have a baby but please try to get as much rest as you can. Take care of yourself Yukio and I hope those headaches go back to where they came from! Cheers for now, Cate

Thanks Cate. I will certainly check into those. The headache today has subsided and I feel wired. I will take a nap this afternoon though. After I have lunch and stay up for 2 1/2 hours. Im trying to do really good. I made it through cooking my husband and my daughter a delicious meal. I wanted to eat it but got through it. I found another way to saute my vegg. So that is good I suppose lol.
Right now Im just thinking.... Hurry up first week lol. But after yesterday I think I can do anything.
One thing I did do that was bad was I couldnt stay up the 2 1/2 hours after eating last meal I only lasted 1 1/2 because of the headache. But i will do better today.:cheers2:
