She may have just been trying to be polite. I've done that before, but feel bad about it now. Twice I've had guys I'm not interested in just walk up and give me their number. I couldn't really refuse, so I was just polite and smiled. I never called either one, but I didn't have to deal with the face to face rejection thing.
You could try that tactic if you're up for that. Find a cute girl, start up a five minute conversation with her and give her your number. It's assertive and may put some girls off, but if you do it enough, chances are you'll get a call.

I agree with Karky. When a girl asks for your number and calls it to make sure you've got hers, while "waiting for her boyfriend", she's definitely interested. Call her up and ask her to the zoo or to play some mini golf or something. If necessary make it a mixer (a group thing) and see what happens. These be my advices. Try to make it clear her boyfriend is not invited, if he exists.

Take her for a drink RWS, thats what i always do (unless you dont drink). But if your going to do something id do it as soon as possible! Other wise one of you will just get bored and youll never end up meeting.
