HELP! Need a diet to lose weight, but havnt got a clue!

Well honestly i think that the reason why people are fat is not because they eat the wrong food, but because they dont exercise.
Well honestly, you're flat out wrong.

I do have to admit however that obviously diet does play a part, but only when it comes to people that are fat already and trying to lose weight, or people who eat what they want but DON'T exercise.
Again, you're wrong.

I came on this website looking for help because i'm sick and tired of trying to lose weight on different diets but none of them have worked, partly my fault.
So when people give you advice on why those diets haven't worked (btw, people who HAVE done it successfully) you ignore them and tell them you're going to go back to those diets that don't work.

I just got a little anoyed that people were kinda having a go at me, because i'm trying to lose weight
No, people are "having a go" at you because, as I said above, you flat out said you don't care about being healthy - you just want a quick fix.

You are taken over by that mindset that says: I want what I want and I want it now and I don't want to have to work for it or get it the right way - I just want a magic bullet.

You obviously don't understand that you don't get an "awesome body" by crash dieting and f'ing with your nutrition and your health.

Can i just say 'KaraCooks' i'm not looking for it NOW i'm looking to work my (insert swearword here) bum off to achieve the body i want. And in 5 months i dont have that body well then i'll continue after my holiday, but with less urgency. All your doing is basically making me feel pretty bad about wanting to lose weight. Isn't this website supposed to help you? And yes i accept that your trying to 'help' me in the long run, but i'm a firm believer that you only live once and that for all we know any one of us could be dead tomorrow (touch wood) so really to make me feel better about myself i do wanna lose weight in 5 months because like i said in 6 months anyone of us could be dead, so what would be the use of our body then.

ps. dont come back with the argument that 'by doing this you could kill youself in 6 months' because after my holiday of none stop drinking, i'll be lucky to be able to stand us haha

Well if you wait long enough, especially if you go to a forum where they don't care about the well being of their members, I assure you you'll find someone who will tell you what you want to hear.

I don't think this is the place though.

Ok so basically you've just said everything i said was wrong. Ok so much for giving my OPINION, i wasn't stating a fact.

Part of you screams you only care about weight loss. The other part of you screams I care about fat loss and muscle retention.

Which is it?

Ok Steve, answer me this, in all honestly.

If i was to follow what your telling me to do, and trust me you sound like you know what your talking about. And if i did follow it i'm sure in about a year maybe more my body would be God worthy. WILL in 5 months i see a difference in my body, so much so that i dont feel ashamed to take my shirt off at the pool?

I honestly dont care about having muscles, never have as i'm naturally stocky. In fact i hate that about myself. I just want to lose weight.

so much for giving my OPINION, i wasn't stating a fact.
Oh good grief.

So if I told you that in my OPINION, the earth was flat, that would make it ok?

No. If you say something that is flat out wrong about diet and exercise, you can say it's your "opinion" but that doesn't make it any less wrong.

Because that is scientific fact. Dieting is all about opinion. There are hundreds of diets that all tell you to do something else. OPINION.

Plus as for the last post about 5 months... i'm sure i've never stated that i was going to starve myself. I said yeah i'm going to reduce my calories, which your supposed to do when losing weight. I love to eat, i dont think i'd be able to cut down to below 1000 calories a day.

At the end of the day i just dont think both of you understand what i mean. Hence why you've gone off on one about different stuff. May i ask where your both from?

Done right you'd average a rate of weight loss of 1% per week.

Do the math.

And you might think you don't care about your body composition. But I assure you do. Not to mention the health and performance side of things... I've seen many of people wind up nearly as ashamed with their soft, yet lighter versions of their former selves.

Dieting is all about opinion
Um. No. Dieting and being healthy and losing weight is actually pretty scientific. Eating fewer calories than you burn - that's science. Maintaining muscle and maximizing fat loss by getting sufficient protein an stressing the muscle - that's science. It's not opinion. It's not guess work. It's scientific fact. Sure there are variations of how to do achieve it - how you can cut back on calories, how you can increase protein, how you can stress the muscles, how you can increase calorie burn ... all of those things have variations. But the cold, hard core of it is not opinion. It's fact.

You specifically said above that you were going to "drastically" reduce your calories to 1200 or lower. So now you're saying differently?

At the end of the day i just dont think both of you understand what i mean. Hence why you've gone off on one about different stuff.
I totally understand what you mean. You don't care about doing it right as long as you can lose a shitton of weight in 5 months.

Where I'm from (btw, that's you're as in "you are", not your) is immaterial to anything, but if you must know, I live in Georgia.

Better yet, think about how much further you'd be compared to going about things where you're starving and inconsistent.

Trust me... I know consistency seems like it wouldn't be a problem for you now. But that's b/c you're not in the midst of fighting every fiber of your evolutionary past.

Wait there KaraCooks, are you taking a dig at my spelling?! I'll have you know i'm dyslexic, so cant help it when i spell things wrong.

As for the losing weight yeah i did say 1200 or less, but i didnt mean under 1000. Anyway as for what your saying steve, trust me if i did end up skinny with a grim body it'd be a lot better than getting bullied for being fat. Might be a change of pace from 'fatty'.

Seriously, where do you people get off on going from 'i'm trying to help you' nice people, to all of a sudden when i talk about going against what you've said 'your wrong' and start mocking me about my spelling. Your hipocrits. Well to be fair steve you have helped me quite a bit and havnt insulted me. So really this is aimed at you mostly karacrooks. I'm from the UK and all i can say is here we dont do that type of thing. Even if i thought someone was wrong i wouldnt shove what i thought was right down their neck. Typical american thing to do in my opinion.

Thanks for your help guys, basically i've realised that i need to count calories basically. I'm looking to lose weight pretty fast, so i think i'll cut down on calories drasticly, for example 1200 calories instead of 2000. Do you think this is a good idea? Or could it do me some harm?

Also does anyone have info on sauces. Because right now my food is pretty bland, and i was thinking of using a tomatoe based sauce (home made).
Lloyd, you haven't said how much you weigh, or how tall you are, etc., so I can't suggest an exact number of calories. But, if you cut your calories too drastically, you will lose muscle and I don't think that's what you want. By losing the weight more gradually, and keeping up the exercise, you have a better chance of maintaining your muscles.

As far as the sauce is concerned, I eat lots of tomato salsa. It helps to spice up bland food like chicken breast meat without adding many calories.

Thank you Harold, that info was actually effective
Not like some of the people on here who totally misunderstood what i ment when asking about lowering calories.

Thanks dude

Btw i'm 6 ft tall
Weight 16 stone
But its not all fat, i do have muscle as well from playing rugby.
I'll try and get a picture on if i can find one.

You shouldn't be cutting calories that low no matter what anyways without a doctor's supervision.

I think you are missing what we are saying, I don't know. You lose weight by burning more calories than you take in. You want to work your butt off to lose weight. Great. So do it the right way. We aren't telling you this diets that are opinion. We are stating cold hard facts. It's science. It's unchangable.

Calories in vs Calories out.

Want to lose weight?

count your calories, change your portions, exercise, avoid calorie voids like soda and BEER.

If you are looking for a quick fix..we can't really help you because weight loss takes time. If you try to shortcut that time, you will lose in the long run and I'm not talking weight.

My advice is simple

This is what I wrote to another user. I think he will be satisfied, hope you to.
I saw you reply and ask so many questions, dont with me. This is free advice, simple and working, and if you want go deeper in it you must take some books and read a lot. This is what I wrote:
''Hallo, My name is Milka, I am a fittnes instructor. I can give you my simpliest advice for free and it's not complicated and for strat you dont need to excercise. Just folow this simple advice and it should become your lifestyle. You will feel better. First forget all expansive products that promise overnight losing weight. Non of it is healthy, and more importent is staying healthy.
1.Breakfast - Have it soon as you get up.(it shoud be not after 9, supposing you are working)
2.Lunch - 4-5 hours after breakfast (it should be healthy, both proteins and carbon hidrates-NOT FAST FOOD)
3.You should eat some fruits(because of vitamins and minerals your body needs) It is like a sneck between lunch and diner.
4.Diner- not after 18 o'clock.(it should be mostly proteins if not just proteines(fish is great, or find some other source of proteins)
5. Do not eat enything until morning.
Drink more water than usual.
Just be persistant! You will feal better soon.
If you want better results you can drink some herbal tea + that extra water. There are some good products on the market. My recommendation is Slimtea from Teateateas.I dont want to leave link or promote. It will help you to take out that extra water and all bad stuff with it. I recomend it becouse it is real quality, I use it even if I dont have weight problems. My students are using it with diet program and they are very satisfied.
pm if you want more info.
Wish you good luck!!! ''
I wish you good luck too! Belive me just be persistant in the start and soon it will be usual to you. You will just feel much better. And belive me, taking your shirt at the pool will be last thing you think about.
