ya know, heidi, i worry about the low carb diets for many reasons. the one thing i do know is that a very low calorie, low carb diet will make you feel ill. i know this from personal experience. i dont intend to be discouraging as these diets work for many.

the other aspect that concerns me is when your body has inadequate stores of carbs to burn, your body will turn to protein to burn. it is not what you want your body to do.

as everything, there are a variety of theories on what is right or wrong. and these are merely examples i know of.

just listen to your body. and please keep us posted. :)

thanks so much for your concern and input, t'is and amndpu, it means so much to me! but you can stop worrying now b/c i quit the protein diet. i made it until yesterday afternoon, and then i just couldn't do it anymore. i had zero energy and was starivng, but couldn't stand to eat any of the foods the diet allowed :( . i still believe that those diets work for some people, but apparantly i'm not one of them. i felt better immediately after eating some fruit and yogurt. i might have made it thru the day had i not worked out, but i can't be on a diet where exercise makes me sick! maybe i'll try it again someday. and yeah t'is, i was worried about losing muscle mass instead of fat when my body went into ketosis. so now i'm back to my regular diet, which is fairly high in protein anyway, but also high in fruits and veggies. here's what i ate so far today:
2pm - omelette w/ 3 egg whites, vegs, lowfat cheese - 240
apple and yogurt - 110
3pm - apple and yogurt - 140
choc chips w/ peanut butter - 100
530pm - mcdonald's cone - 200 (?)

so roughly 800 so far. i went rollerblading for 30 mins and walking for over an hour. i'm going to have something small for dinner that does not involve meat in any form. maybe some cereal and a banana. yummm...
 
hey heidi, i'm glad you decided to eat something else. fruit is sooo yummy. i couldn't imagine not eating it. i'm glad you felt better so soon afterwards as well. it's looks like you ate pretty healthfully for the most part. keep up the awesome work. i can't wait to hear that you've lost another lb!!! take care
 
so finishing my day from yesterday, i had:
crackers - 100
banana - 80
cereal - 210
apple - 70
1/2 protein bar - 140

that makes a total of 1400 for the day, which is not bad considering my workout. today so far - no food, no exercise, nothing, it's 2pm. we shall see...
 
oh hey amnd, didn't see you there! yeah, a diet without fruit just seems unnatural. i hope i lose another pound when i weigh in tomorrow, but who knows :rolleyes: . talk to you soon :D !

hi amnd, i love yogurt too. i like to mix plain yogurt with frozen blueberries and bananas, and some cinnamon, it's soo good and healthy too!

so let me post my food from yesterday, let's see..
chili with cheese - 380
carrot - 20
banana - 100
yogurt w/ fruit - 230
cereal - 280
1/2 protein bar - 140
chocolate - 80

total of 1230 cal yesterday, and 1.5 hours walk. here's today so far:
cereal - 250
coffee - 40
2 eggs - 160
powerbar - 230
chocolate - 120

800 so far :eek: ! i need to get to the gym! thanks for stopping by everyone, i'll be back later!
 
hey heidipye, you're doing so well!! keep it up. you're intake's not so bad. it looks pretty good to me. have fun with the exercise.
 
doing good sweetie! I agree that you are sticking in a very healthy range for your cals when you are between 1200 and 1300... keep that exercise up! it's so good for you!!!
 
thanks, amnd, i just get nervous when i have too many cals "ahead of schedule", if you know what i mean. i'm afraid it could lead to overeating. but that has not been a problem lately :D !

so here's what i ate yesterday:

930am:
cereal - 250
coffee - 40

130pm:
2 eggs - 160
powerbar - 230
chocolate - 120

430pm:
frozen yogurt w/ topping - 400 :eek:

no dinner. 1200 total. my workout was 20 mins on the stationary bike and 18 sets weightlifting. i haven't eaten anything yet today, but i'm only a little hungry. maybe it's because i haven't eaten in 17 hours so my stomach has shrunk? the scale showed another 2 pounds weight loss this morning, but could it have to do with having no food in my stomach :confused: ? i hope it's the accurate number, b/c that would bring my total weight loss to 4 pounds so far :D ! i'm so happy i found this place! have a great day everyone, and bye for now!

hi again, and thanks to all who stopped by. you guys are awesome! i was visiting my parents and that's why i sort of disappeared for awhile. but i'm back and still doing pretty good! i'm hoping to join the new challenge that started today, i hope i get in.
i'm not going to post everything i've eaten since my last journal entry, b/c i don't remember it all, but starting tomorrow i write everything again. i've basically stopped eating dinner these days. i don't eat after leaving work at 5. i usually have a snack around 4 and that's it for the day. i only eat dinner if i'm eating with other people. it saves a lot of cals that way, and i'm hungrier in the morning so i eat a better breakfast.
