thanks j, i will keep it up! rollerblading is so fun, i'm going to do it more often. i think i should get a helmet though, i'm not very coordinated and i'm afraid i'll fall and crack my head!

hey kc... it's halloween :p ! that's why i have candy, not b/c i bought it, but b/c everywhere i go these days people have candy, and i end up taking some. you are right as usual tho and normally my house is filled with healthy food and not junk. the only junk i keep around is a bag of chocolates, usually hershey kisses, because when i have a craving for chocolate nothing else will do, and if i try to satisfy it with something else, i just end up eating too much random stuff. a couple hershey kisses will take care of it tho. and i'm definitely not trying to starve myself, i went thru that phase as a teenager and it's not a fun thing to do :mad: . the best way for me to lose weight is to eat between 1200-1700 cals and exercise several times a week. that's pretty good, right? mmm... fat free ice cream *drools*... i have such a weakness for frozen desserts, esp nonfat frozen yogurt. it would be ok to eat if it didn't have so much sugar. i get it a couple times a week, but i'm trying to cut back :rolleyes: .

ok... so i have a confession to make. i had done really well today, i was at about 1400 cals, but then :eek: ... well, you see, my church is having a bake sale tomorrow to raise funds, so i decided to bake some cookies tonight to give to the bake sale. so i baked chocolate-chocolate-chip cookies with m&ms on top. i made them biiig cookies, except for one tiny one for me to eat tonight. well, the first couple batches came out fine, and i ate my tiny cookie and enjoyed it very much. then just for fun i tried making the last batch in the toaster oven on the "bake" setting. i didn't watch it closely enough and they burned. i can't sell burned cookies, so i was just going to throw them away, but for some reason i ended up picking at them and eating almost a whole big cookie :mad: !! this was at like 1030 pm. usually when i bake i make healthy stuff, using apple sauce instead of butter etc. but this time i used real butter, eggs, sugar, etc. i am not used to eating that sort of stuff and i feel sooo sick to my stomach now. well, at least i learned my lesson. our bodies are so amazing - we can learn so much from them if we just listen! ok, i better try to get some sleep, and tomorrow i *will* workout again, and eat less! i can't wait for the new comp to start on nov 1! take care everyone, and thanks for stopping by *hugs*. bye for now :D !

sorry about the cookies. i know how that can be. i LLLOOOOVEEE baking but no one in my house eats that many sweets so i end up eating them :rolleyes: i've been looking for an excuse to bake some, maybe for christmas. well i hope you had a good day and had fun rollerblading. take care.
 
Your plan sounds quite realistic - just make sure you eat about 5 small meals a day (ok - cookies won't help ;) ) and watch that cals intake! Oh, and sticking to your plan might help as well :D (that's my biggest problem too :eek:).

I was sooo close to reaching my goal but then my job started, so I ended up eating only twice a day (due to the nature of my job I can't take any time off to have 3-4 (small) meals while at work) and that being 2 rather huge meals (compared to my usual ones), the biggest at about 6-8pm - the total cals intake was too low though (slowed down my metabolism). In 3 weeks, my lost weight is half way back (7 lbs) and I'm back at trying to lose a total of 10 lbs. :(

But at least I'm aware of it now and will try to reduce the evening cals intakes and add sth. during the day (just need to figure out what and when...). :confused:

hey amndpu, i love baking too but i don't very often b/c i just end up eating all of it myself :rolleyes: . butwhen i do bake i generally make healthy, low-fat stuff. i use whole wheat flour, and applesauce and bananas in place of sugar and butter. i've also started replacing part of the wheat flour with soy flour, which increases the amt of protein. i like baking muffins and cookies in particular, how about you?

yesterday turned out pretty well, after the cookie fiasco saturday. i took the cookies to church and gave them to the bake sale, and that was that and i didn't eat anymore of them. i didn't have much appetite until the afternoon, and when i ate it was healthy things. i ate a total of 1470 cals yesterday, and went on a long walk. i really need to start doing more exercise :rolleyes: . i'm really excited for the new challenge to start tomorrow. so far today i've eaten 440 cals in the form of hardboiled eggs and dry cereal. i'll post another update later today.

heidiepye, i'm so glad you had a good day today. mine was alright. i love to bake cookies, and cakes. i really don't care for cake that much but i still like to bake them. i just got a new holiday cook book. it has so many cute recipes for parties. can't wait till christmas!! i want to try baking brownies from scratch (i've always used the packages) buit i'm afraid i'll end up eating them all cause my BIGGEST weakness ever, are brownies. well, i hope you had a happy halloween. and we'll soon see a very slimming thanksgiving :) :D
 
woo, so today's the first day of the newbies vs oldies challenge! i'm so excited, and go blue team! for the duration of the challenge (and hopefully longer), i'm going to write down every morsel that passes my lips. so here we go for today:
9am - coffee - 20
1230pm - dry cereal - 280
1pm - funsize candybar - 90
330pm - string cheese - 70; apple - 70; carrot - 40
4pm - 1/2 protein bar - 140; fun size candybar - 120
gum - 30
TOTAL = 740 so far. not bad! my plan is to eat 1000-1400 a day plus 1/2 of my exercise burn, on days i exercise. which i didn't today. meh. so i'll have a small dinner tonight, and call it a good day!

amndpu - you should bake your brownies for a christmas party or something, so they get eaten by lots of people and you won't have any left over. is it hard ot make brownies from scratch? i've never tried.

i'm realizing that there's more candy around the day after halloween than on halloween itself! candy candy everywhere! yikes, well, i've done ok so far today, i don't think i'll eat anymore candy. but it's overall cals that matters more right? well anyways, i'll check back later with updates, so bye for now!
 
Ooh, I love to bake too. (If you look back about a week in my diary you can see what happened to my last bake sale offering.) I've said it before, though... asking me to bake is like asking an alcoholic to tend bar! Cookies are so tempting because, well, one bite won't hurt... So I tend to make something that I can't have a "taste" of... cake, pie, etc. Homemade brownies aren't hard to make, but even my best recipe wasn't that much better than a quality mix.

ok, yesterday i ended up with 1400 cals. i had miscalculated in my previous post, that total was actually 860. yay for my arithmetic skills :rolleyes: ! anyway, later on i had:
soy chips - 150
2 apples - 150
plain yogurt - 40
candy :rolleyes: - 200

totallyscrappy - i've never tried baking a pie or cake - i'm not a very skilled baker :p . but i would only try baking one if it was for a party or something - i would never bake a cake to keep at home! i'd eat the whole thing!

tis4me - yeah that candy :rolleyes: ! but the further we get from halloween the less of it there will be... well, until christmas, i suppose...

amndpu - glad you had a good day! let's make today another one. our team is so going to win this thing ;) !

ok, here's today's food:
dry cereal - 280
2 eggs - 160
apple - 70
carrot - 50
chocolate - 200 :mad:
protein bar - 280
cereal - 330
chocolate - 200 :mad:
TOTAL = 1570 :eek: ! Still within my limits tho. I worked out for 35 mins at the gym, and burned 375 cals. and i'm a little hungry now (830pm) so i guess i didn't eat too much. i will try to eat less tomorrow tho. i'm debating going on an atkins-type diet for awhile. the quick weight loss sounds tempting but i don't know if i could live without fruit and veggies. has anyone here tried atkins? i'd love to hear about it if you have! well, ok, i guess that's all for me tonight. have a great day tomorrow everyone and good luck with your plans!
 
hi! sounds like you didn't do too bad yesterday.haha, the chocolate got me too :( but it will be better today!!! i know it. i can't wait till the candy is all gone. yesterday my mom brought a big box of candy home from her work :eek: and of course it has to have my fave chocolates in it. mmm, just got to be good. hope you have another wonderful day!!
 
so partly in the spirit of the weight loss comp and partly out of curiosity, i've decided to try an atkins-like thing for the first time. not exactly atkins tho b/c i hate fatty meats and grease. i'm eating chicken, eggs, low-fat cheese, and sugar-free gum. i read in an old diet book that you can lose 5-15 pounds in the first week :eek: ! how great would that be for me and the blue team :cool: ! so i'm starting today and i'm going to stick with it for a week even if i hate it. so far today i've had:
1030am: 1 boiled egg(80), chicken(150), cheese(180)
130pm: chicken cold cuts (150)

i felt good for awhile after breakfast, then felt like i was going to faint before eating lunch. i ate the cold cuts and then i felt horrible, possible b/c of all the salt? they had a ton of salt and i hate salt. i still don't feel very good, kind of weak and numb-headed. i really really want an orange or a grapefruit :mad: ! i don't know if this is normal or when it should go away, but i hope i feel better soon. i am going to do this thing for a week, and if i don't feel better then, i will stop. and i'm still sticking to my previous calorie limits. ugh, i hope i feel better later today. well, anyway, i'll let you know how it goes. bye for now.
 
I love choc & do not go a day w/out a little bit..it keeps me under control basically

Im sorry your feeling yucky at times.. That is tough to get thru..I did it and I remember..I needed my fruits for me to get by
 
hey heidipye, ew, i'm sorry you haven't felt very good today. i hope you feel better soon. if you start to feel too wear from this diet maybe you should eat alittle fruit or something. maybe to help balance your stomach out. good luck getting through the week. i hope you find the results you want :D
 
good luck with the change in diet...i can imagine your body doing a flip-flop while you are changing things up. keep up posted on how you are feeling. i worry about you not feeling well within the first day. :(
 
thanks for the support everyone! *hugs* you guys are awesome. i'm feeling a little better now. here's what i ate today, it's ridiculous:
- 1 boiled egg - 80
- 4 oz lowfat cheese - 240
- 1 POUND chicken/turkey - 620 :eek:
- 1 string cheese - 70
- gum - 30

that's 1040 total, and even in my lightheadedness i know the math is right (cause i used a calculator :p ). i am craving every kind of fruit i know of, but esp bananas :mad: . i could eat about 15 bananas right now. my second place craving is wheat crackers. but at least i'm not craving cookies and ice cream. i'll take that as a good sign of some sort. most of what i ate was between 1030am-430pm. all i ate tonight was 2 ounces of chicken and the string cheese. i think tomorrow i will eat little bits more evenly spaced thru the day, and try to get meat that is less salty. next weekend i'm going to visit my parents and i won't be able to eat this way at their house. so if i'm still doing this i'll have to stop for the weekend and then i can eat my fruit :D . that gives me something to look forward to. that's also the last weekend of the competition so i'll still have to watch my intake. but i can get away with meat, fruit, and veggies in front of my parents, which is a great way to eat anyway. and i'm rambling and not making sense b/c my brain is deprived of carbs. heh my brain is confused :rolleyes: . ok i will stop now. good night and good luck tomorrow!
 
day 2 of protein diet... i woke up feeling weak and hungry. i ate some chicken and cheese and went to the gym. after 15 minutes of cardio i wanted to quit, but managed to do 30 minutes before my body pooped out and said no more. then on the way up to work i had to take the elevator b/c i got dizzy going up stairs! now i'm hungry but i don't want any of the things i'm allowed to eat. all i want is fruit... i didn't bring any with me today, but there is a protein bar sitting in my desk that's calling to me. it has 19 grams of carbs... which would mess up this diet. oh well. this is the weirdest diet i have ever tried. this is all happening b/c my glycogen stores are depleted and my body is turning to other sources of energy? i don't know if i can continue with this much longer :( . on the positive side, i was down another pound this morning :) , but it might just be water. i certainly don't feel any thinner yet. ...anyways, i hope everyone reading this is having a great day. bye for now!
 
hey heidipye, wow!! those are some pretty bad things happening. it's not good to feel dizzy and whatnot. just be really careful with everything you do especially when you drive. we wouldn't want you to pass out or anything. i think you should eat some fruit if you start feeling any worse than what you are now. those aren't good signs. i don't want to be worrying about you :( i couldn't even imagine eating that much meat in one day!! actually i rarely ever eat meat. ever. well, i really hope you feel better soon. take care.
