New Years Resolution - The one that sticks.
First, a little bit about myself. My name is Shannon, male and from Australia. I'm 18 years old (19 in 2 weeks) and after being overweight for all my life, my New Years Resolution has been to lose weight and get fit. I've tried many times before to lose weight and ultimately failed, and I've found that the success to this is motivation, honestly and originality.
During the University holidays I live with my father, who I envy greatly due to his fast metabolism and ability to eat anything and stay thin. He often feeds me things that are high in carbs and fat such as sausages, white rice and spaghetti. Previous weight loss attempts have failed due to not informing him of my plans, reasons behind this is simply sheer embarrassment.
During the University year I am living with two roommates, one of them shares the same motivation to eat healthy. Cooking my own foods which don't intrude into my dad's lifestyle will work out much better for both he and I in the long run.
I am currently 92kg and 175cm.
I have not set a designated weight goal, but I plan to lose currently 10-15kg and get to a nice weight of 65kg-70kg.
My mother passed away when I was 12 in 2001 from lung cancer. Although she wasn't overweight, all of her family's side have had heart problems which have ultimately led to their death:
-Her father/my grandfather died in 1988 from heart disease
-Her mother/my grandmother died in 1995 from a similar heart condition
-Her younger brother/my uncle died in 2006 at the age of 53 from the same heart problems.
-Throughout the 90's she had many problems.
I want to lose the weight to give me a better chance at a healthier life and to feel more confident.
Let the New Years Resolution be a success.
