Cohen's Lifestyle Fornight - Health Journey

Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
Fornight- Beck Diet Solution I have and think it would be particularly useful while on Cohen's. I think I may have read the other but honestly don't remember. I must not have thought it worth buying though. Get it from the library & see what you think. If you feel it would be useful then buy it.I would have done that with the Beck diet solution too but it was not available but I think I would have bought it anyway. I often pick it up & have a look. Cheers, Cate

I've lost my double chin too! In fact, that went fairly quickly, which was good. Unfortunately because I'm not far off 50, there's a bit of baggy skin there, but I'd still rather have that than a big roll of fat!

Buy the new scales if you want and set your mind at rest! I do not regret buying new ones when I did it last time - best thing I ever did. There's no arguing with self, justifying - you just weigh what you weigh and then take it from there!

1st Weigh-In

Date: Fri, 26 Jun 09 (Weigh-in Day)
Cohen Date: 4 Weeks 1 Day
Weight: 70.5kg

Well, I did my first weigh-in today. I lost 7kg. To be honest, I am a little disappointed. I was hoping for at least a double digit loss. In my last experience with Cohen, I was on a "modified" cohen diet due to my weak liver and I lost almost 9kg in my first month. It was presumed that I could have lost more if I started with the REAL cohen diet. Although I did start with REAL cohen diet when Dr Cohen was happy with my liver improvement, the weight loss sprint was lost.

This time, I started my first month with REAL cohen diet with a healthy liver so I was really expecting a loss that is more than my last experience. Maybe it was because my body is no longer a "virgin" to this diet.

Nonetheless I told myself it is still a loss. I am probably losing more inches because it usually take me at least 10kg loss to see fats on my face shrink. Not to mention, I am coming close to the 60s range.

Hi Fornight- You have said that when you did Cohen's first time around (modified) that you had 20kg to lose but stopped after losing about 14kg. Did you lose almost 9 of that 14kg in your first 4 weeks. WOW! I had 36 to lose & lost 10kg first month but most people lose much less than that. I assumed it was because I had so much to lose. Try to be happy with 7kg in 4 weeks. It is truly amazing & I don't know of any other plan with such spectacular results. Try to take it day by day & enjoy the journey & be proud of what you achieve.
"My body is getting stronger, healthier & slimmer by the day"
Take care, xo Cate.

Hi Cate!

Yes. I lost nearly 9kg out of the 14kg in the first month. After that I deviated quite a few times and that is why I took almost 2 months of lost the balance 5kg. In the end, I lost my patience and stopped.

Yes, you are right. I should try to take it day by day.

I told my friend that I am a little blue today because I only lost 7kg. She knocked my head and told me the same thing. 7kg is a fantastic results. I should focus on 100% Deviation Free in this diet. As long as I focus on that, I will reap benefits from the diet.

Hey Fornight,

It is important to note why you are on this programme. I think the bottomline really is not about losing the weight or kilos but about a lifestyle change. Sure, big/huge losses are certainly assurance and keep us committed to the programme BUT at the end of the programme, when we don't lose any more, what do we do? Ultimately, we've got to focus on what works in keeping our weight down - the way we should adjust our lifestyle and cut off from the old habits that were attributing to the disgusting piles. If we only focus on the weight and not the change, guess after the programme, we'll just return to the same old us?

CONGRATS Fortnight 7kg's Wooo hoooooo that is FANTASTIC!!!!!
I would love to be loosing 7kg's in one month! I think you should get your margarine container out the fridge and think about how many of those full of fat you have been loosing in a week! That will surely put thing's into perspective!

Fantastic job and keep your chin up- your doing ow so well :)

5th Week - Weigh-in

This is ridiculous!!!:cuss:

The machine says I weigh 70.2kg. I only lost 300g since last Friday. 70kg has always been my "bottleneck" in the past. I hate this number! It is an EVIL :reddevil:number.

I am disappointed :flame:because I am so looking forward to being 60s range. Maybe it is due to PMS. According to my record, that is pretty close.

I do know that in terms of inch loss, I am definitely better than last week. Yesterday I was wearing a top that I wore last week and it was a tiny tiny bit looser than last week.

I was also suffering from signs of cold on and off this week. At least 3 times but each time I manage to stop them from aggrevating by popping in two tablets of panadol cold tablets. Maybe it is the tablets that slow the weigh-loss? But my consultant told me I can take the cold tablets!

Enough guesses!:iamwithstupid: I am still going to stick to this diet 100% DF.:patriot: I need to go and read my "advantages response card" to re-focus on the diet. I did make a promise to myself I will not let the machine dictate my moods and I am going to keep that promise!

Just hang in there. Everything will be ok. That little bit of weight you lost is great and just so you know. I just got over a really bad sinus infection and i didnt lose anything this last week because I was popping Vitamin C like crazy as well as antibiotics. So dont worry. It will pick up again Im sure of it. Your doing so awesome keep it up >.<
:auto: towards weight loss!!

6th Week - Weigh-in

Finally!!!! I am now officially a 60s girl!!!

Now I am convince my last week tiny loss was due to me getting cold allergies daily. I found out the thing that trigger my cold now. It was my bedroom air conditioning temperature. It was accidentally set at 25 degree celsius instead of 26 degree celsius. It is amazing that a one degree difference can create such huge impact for my health nowadays. Ever since I adjusted it back to 26, I hardly has any cold for the past one week.

I must confess that although I am forever wearing my thick cardigan in the office, I am glad that I am handling the heat in Singapore so much better than in the past. I sweat so much lesser when I am outside now which is a yippee for me!

In the past, I was always the one complaining about being too warm. My bedroom temperature was always kept at 22 degree celsius, if not, I would not have a good night sleep. My colleagues were always in awe when they saw me switching on the rotating fan while working in a freezing (in their opinion it was freezing but not to me back then) office room. They always joked that I was an EXTREMELY HOT lady! I was always looking forward for my business trips to extremely cold countries like Norway. 0 degree celsius temperature to me was freezing but still tolerable. -5 degree celsius was THE real freezing to me back then. From 5 to 15 degree celsius was like "home" to me.

It will be interesting to see how my new body is going to react to my future business trips. I don't think I will get to know it until way after the refeed when my back problem is stabilize.

Well done Fornight!! A 60's gal!! 1.7kg in one week. Phht!! Keep up the good work. I don't know how anyone sleeps in a room with air conditioning. I can't. It makes me so snuffly. Our bedroom atm would be about 3-4oC overnight. It's a good excuse to snuggle up under the doona.Cheers, cate.

7th Week Weigh-In

Weight for today - 67.8kg and last week was 68.5kg. The loss is really small for this week. 0.7kg loss and that means an average loss of 1.38kg per week. It is kind of below my expected average of 1.4kg/week.

Since my TOM started yesterday, I was mentally prepared for it. I read on the net that although woman has the annoying TOM every month, we also enjoy that fast metabolic rate week right after the TOM. Apparently if you pig out (within reasons) during this golden week, you don't gain weight. If you diet during this golden week, you actually lose more weight than other weeks. I am quite looking forward to that "golden" week.

fornight- is that this week's joke? That is so funny. Oh no!! Not quite 1.4kg!! You have cracked me up! I have a funny feeling that it was not intended as a joke though. 1.38kg average per week. Marvellous!! Cheers, cate

8th Week Weigh-In

Current Weight = 66.7kg
Previous Weight = 67.8kg
Loss for the week = 1.1kg
Total Loss to date = 10.8kg (average 1.35kg/week)

Current Fat % = 37.3%
Previous Fat % = 37.7%

The loss is slightly more than 1 kg so I am not complaining. I was flipping through my weight/fat log just now and it suddenly hit me how much fat % I have lost. A month ago, my fat % was 39.2%!!!! Maybe that is why my body is downsizing faster than I expected.

Wow Fornight! Look how close you are to half way. Once you get to half way time flies! Well done! How are you feeling? Have a great week-end, cheers, Cate

Physically I feel great! People are noticing changes on my body so I am getting compliments nearly everywhere I go.

Emotionally, not so good for the last few days. Hearing a lot of negative news about my close friends and close colleagues. Feeling sad for them so my moods are kind of down for the past few days. It can get tiring when you no longer go to food for comfort. I need to find another way to vent out those frustration and unhappiness.

That's no good. Try doing what I do when other people's problems threaten to overwhelm me. Read a book, perhaps a motivational book or look online for some inspiration. You can't change people's lives & circumstances and taking their problems on board will not help them at all. Looking after yourself physically but also emotionally makes you better able to help others. Take some time out to do something nice for yourself. A haircut perhaps or a manicure? Go for a gentle walk or visit a positive & supportive friend. It's very important that we do learn strategies to overcome reaching for food as comfort. It isn't comfort at all & only makes us feel worse. You are doing well. Try to enjoy your week-end. Take some time out just for you, xo Cate
