fighting acne !!

what products do the men here use to fight acne /?? a lot have been growing in my forehead.... any tips are welcome :p :p

i heard those soap that makes your skin dry as hell are good to get rid of them .. any thoughts on that ??

good weekend all !!

soaps that dry your skin to hell are just going to make your skin create more oils then that will produce more zits. also if you have long hair the oil from your hair will cause zits too. i had my doctor prescribe me some benzol stuff. it works pretty good. can only use it once a day though cause it dries my skin out. you might be different. also try to relax, stress causes more zits.

Accutane.

Haha, not that easy to get there though, prescriptions and checkups every 15-30 days, including blood tests regularly and tests to make sure that you are not developing any side effects. It's kinda cool actually, except when you forget your chap stick haha..

But I had pretty bad acne, I've used Tazorac in the past and made sure that I showered at least twice daily - pretty good solution.

Please don't recommend something so dangerous to someone with mild acne! Accutane should be used only as the last resort!

I recommend you follow the Dan Kern Regime, go to acne.org for more information.

Benzoyl Peroxide(10%) has worked wonders for tons of people; I work in a pharmacy and like 13/15 people said it's great, plus it's OTC.

10% Is very strong! That's usually used only for body acne treatment, I had dead skin hanging from my face with 5%, imagine what 10% would do.

On acne.org they say that 5% is probably even too strong for most people

If he wants something mild for acne, then most of the time salicyclic acid (1-2%) will work. But IMO washing with 10%BP and applying a good face cream would be perfect, not overdrying but cleaning very well.

Hehe.. :) I had it pretty bad and had to resort to accutane, not very fun stuff.

BTW, I was just messing around at starting with accutane, don't do that bro.

Salicylic acid is great stuff indeed, using it myself currently :)
But I still think the BP concentration is way too high for the face but perhaps it differs per individual, I myself looked like a burn victim when I was on 5% BP.

Accutane is very nasty stuff indeed, you should feel incredibly lucky you didn't have any extreme side affects!

Yall already know how i feel about Benzoyl Peroxide.:p

HOWEVER, i recently found a new product that is absolutely great on my acne.
Last week my face just went like worse then its been in quite some time. So i got this stuff called Witch Hazel extract. i spray it on a cotton ball then wash my face with two or three times a day. By the Next day my face was about (atleast) 87% better. Two days later it was completely clean!

I have never used anything that had such a dramatic affect on my acne!

They probably sell it at wall greens or maybe target/wall-mart. Try it out.

I wash my face 3x /day with 10% and don't peel at all.. But you're right it's different person to person. But a word of advice, you're not supposed to let it sit at all, rinse on rinse off, it might help with the peeling if you were letting it sit.

I got my Bp from the pharmacy and here's what the instructions say:
For exterior usage, apply at evening and rinse of the next morning

So..

As someone who struggled with acne for years I'd like to add a bit about my experiences.

First of all, Benzoyl peroxide is OK for a short term solution, the only strength I could see any results out of though was the 10% stuff. The only problem is it bleached all my clothes!!! You need to have a lot of white t-shirts if you're gonna use it.

The best option is to take care of your skin, drink lots of water and moisturise after washing.

If the problem is persistant, don't get scared away from accutaine, it might have some scary sounding side-effects but it is very effective. It's the only thing that ever worked for me, and if you're being monitored by a doctor and you take care to look out for any side effects then there shouldn't be a problem.

While taking Accutaine the only problem I had was when one day I doubled up on my dosage by mistake, I was close to being suicidal by the evening but as I was aware that the drug can cause serious depression I was able to deal with it until the effect wore off

Hey what I use to fight acne is use extra virgin olive oil on the skin. Rub it on for 30 seconds and wash off. A honey and oatmeal facial also works pretty good. The honey itself is a great antibacterial.

so if I use the soap and then put the cream I should be fine right ???

it is I guess modarely

and I was wondering for those who lives in the US what name brand products do you guys use ?
