yes i was right today was a bloody big and full on day...!!!
i had lunch around 3 (before the concert) then the concert ran OVER OVER time (till about 9.30)...THEN stupid me was the nice girl offering her friends lifts home, totally forgetting that they lived in gods knows where!!
lucky i had fruit and crispbread in the car i could munch on but i didnt get home till 11pm (AND FRIGGEN 8 HOUR GAP FROM LUNCH) to have my dinner...and now i am so so tired and wanting to go to sleep but we have to wait 2 hours after our last meal damnit im in a grumpy mood i hope this doesnt affect my weight tomorrow but i bet it will grrrrrrr no happy JAN!
on the other side of things i had my first day of introducing milk....so i decided to have it in the morning with my brekkie..
i finished my brekkie and reached for the cup..i was actually smiling!! like really looking forward to having this nice milky cup of coffee id been thinking about for 5 months ...
IT TASTED CRAP...it was the strangest thing ever ..like it made the nice black coffee id been drinking all along taste yukky and somewhat greasy and just plain disgusting! and i had to drink the whole thing because it was new protein damnit!.....then about 20 minutes later my stomach was doing little mini flip flops and my sinus was acting up...looks like i may now have an intolorance to milk thankyou very much!
its weird because my consultant warned me about it and i was like pfffft! NAH i love my milk even before i used to drink it straight and id probably have about 1 or 2 glasses a day of milk alone! theres no way i could be sensitive to it...
well its happened! im going to try again tomorrow and have it with my lunch to see if it gives me the same affect..if i still want to gag and my tummy starts doing the rhumba...well ill know to stay away!
oooooh i wonder if this means ill feel sick from MILK chocolate...?? or other naughty things? cos if thats the case BRING ON THE SENSITIVITY!!! itll give me a perfect reason not to eat crap food!!!!
ahh stuff the two hour rule i am TIRED! im off to bed!
speak to you all tomorrow
Short one as i just got back from a long day and ready to hit the sack!!!
tried milk again today...AGAIN it made my coffee taste yuk..i even tried another type of coffee today and still the same taste reaction...kinda of like greasy/curdley...very weird to describe!
also made my tummy have the gurgles!!
ALSO had a pear today and my body got a really bad insulin rush which made me feel slightly sick....i think ill stick to the banannas as my bad fruit as i have no reaction to them!
NEW PROTEIN TODAY! i had skinless chicken thigh...really tasty (must of been the marbled fat in them)...a really nice change to the chicken breast!
INTRODUCED CARBS TODAY (other then bread, carbs means carb complex vegetables such as pumpkin, potato, beans, peas, corn, rice, popcorn, and refined carbs such as pasta)..
i decided to have peas and corn mix....again a really nice change to the old veges even though it was only 50grams (less than 1/2 a cup!)
Only thing thats really confusing me now is the fact that because i no longer have to wait 5 hours for food or 2.5 hours in between crispbread im finding it difficult to distinguish hunger signs althou i am finding it easier to distinguish the ' full' feeling when i have meals which will prove quite useful when im in the 'real' world of eating!!
I must say going to the bathroom for number '2's has been quite the challenge during refeed.
Anywayyyyyyy off to beddy bies night night people and happy losing!
xxx
You're doing so well Caroline. Just think, only a few more days to go. This time next week you will officially be an 'ex-cohenite'..lol. I'm so very proud of you...xxxx
You are doing real well. With the milk situation have you tried the lactose free milk it's also low fat. That's what I used.
And I also had troubles in the loo department, I increased my metamucil caps and water but yes it was a struggle.
I find post Cohens things have improved......not sure why but maybe the body needs time to adjust the increase of foods.
Yummy more chicken thigh today...80 grams, im really looking forward to tomorrow though because that when i have 160 of the good stuff hehehehe
Stuck to the banannas today and no insulin rush! *note to self - pears = insulin rush = not good*
thanks for the lactose tip sam! ill give the lactose free a go and see what happens
Oooo bought Cape seed loaf and started on that today it was so yummo and a great change from the store bought bread..mmm *note to self - always buy fresh from the bakery*...lets hope the extra fibre moves things along without the help of coloxxyl!
Ive found a new treat, mashed up bananna with a sprinkle of cinnamon spread on lighlty toasted cape seed loaf.
i think these will be my sweet carb treat when im off cohens.and so nutritious! no choccie for me thanks! (actually well see on that one )
ive seen tomorrows menu.. BOY its going to be huge. will update you all tomorrow night!
from me well im off to work to serve the drunken baboons of perth their poison of choice!
Ps: *HUGS* to minny - you are so cute THANKYOU very much
oh oh oh and on other news my mum told me today that were getting a cross trainer delivered on monday woopee!! i think shes been noticing my fidgetness haha (is that even a word?!?!) only FIVE more days of refeed eating left
Caroline,
keep up the good work and the commentary, , it's wonderful. Monday is day 1 of refeed for me at this stage and did some shopping in preparation, bought pineapple and rockmelon. The banana on toast sounds yummy, couldn't think what to do with my bread other than the cheese meals, bring on day 7, that's bad fruit day for me.
Lauren
How well are you doing - 1.5 off goal. Can I ask - are you really hungry this close to refeed and if so how would you rate the hunger feeling?? I am just curious to know as that is how my consultant says I will know when to start refeed?????
Sorry about the wait on my posts guys, i have been a busy little bee and i had work all weekend therefore i had no time to post! I know you have all been as keen as mustard to see how i am going and i am going WELL!
i couldnt weigh myself over the weekend as i work shift in a bar and they are never accurate readings (due to lack of sleep and body clock goes whack cos i eat at the different times!)
so i am weighing myself tomorrow morning, im pretty certain im at the stage of refeed theres no way i have to go back any days seeing as this is the 'stabilising period', basically i have been fluctuating about 300 grams so i wonder what i weigh tomorrow!
i have introduced everything on refeed now (including one plain biscuit which was introduced yesterday..YUM!) so now it is just the process of increasing the food and new protein and veges and seeing how my body handles it!
OOOOOooooo and we recieved out brand spanking new xtrainer today! mums letting me put it in my room so i can watch Telly while working out
went for my first bout of exersise tonight, first proper exercise i have done in about 4 months and it felt GREAT!
i thought i would be really tired and was worried id get sick again (like i did at curves) but i guess because ive got the carbohydrates and more protein in my system my body could handle the workout! Needless to say i DID only go on level one the whole time...hahaha BUT STILL!! i went for a whole hour and time literally flew by! by the end of 'biggest loser' i was a little puffed and a little sweaty, not alot sweaty, just sweaty like 'oh you got off your arse today' sweaty
my NEW treat the past two days since i am allowed butter or margarine on ONE slice of bread has been garlic bread!! i THINLY spread some low cholesterol margarine on my toasted cape seed loaf slice, then sprinkle some ground garlic and italian herbs and a TINY bit of salt!
YUMMMMM and the thing was,one piece did me swell! pre-cohens if i had a loaf of garlic bread in front of me (the REAL italian kind of garlic bread, were talking a foot long baguette LADLED with REAL FAT butter,10 cloves of garlic and stuffed with parsley)..well it wouldnt be in front of me for very long...
Well done Caroline...i love the garlic bread treat...yum! You could even save up your marg for another time and use bit of oil spray...would do the same job.
Wow, 2 days left. You must be so proud of yourself. Congratulations. Can't wait to read about your last few days and your continued maintenance....HEHEHEHEHE..YOU'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE!!!!!....lol.
Nothing new added to the menu! pretty much same as yesterday!
although i only just had my dinner (9.30pm) and had a huge dilemma..
I DIDNT HAVE ENOUGH CARROT
i misjudged how much i would need for my dinner and when i cut up my carrot for my stirfy i was 11 grams under
and there was NOTHING i could replace it with ARGGHHHH i hope i didnt stuff up my friggen refeed, and on the second last day godamNNNNN IT
ive been yelling.
my throat is sore.
on the otherhand ive been able to introduce alcohol into my system.I could do this from yesterday, if you want 150-200mls of wine, 30mls of spirit (vodka bacardi bourbon etc) OR a 375ml light beer you have to give up ONE slice of bread (for wine or spirit) or TWO slices of bread (if u want beer)...ive decided i will hold off the alcohol until my celebration dinner this saturday
We are going to a greek restaurant.how exciting! Im positive i will be making good food choices and watching my intake
Cant believe when i wake up tomorrow it will be my last cohens day.
and YES you guys arent getting rid of me that fast!!! ill definately still be posting as i want to record how exercising and eating will affect my body, whether i may still have loss of kilo or centimetres, and what kind of foods affect my body!
Hi Fatcat
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your diary.
Congratulations, you are finishing and I have just started, I have the same amount of weight to lose as you have. Very motivational, thank you.
My head has been all over the joint today, and to go with my jumbled head came a jumbled tummy! yes i have had tummy troubles! i dont think i cooked my chicken properly when i was making stir fry at lunch so i have been pretty much sitting on the toilet the whole rest of the day when i should of been studying for my mid term tomorrow! oh the agony of it all
Well my last cohens 'Refeed' meal today was beautiful. In a saucepan i had chopped up an apple and bananna, sprinkled some cinnamon and ground up one tablet of sugarine, then proceeded to simmer it down till it was soft and mash everything up into a big mess, then spooned it over two slices of toasted cape seed loaf bread..Tasted like a mix between custard and bread and butter pudding!
I seriously cant believe people spend shit loads of money buying crap sugary unhealthy foods when all it takes is a few simple ingredients and 5 minutes around the stove top!
i cant believe its all over red rover, this cohens journey has truly been a blessing in disguise! to think that i would of never had found the clinic if it wasnt for a health scare late last year (found out i had polycystic ovary syndrome), cant believe it took something like that to actually do something about my weight.cant believe i used to wear size 18 clothes and thought i looked hot!(the things reverse anorexia can do to a person!).cant believe i used to have 10+ cups of coffee with half of it being milk and the other half being sugar!cant believe this has been the most drastic weight loss yet most rewarding and fulfilling experience i have ever had the pleasure of participating in!
Thankyou so much to everyone on this forum, there is no way ill be able to remmeber everyones name and i do NOT want to leave anyone out so if youve ever spoken to me, replied to any of my posts, posted in my diary or even if you have just been a victim to my ranting on these boards i truly THANKYOU from the bottom of my now healthier and slimmer heart (okay...i dont think theres such a thing as a 'skinnier' heart...but its definately healthier! )
you havent heard the last of me though! **Insert Dr.Evil laugh here***
i will continue to keep posting...ALSO next friday (27th April) is my appointment with my clinic for a FINAL cohens weigh in and so i can recieve after cohens weight management guidelines so i will check my weight and finally update my ticker! (as clinic scales are more accurate then my home ones!)
Completed the Cohens Program and Refeed in 21 weeks and 6 days.
I just started this program-- on my fifth day-- and your journal is a HUGE inspiration. I love how you've journaled every step up the way, the highs and the lows. Your success will truly motivate me. I have PCOS too, so I'm hoping to have similar results.
Congratulations on your amazing weight loss. You are so beautiful! And you WERE pretty before, but you're way hotter now.
WooHoo Caroline. I'm so very pleased for you. Congratulations sweetheart on completing the program and you did it with such style - and humour...lol. You are most certainly an inpiration to us all and i'd like to thank you for helping each and every one of us as we take our own journeys to a healthier life.
You should be so proud of yourself...i know i'm proud of you and I can't wait to see what your final weigh in brings.
Also - WE WANT A FINAL PIC!!!!!!!!!
Congrats again hun and I hope you enjoy your drinkies and celebration dinner...xxxxxxx
What can I say that others havent. I have just found your diary and read it from go to whoa. I havent laughed so much in a while.I have related everything you have said to myself in some form. What an inspiration. I have 8 kgs to go to refeed and I cant wait. Congratulations and good luck for the future. Make sure you post a photo for all to see your new hot little bod.
Congratulations on completing the program, it's been a great pleasure reading through your journey.
Good on you for taking the step to do this now rather than eat your way through two decades and then decide to do it (guilty- if only time could be turned back.)
Good luck with life after cohens and yes, please post a pic.
Annie Lusion
Hi Girls!
thanks so much for your positive posts!!
well funny enough yesterday morning when i woke up what else did i have but my COHENS BREAKFAST...hahahhaa i even weighed and everything without even realising what i was doing until i sat at the table! creature of habit maybe? probably because i did exactly the same thing this morning too
What was the first non cohens thing i had i hear you say?? pretty silly but a can of COKE ZERO! i was at uni and studying for my mid term and needed a sweet treat, well there was no sprite zero or caffein fre DC in our food court so i opted for that!
still am drinking 2+ litres water
OOO also thought you girls might wanna know last night i was at a cafe with a girlfriend...we had gone late night shopping and i hadnt eaten since 3pm (it was already 9pm!) so we decided to stop off at a cafe to grab a bite to eat..
i felt so.....so....WEIRD!
I ordered the grilled vegetarian wrap (zuchini, eggplant, tomato, spinach, feta, capsicum grilled and in a toasted flatbread)
well i though this would be okay seeing it was mostly cohens (hahaha YES I AM STILL THINKING COHENS!!) the only differences was
A)Flat bread
B)it had pesto through it
C)pretty sure the veges had been grilled with oil
D)about 1 tablespoon sweet chilli sause for a treat.
my stomach was SOOOREEEEEEE
about 20 minutes later i was feeling really queasy/bloated/and was needing to..um..fart! are these symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome?
mmmm must check it out.
anyway girls hope everyone is doing swimmingly ill post again after the weekend with piccies!!
Well done Caroline. I could only imagine that it will take some time to know what you can and can't tolerate. Most of those places with the chargrilled vegies tend to have lots of oil and stuff, and your body is soooooo not used to it, but think of this stage as a great learning curve....you've done sooo well, and hopefully the ......um....fart...gave you some relief...lol.
Caroline, I have been reading your posts and you are definitely a great motivator.
You have even mentioned some things that I would not think of. Thank you very much.
I will be waiting to see your after pictures. So we can see the difference?
You took your measurements when you started, can you show us the difference now.
I hope you enjoy your celebration dinner, you deserve it.
