The Rules:

The *Eye of the Tiger* workout challenge will be running from Monday Oct.1st- Sunday Dec 23rd...twelve weeks total. This is a workout based challenge, the rules are as follows:

1) Give yourself 2 stripes for each day you workout for at least 45 minutes. Difficulty level should be at least that of a power walk...strolling is great but doesn't count for this.

2) Give yourself 1 stripe for everyday you drink at least 8 glasses of water.

3) Give yourself 3 stripes for each week you lose at least 1 lb.

There will be bonuses each week for chances to earn extra stripes. Each Monday participants will post their stripe total, except for the final total on Sunday Dec 23rd.

Now for the fun part...PRIZES! I get some pretty cool workout DVD's through work and will mail the following DVD's to the winners:

Wow, i'm so proud of myself...i drank the 8 glasses of water...lol. I do not like water at all, but i've been trying to work on drinking it. This challenge just adds to my motivation. How's everyone doing so far?
 
I'm proud of you too :)

I played hockey today so drinking 2L was not too bad.
I haven't attacked the stretching yet, seems to be a good challenge for this week since I have no flexibility:rolleyes:

I just hope i'm going to have the motivation I had today throughout the challenge!!
 
Hockey sounds fun. That what i need to do...some fun exercise...then it won't feel like a chore. Wow, you have a big water intake compared to me...lol. Going to start on the stretching tomorrow. Good luck with that.
 
Eating good in the neighborhood

Hey party people!

I wanted to ask yellowsub if it is okay to have stripes for eating healthy, i.e. not eating fast food or limiting yourself to 2 "treats" a week.

Just a thought.

Wow, you have a big water intake compared to me...

Well, didn't we drink the same amount? 8 glasses = 2L or 64 oz?

I should have drunk more since I played hockey twice and I'm heavier... I guess that's why I was 2 lbs lighter today.... didn't drink enough water...
 
Hi Peeps.....sounds like you all are doing awesome. I took Monday/Tues off because I am showing a friend around my town. Makes me realize what a big difference working out and eating right make in my life! I am actually excited to get back on track and you are all inspiring me.

But seriously..what kind of friend would I be if I didn't take her to have a slice (or two, or three) of NYC pizza and an egg cream at the deli?

As requested I will add add some nutrition stripes....I asked my trainer for suggestions and he had a good one:

3 additional stripes for each week you don't consume ANY sugary/artificial sugar drinks. This includes regular and diet soda, sugar/splenda in iced tea or coffee, and fruit juices with added sugar. This will begin at the start of week 2.

shanikachante I hate drinking water too! Feel like I always heading to the bathroom at work....lol. At least it's an excuse for a break.

Jerome wow hockey player you must be tough. I love going to games around here when I have a free night.

Oh okay, Jerome....lol...i suck at converting. Didn't know that was two liters, it sounds like alot.

Yellowsub...at least you got your bad food out the way early...lol.

The new challenge about the sugary drinks is one i'm going to have to work REALLY REALLY hard at....lol. But i can do it. (i hope :confused:)

how is everyone doing?i m not doing good enough about drinking water coz i m fasting these days(religious fasting so i cant avoid this)and its nearly 13 and half hours long ,so if i calculate, in 24hrs i fast for nearly 14hrs so it left 10hrs when i can eat and drink ,but on those 10hrs i sleep for 6-8 hours ,so only time i have got to eat or drink is 2-4 hours.so on those times i cant drink 8 glasses of water (but i try my best).

but i'd appreciate any advise for this prob as i dont wanna loose these 3 stripes
and right now i m very poor in exercising (coz of fasting) as well but this thing going to be end soon ,then i can back to normal

and i have got an idea (if yellowsub likes it) to have stripes for eating 5 portion of vegetables and fruit. we might be motivated to eat more veggies in this case

I have a question too.. is it too late for me to join? I would really like to do this challenge because volleyball ends in 4 weeks, and I want to be able to keep motivated to continue exercising.
 
xorie sure you can join! Anyone can join at anytime but the sooner the better to earn those stripes!

casanova I agree so let's say that everyday you eat 5 portions of veggies and/or fruit you can give yourself two stripes for the day. Let's start this on week 2 along with our no sugary drinks challenge.

beautydiva how's the fast going? I did the master cleanser one time and didn't eat for ten days, very tough! Thanks for the nutrition suggestion!

shanikachante Unfortunately crystal light is a sugar substitute so that would not be allowed on the challenge. I have been drinking diet coke like crazy since I am going to try and not do it for the rest of the 7 weeks...so hard!

Question to everyone: What do you say to yourself to get on track when you don't feel like eating right or working out? One of my friends today told me "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels" and I am making lil notecards for my wall to inspire me....would love to hear some more positive thoughts for us all!
 
I just think about how much I want this, and how i've failed before.
I just don't want to give up anymore.

I also think about all the nice clothes i can wear, and how much easier shopping will be!:)

I think i'm doing pretty good so far. I work out for at least 45 minutes everyday[usually, sometimes im like BAM!SLACK] and i'm working on improving my water intake.
Vegetables will definitely be a challenge for me, i've never been good with that.

how is everyone doing so far? :)
 
I've been doing good so far....the hardest part for me is the water. But i'm working out more because thats the only time i automatically go straight to water. For the rest of the day, i remember the challenge and force myself to do it. I write it on my board everyday and check it off everytime i drink water.
 
I'm dreading the sugarrr, I live off it.
I've been meaning to leave that stuff behind, this'll give me a good start!
