No, one would use less weight with free weight fly's is what I was referring to. :) And, believe they are superior in the sense of having to stabilize the DB weight in the range of motion during the rep sequence.

Best regards,

Chillen

I agree. I should prolly do the flies with the DB's. Might be more efficient.
I bet I could only rep out 30 lbs per arm doing that.

I hate that machine but I feel I have to use it since I bought it. LOL
it has its benefits I guess.:cool3:

If you do perform these, be careful with your shoulders. Some can have problems develop with their shoulders because they "go to far back" when bringing the weight down and can bring the shoulder to an awkward position.

When performing these imagine hugging a tree with arms slightly bent or arms slightly bent and hugging Big-T when he is on top :).

Best wishes

Thats why I use the machine. It is an awkward exercie with the DB's

I'll give them a shot and stay light until I get my form down pat.

with the face pulls I'm having a hard time keeping my balance. Do you lean back away from the machine or do you fight to stand up straght. I'm not sure I'm doing them right. I'm fighting to keep my feet planted and my body straight.

I lean back ever so slightly. If you are standing straight, you are essentially at a 90 degree angle with the floor, I'd say I'm at about a 80 degree angle, just helps me focus on the pulling and not so much the balancing.

The machine we do them on could be different though. I use a rope first of all, and the cable attaches about a half foot higher than my head (I'm 6'4'').

ok yeah mine is a few inches above my head as well. Its a bitch to stand straight and pull like that. I don't want to use my body for momentum either that would be cheating. I'll keep that in mind next time I do them.
thanks ho

No problem pimp. I'd also mention that the thing I do em on is typically what people do lat pulldowns on, and to help with balance I'll keep one foot on the floor, and another foot on the seat of the machine. Helps big time.

no ****. Ok that sounds like I could do a ****load more weight then.
Yeah I use my lat rack. But I take the lat bar off and use a strap with a small handle. I think you know what I'm talking about. I can't really explain it much better. LOL

I tried doing them with 1 foot forward and 1 back for balance but wasn't sure if that was proper form or not. Seemed cheating to me.

Yeah I know what you are talking about, we are doing it on the same thing. The way I see it is this: I'm trying to isolate my upper back to do the pulling obviously, since I'm pulling it to my face...if I need to have a foot up on the seat to brace myself, that only helps me to my goal. My upper body barely moves, except when I'm doing my absolute heaviest sets.

Word, shiz happens. We don't expect you to be a full time loser, man. :D

well full time loser I am but my deadlines are over so watch out forum. The Krak is bak.

Gotta make those mods earn their keep.
