'Cause I've been down, but I was never out!
Its hard to believe that 8 years ago, around this time I was getting out of the Marine Corps at 205 lbs, and today I sit here at 255 down from a high of 285 just a few months ago. WOW, looking at that in writing I don't know whats more shocking, that I gained 80 pounds or that its actually been 8 years! I don't have any excuses for gaining the weight other than pure laziness. In the Corps, I was running 15+ miles a week, when I got out I stopped exercising all together and never really cared what I ate. The weight just piled on. I think I'm on the right track, just eating healthier, drinking less, and exercising again. I'm not running again yet, as I don't think my knees could take it at this weight. I am biking and walking though, as well as lifting weights. It doesn't feel like a diet plan this time.........I think I may have actually decided that losing weight is worth a lifestyle change and I'm kind of digging it. I have many motivations for losing weight, but to be quite honest, THE motivation that has kept this going so far is that I am recently divorced, back on the market, and I really just want to, well to put it nicely.......I want to date more Its just that simple. And I don't EVER want to be fat again.
The one thing in my diet that I see so many people say to cut out is the fruit juices. I would rather swallow a handful of broken glass than eat fruit, so I drink it. I try to stick to low sugar or no sugar added juices though.
