Do you have any favorite melancholic songs?

Just listening to 'Toy Soldiers' by Martika. Pretty melancholic, that one.

I haven't heard that name in ages.... Her most popular song..... something about sobriety, wasn't a very happy song.
twist in my sobriety.. just found it.

Lately I discovered a rather unpopular song by the Sweedish band Johnossi called Summer Breeze. Check it out, I love it!

I've found a few more songs since I edited the first post. I can't post them all right now, but I'll post the ones I think are the best;

-(Sarah McLachlan - Angel)-

-(Nick Cave - People just ain't no good)-

-(Pain of Salvation - Sisters)-

-(The National - Sorrow)-

-(Coldplay - Gravity)-

Oh sheesh....Angel....now there's a melancholic song if I've ever heard one. Have you ever heard this version of it:

Love it. :beating:

This one is really really sad. Probably the saddest one I've heard... Not even the saddest songs make me cry, but this one did. :(

Yeah... Sarah L. is a genius writer. People still copy her style.
I was a huge fan of her first couple of albums, but seemed to sort of forget about her after that......
In my older age, I decided I need to stop listening to stuff that brings me down as often.

Okay, really....
bands like The Cure and Sarah L..... you probably shouldn't even bother mentioning their songs... just look at EVERY song they've written!

I've found quite a few songs since the last time I posted here.

(GREAT song!)

(Damien writes amazing songs. I totally recommend him)

And that's it for today! :)

I didn't realize it at first, but 'Morningstar' By AFI is pretty sad...

I saw a star beneath the stairs glowing through the melting walls.
Who will be the first to begin their fall?
Or will we become one?

Am I the star beneath the stairs?
Am I a ghost upon the stage?
Am I your anything?

I saw a star beneath the stairs glowing bright before descent
and in the morning there is nothing left... but what's inside of me.

Am I the star beneath the stairs?
Am I a ghost upon the stage?
Am I your anything?

Am I the star beneath the stairs?
Am I a ghost upon the stage?
Am I your anything?

And I don't want to die tonight; Will you believe in me?
And I don't want to fall into the light...

Will you wish upon?
Will you walk upon me?
I don't want to die tonight...

Will you believe in me tonight?

Am I the star beneath the stairs?
Am I a ghost upon the stage?
Am I your anything?

Am I the star beneath the stairs?
Am I a ghost upon the stage?
Am I your anything?

Just found this one and I really liked it. It's called "Ballad of Frank Dupree".
