Weight-Loss Death by Drinking TOO MUCH Water

Weight-Loss
thanks everyone for the input. I like nickasher suggestion of dividing your weight in half and that being the number of oz needed each day

I pee pee clear.

haha steve. i pee pee clear too, unless i eat beets then its pink !

tmi? ... nahhhh :p pretty pee !!!

I've heard from a kidney specialist that you should drink water only when your thirsty, b/c it hurts your kidneys to consume tons of water. (You are thirsty more than you think.) I always drink when I'm thirsty, I always have, the only difference now is that I drink water instead of sugary drinks.
my pee= light yellow

"Getting your water in" seems to be the biggest weightloss trick around on the net. People always seem to be talking about it but I'm also not sure of the benefits of overconsuming 100s of ounces of water. Actually, I know nothing about water in relation to losing weight so I'm probably being about as helpful as Steve was in volunteering that he "pee pees" clear .

So with my less than limited knowledge, IMHO I sort of agree with TomO that its urban myth that all this water will flush away the fat. Rather, I think substituting water for other high calorie drinks like soda, milk, juice, etc. is really more the point: you're cutting hundreds of calories out of your day and that would add a lot in losing weight (if you were the soda/juice drinkin' type before, that is).

I think you should just pay attention to your body. If you are uncomfortable or causing pain to your body it is too much water. For everyone the answer is different so just drink water naturally without forcing it.

I totally agree that you should pretty much listen to your body on it. If drinking water is working for you then keep doing it. Maybe the whole drinking water thing and lossing weight is just that you need to be the right person for it. My sister's boyfriend lost like 100 pounds. He drinks about a gallon - 2 gallons a day...but he also moves furniture for a living which is a lot of lifting and hard work....he sweats most of the water off any ways lol...so I guess is just up to the person doing it if it is right for them or not.

Some very good points made by all in here....I will definately have to look into this more...I would have to agree that this is one topic that is very contraversal....hmmmm this has me thinking way too much now lol!!

well, here is something else to "trouble" your mind. Yes drinking water cuts calories but can that help you lose weight. For example I have stopped drinking juices, pop, etc since last year November. Has my weight dropped dramatically? HELL no lol. So Is that another myth.... maybe...maybe not!

I have just started drinking a ton of water and I got to say I feel great. Even now at 1 in the morning Im dancing around my room signing my fav song. and I kind of contribute my new found energy to water power.

I pee pee clear.

i've always made it a rule to never drink anything that's the same color of what comes out of me - that rule has generally applied to some of the lesser quality beers or mountain dew soda...

does this mean I have to give up water too?

Too much water?

I haven't really made a note of how much water I've been drinking lately but I know it's more than 2 litres.. probably between 3 and 5 litres per day

Is there such thing as drinking too much of it?

One friend said I should be drinking 2 litres per day while another said if I want to lose weight I should drink SEVEN.. that can't be right?

there are a bazillion threads on water on this forum and as many opinions...

The answer is - Drink as much water as you feel you need...

The consistant answer I've seen when I've googled the question is to check the color of your urine.. unless there's a medical reason for it to be otherwise -it should be pale yellow to almost clear (steve will chime in and say he pee pees clear here :D)

A formula I've found is half your body weight in ounces.... but many many foods have water in it - so don't get too hung up over what you should be drinking..

Drink as much as you feel you need.

Drink as much as you want, but make sure you drink alot. Don't worry about water poisoning as it only appears if you consume large amounts of water at one time, not over a day. ie, if you drink 7 litres in one setting, you'll get sick, if you drink 7 litres over 24 hours, you're just fine. Don't worry about water, just drink alot, and dont wait until you think you 'need' it, cause then some people may not drink enough. Dont wait until you're thirsty, just drink water when you feel you can.

I drink 8 L a day, and if I do get a headache or anything like that I'll stop for about 30min. to 1hr and I'll eat something with sodium, to reset my electrolytes.

Just drink as much as you can, but if you start to get headaches or feel sick stop for a short while and eat something small, you'll be fine.

yeh nert, don't worry bout wat everyone says about drinking too much...if you drink too much at once. well yes its bad for you...but you can filter 15 litres a day - you're capable of it. i managed that once over the course of day at work, my average was about 10 litres a day. after 2 weeks i couldn't tell if i was wearing makeup or not, my skin was so clear!!! for a 19 year old, not too bad. then someone said 'gah thats bad, 2 litres a day is enough...'

but i didn't see any bad side effects at all.

summer and winter does make a huge difference though...where i am its summer in a month, so i can go back to drinking water all day long, and hopefully not thinking about eating so damn much...

I've also heard that you can drink too much water as well. I want to make sure to get enough, so I try for 128 oz. Don't always make it, though. :D
