Daniel's trip to Hell and back

How many push-ups can you do in one go? Can you bust out 100?

Good luck with your training, looks like it is going well, when do you apply for the Navy Seals?

i can do about 65 in one go. That is with really focusing on correct form. If i slack on form i can do about 80, which really doesn't matter since perfect form is required. I'm not sure if i'm going to apply for navy seals or air force combat controllers. I've been doing research and am planning on speaking with a few recruiters in the near future.

This was my swim yesterday
swim-
100y warmup
500y free
4x50 underwater 25's sprint 25's
200 kick board
200y cooldown

max pullups-13 (found out they test pullups not chinups on the past. I'm better at chin ups)
pushups 65/45
abs

My workout today,

5 mile run this morning
pushups 40/40/30/30/20/20/20
situps matched the pushups

afternoon
tennis practice-1 hour
short sprint work-45 minutes

Heard of a cool workout idea. You buy a deck of cards and you match a type of pushup with the suit. hearts is normal, diamonds is closed grip, etc. Then you flip a card and do that many reps of that type of pushup. It turns out to be 368 i heard. Something i'm going to try and work to.

Nite

Ya, monotony is getting to be an issue. also the pullups are tested overhand not underhand. not a huge difference, but i can definately tell it is using a different part of my tricep.

Anyhow, been 2 days since my last post. This is what i did yesterday.

wednesday morning:
1 hour full body lift

wednesday afternoon:
1 hour of tennis
30 minute stationary bike
6/6 wide grip pullups, 7/7 closed grip pullups, 7/7 chinups, 6/6 pullups
10x20 push ups superset with 10x20 situps

Felt REALLY GREAT about my workout yesterday. Did a total of 52 pullups. Feel like i'm making some great progress.

This was my workout today
morning:
30 minute stationary bike
8x25 push ups
8x25 sit ups
3 way planks

afternoon:
2.5 hours of tennis
1 hour of running drills

The pool reopens on monday. I'm going to start swimming a mile everyday. Going to need to run a little less, but i'm starting to feel some wear on my legs so i think the swimming is a good alternative. Plus, i need to really push the swimming. All in all it's a good plan for the next few weeks or so.

This is what i did today.

morning:
hour lift
3 300 yard shuttles
30 minute run in the pool

afternoon:
tennis 1 hr
140 pushups
abs
pullups: 2x6 wide, 2x7 closed, 2x6 under, 2x5 pullups

Hey everyone, decided to take my day off today instead of tomorrow. the rec was closed and i didn't feel like working out in my apartment. I have a million distractions in here and i can never focus for too long.

However, i did walk a lot today. I wanted to wake up early and get outside for a little light exercise. It was gameday here so i just strolled around the festivities for an hour or so.

Had a pretty good workout today.

Ran 2 miles
biked 30 minutes
10x20 pushups (alternated normal with knuckle)
10x20 situps
3 way planks
3 way crunches

took about an hour and 20 minutes. I was happy. tennis practice is over for the semester so i can start doing a little more of my own workouts. Makes me very happy.

Had a good couple of workouts today.

Morning:
stationary bike - 20 minutes

2x6 wide grip pullups
2x7 closed grip pullups
2x7 chinups
2x6 pullups
Pushups - 40/40/30/30/20/20/10/10
Did abs between each set of push ups

Swam 1 mile - 28:04

Glad a finally swam a mile. Decided i'm going to swim a mile a day for the forseeable future. I was happy to be under 30 minutes but i can definately improve upon my time today. Considering i was having trouble swimming 100 yards about a month ago i've made some great progress in the pool.

afternoon:
full body lift - 1 hour

Had a great lift. Last 2 sets of bench i did 180. I think my previous max was about 185 so the fact that i could rep 180 2x3 made me really happy. I actually got it up pretty easy.

All in all a great day of work.

Hey EVERYONE! Had a good workout today, feeling really excited about the progress i'm making.

sprints with 25 lb sleds-1 hour

Felt good about the swim this morning. Going to keep on doing it. Tomorrow i get to do pull ups too. Curious to see if i can get the full 52 rep multi-set i've been going for. Monday i did it easy, but that was after an easy workout weekend. We'll see.

All right, had a good loooong workout today. Actually 2 looong workouts today. Pretty brutal and i'm having trouble keeping my eyes open at the moment.

morning:
full body lift - 1.5 hours
interval run in 5 feet of water - 48 minutes

afternoon:
tennis practice - 1 hour
pull ups - 48
elevated push ups - 150
sit ups - 150
brief swim

I was extremely tired today. Stayed up till about 1030 last night which is late for me now (haha). I slept in till about 9 and then got my work out in.

morning:
swim-
500 y free
50 y kick, 25 y underwater, 50 y kick
400 y free
50 y kick, 25 y underwater, 50 y kick
300 y free
50 y kick, 25 y underwater, 50 y kick
3.8 mile run in 28:58

afternoon:
agility work and sprints - 50 mins
100 pushups
100 situps
40 arm haulers

Thinking back on the day the swim really kicked my ass. I dragged big time through the run and in the afternoon workout i really really felt like ****. Seems like after 4 or 5 days of these kind of workouts i am dragging. Tomorrow is the last workout day of the week and i'm looking forward to the rest.

the run was a nice easy pace. Really enjoyed it actually. Lately when i've been running it's been for speed and trying to push myself. This time it was just a nice easy pace. I will work out today and report back tonight. Going to get my max push ups today. Hoping to get 70+..

-daniel

Hey folks, quick post tonight. getting tired and don't feel well.

played paintball all day, dont' know if that counts as work.

tonight i did this:
stationary bike - 30 minutes
pushups 70/35
abs

Pretty lazy tonight as i was up and about all day. Tomorrow i plan to sort of re dedicate myself to my goals. I've made good progress thus far and need to keep pushing it.

Hey all, got a good workout in today. Did sort of a mini-triathlon...

morning:
swim - 1600 y free
stationary bike - 25 minutes
run - 3 miles/7:30 miles
pullups - 16 (new max)/6/6/6

afternoon:
full body lift - 1 hour
100 pushups with elevated legs 20/20/15/15/10/10/5/5
superset with roman chair leg raises 10/10/8/8/6/6/4/4
100 pushups normal 20/20/15/15/10/10/5/5
superset with crunches 20/20/15/15/10/10/5/5

All in all was a good days work. I'm going to do the same thing tomorrow. Instead of 25 minutes of biking i'm going to do 30 minutes. If i have time i'm going to run 4 miles as well. I was super stoked to get 16 chin ups in a row as you can imagine.

I also spoke with an airforce recruiter today and planned a meeting for thanksgiving week when i'll be back home. Feels good to get the ball rolling a little bit. I told him i wanted to join spec ops and he was like "you realize those guys are insane right?" I was glad to hear it, more and more i'm positive of my decision.

Hey all, similar workout to yesterday. Here goes...

morning:
swim - 1600 yards
bike - 25 minutes
run - 3 miles/7:30 pace
100 pushups with resistance
abs

afternoon:
sprints with 35 pound sleds - 1 hr

i meant to do more push ups and sit ups in the afternoon but i honestly just forgot. Tomorrow i'm only going to swim, going to give my body a little bit of a rest. Got pull ups tomorrow though. I was looking online today at weight vests and am contemplating getting a 25 pound one. I'm a little afraid of hurting my legs if i get it though.

-Daniel

Hey again, had a pretty good workout today. Took a little bit of a break from cardio today.

morning:
full body lift - 1 hour
interval training (swim/run) - 30 minutes
ankle rehab - 30 minutes

afternoon:
tennis practice - 1 hour
pull ups - wide 6/6, closed 7/7, under 7/7, over 7/7
push ups - 12x20 = 240 /superset/
sit ups - 10x20, 3 way crunches, 1 minute plank

Tomorrow and Friday i'm going to go back to the mini triathlon. I've been doing plenty of research online about how to weight lifting works and by all the information i've read apparently i'm working to hard. I don't know how that is, because i've also read that during spec ops training you can expect to run between 4-8 miles a day and do 200-500 push ups a day. On top of that there are plenty of other exercises as well.
