Thanks Everyone!!

Winter is here for most of the year so you either move somewhere tropical or get up off your ass and doing something in the cold weather, I guess.

Man, I can't believe how busy this forum is. I was halfway down the second page but I guess it has been a while since I posted so too bad for me-haha.

Things have been pretty status quo for me. Running and boot camp. Food hasn't been too bad- had my ups and downs but the exercise helps with the downs. I can't believe Christmas is so close. I guess I had better get out and get some shopping done. Although I did buy a new fitness tracker for myself for Christmas. I bought a fitness tracker/ running watch all combined into one. That is one thing that used to bug me about my Vivofit. When I ran I had to have my Garmin on too as the Vivofit didn't have an interval trainer built in or the functionality of the Garmin.

I run using the Walk/ Run method. I never used to use it but I found I actually got faster using it. What I do is run for 10 minutes and walk for 1 minute throughout the whole race/run. I started using this after my first 10K as that is when I moved up to 1/2 marathons. I joined a running group as I wanted to do this distance safely and with some guidance so I joined the group. They use the 10 and 1 method and I found it weird to begin with but over time and realizing this will make me a faster runner I quickly adopted it. I really like it now and having a device to be able to set to beep at 10 minutes and 1 minute make it a lot easier.

I bought a Garmin Vivosmart HR+ GPS Activity Tracker. It was expensive as hell but with Black Friday it was half price. It is waterproof and will also work for cycling and swimming. Seems to combine the functionality of my Garmin Forerunner 10 and my old vivofit into one. At least I hope it does. We will see.

Weather hasn't been too bad here. Still only have a skiff of snow and it is still around 32F. Which for this time of year is really good.

That is it for today. Keep fighting the fight!

I love your energy :) Going to steal some of it to get my ass into gear again.

Well it has been a bit since I have been on here. Looks like lots of activity though which is good.

I trust everyone that celebrates Christmas had a good one. I do celebrate it and I did have a good one. Lots of family and food. It is funny, I never really overate during the season - I am always careful as to quantity. I did indulge a little though and I am paying for it. Funny how different kinds of foods even in small quantities can still make you feel bloated and nasty.

Time to get back on the normal eating route. Started today and am feeling a little better already. I am off from running and boot camp this week- I feel sometimes my body needs a break but maybe that is why I am feeling so bloated, although I don't think I have gained any weight. Dare I say I have become an exercise fanatic-lol. Maybe I am, but I can live with that.

I got a new fitness tracker for Christmas. It is a Garmin Vivosmart HR + Activity Tracker. I love it so far. It allows me to track steps, stairs, HR, along with a GPS and Walk/Run feature that allows me to do my 10 and 1's. It also can be used for swimming and cycling. Best of both worlds as far as I can tell. I used to have a Vivofit but when I run I would need to wear my Garmin 10 for the interval timer. With this new one it has both in one and it is way smaller than my Garmin 10. I have tried it once and so far so good- we will see.

I am going to try to catch up on some of your diaries and see what is happening with all you good people!

That is it for today. Keep fighting the fight!

Well I had a bit of a sabbatical. Life has been busy so haven't had much time to post on here. Although I have been trying to keep up with all your diaries.

I am back at boot camp and felt every bad thing I ate. Oh well this too shall pass. The holiday season was always a write off for me. I ALWAYS ate way too much stuff. This time around was little indulgences but nothing too major. Still felt it in boot camp though.

I haven't started back running yet. This week is a write off as I may have pulled my Achilles in boot camp class. So I will let it rest and hit the running hard next week. I have a 10K coming up next month and I had better get my butt in gear. Funny though, the farthest I have run in the past little while is about 7 K in my training so 10K doesn't scare me like it used to. I think I could probably run a 10K next week and finish so I am not too worried about it but I still want to do well so training is essential. Beside this run is called the Hypothermic Half and it is in traditionally one of our coldest months so it could be a frosty 10K.

I know January is a time when the everyone comes out of the woodwork and hits the gyms and exercise classes. I remember being in the gym in January and there were always a lot of new faces and by Feb most were all gone. I know the struggles we all have. How hard it is to lose weight and feel better about ourselves but we can't just do it for a month or 6 months or even a year. For most of us, this will be a lifetime struggle. And a struggle it is- believe me. I have been doing this most of my life and just recently realized this isn't a diet anymore. It is the way it is forever if I want to stay at my weight. I might as well get used to eating healthy and stop overindulging where I shouldn't be. It just isn't worth it!!

Okay I am off my soap box. If I had all the answers I would be sitting in my mansion on a beach somewhere-lol. I know what is working for me may not work for anyone else but one thing I do know is it takes a lot of support from different sources to beat this. This forum is a wonderful supportive place where we can voice our struggles and grievances and get only love and support back. For this I want to THANK YOU for all the support you have all given me over the years. Without you I would not be where I am.

That is it for today. Keep fighting the fight!

It is a forever thing Cowboy. It took me a long time to realise that & accept that & make permanent changes. There's no point railing against it & yo yoing for the rest of our lives.

It is a wonderful, supportive place, also thanks to you too xo

Funny how it seemed to take me forever to figure this out. Thanks, Cate!

Weather has been horrible up here for the last month or so. Yesterday we had a windchill of -46 C or -50.8 F. Hard to run in that, even for me. Sunday it is supposed to be 6C or 43 F. How can we have a 93 degree F swing in 4 days. Why is it I live here-lol?

Things have been status quo with me. Still not running as much as I would like but going back out tonight again. I am still doing the boot camp thing. I have a 10K run a month from today. Hopefully it isn't going to be -50F but if it is I am still going to give it a go. I only have a month to train for this run but I had been running 5-7 K anyway and I am not looking at any PB so I should finish okay. The run is along our river valley so it should be good for scenery. The route is actually along my favorite places to run so I am looking forward to it.

Don't know if I mentioned this but my son and his wife got a new puppy for Christmas. The puppy is a cowboy corgi. She is as cute as a button and nice that we have the same name-lol. I am not sure she is a kid friendly puppy as she has a bad temper already. My son and wife don't have any kids so no concerns there. She may grow out of it but when she doesn't get her own way she gets right pissed off-lol. I have had a lot of dogs in my lifetime and I haven't seen a 7 week old puppy get that angry. I am sure she will be fine as she gets older.

I am feeling in the January blues. I hate January up here. Usually cold and miserable and hard to get outside to do anything. Gives you the blehs. I am hoping getting back into training for my races/runs will get me out of the funks. I have 8 runs signed up this year. The most I have ever done. All 10K or 15K runs. I am still toying with the idea of training for a marathon but we will see how that goes. I would like to do a destination marathon. Maybe a tropical island one or maybe Rock and Roll Marathon in Vegas. Although I wish our dollar wasn't so bad against the American dollar. Costs an extra 35 cents on the dollar.

I have been trying to get to all of your diaries but there are so many now-lol. Nice to see but not nice to see people struggling. I guess it is what it is. We all have our struggles.

That is it for today. Keep fighting the fight!

Wow that is COLD! awesome that you manage to get yourself to run, great way to build strength inside!

That's a lot of runs! Reminds me I should sign up for my tri's/runs soon, before they are full.

January blues... I know what you mean. This year I don't have it (december was tougher though). I hope to keep flourishing throughout the winter, but we'll see.

What would makes your blues a happy one?

I find it really hard to stay on top of the Winter blues too, Cowboy. Getting back into training should help lift the fog. At least when you are aware that it's a seasonal thing you know that it will pass. I'll send you a little bit of our warmth & sunshine xoxo

Not surprised she is an angry puppy - 7 weeks is far too early to be taken from mummy corgi :( Hope she grows out of it. And that your weather improves - cold as fuck here as well but no snow :(

I've got Rock N Roll Vegas on my bucket list, too! One of these years. A 93 temperature difference is the most extreme thing I've ever heard of. How on earth is your body supposed to get adjusted to anything?

Hi Tri,

I am not sure what eventually gets me out of the funk. I always seem to have this at this time of year. I am feeling better now. Exercise and running seems to help. Helps that the weather has been a bit better as well.
