Cowboy's Diary

You don't "get" biscuits and gravy, cowboy? I'm sorry, that just does not compute with my southern brain. Then again, I eat grits and all of the other comfort foods I'm legally obligated to enjoy. Gonna go have me some Cracker Barrel now. 'Merica!

I don't "get" biscuits & gravy or grits either, even after looking them up. I can't imagine the appeal.

Fat+carbs in roughly equal quantities activates your brain's reward system. Once your body knows what to expect it will like. End of story,

Oy, Cracker Barrel, just nope. The music alone is enough to want me to OD on pancake syrup (I should mention that I despise country music the way mongooses hate cobras). Food's OK.

I do like barbecue. I don't know if Arkansas counts as southern barbecue, but I can say that we have a place in CT that compares to that.

I see I have started a Biscuit and Gravy war-lol. No one move or the biscuit gets eaten-haha. Let the games begin. I do love a good biscuit but like mine with honey. That being said biscuits and anything are not good for you. Too many calories in those delicious clumps of heaven- DAMN IT!!!

Boot camp was painful yet again. Planks and anything that looks like a plank should be outlawed. I know, I know- they are good for your core but they can hurt. I guess it is a good kind of hurt- sorta.

My food intake has been good. I still don't think I am eating enough for the exercise I do but weight has been good so I guess I will continue as is. I still haven't stepped on the scale so I don't know for sure but my clothes are actually feeling looser than normal and I think I am starting to tone with all the exercise I am doing. I notice it in my arms and shoulders and around my middle. So I guess the planks and the pain are worth it.

Weekend weather looks good so outside work is on the agenda. Get my patio furniture put away, plants taken out, Christmas lights up and assorted other tasks. Then maybe rest for a bit,

That is it for today. Have a good weekend. Keep fighting the fight!

I love it when you can feel a difference in your clothes. That's one of the best feelings. Well, until you have to spend money to replace those clothes with smaller ones... then I'm not as thrilled. haha!

It is funny because I had achieved my goal already but then went back up a bit but I still had my old skinny clothes. So I didn't have to buy anything. Although I seem to have a running clothes problem-lol. I have enough running shirts, shorts and coats to supply a whole running group( hangs head).

Ha, good that you still have your old skinny clothes. Did you gain weight very fast, or have those clothes already been there for many years? ;)

It is smart to keep plenty of clothes if it can get that cold. Temperatures still go up to 15 degrees (Celsius) here in the Netherlands... and just over a week ago we had a day with over 20 degrees (probably the last one of this year. Interesting to know that it's already that cold and snowy over there!

I have skinnier clothes... clothes that don't fit now, that will probably fit when I am 6-7 kg lighter, but when I ready my goal I think those clothes will already be kind of loose! :)

No I gained the weight over less than a year. Should have stopped myself earlier but it takes me a while to build up my self control -haha. . The clothes were still good.

Yeah it is going to be a bad Winter over here. They are predicting lots of snow and -40C for some days. I am NOT looking forward to that at all.

It is always nice to put something on that you had packed away because it wouldn't fit you as it was too small and when you put it on it is too big!!

Did you get rid of your big clothes as you shrank? I have smaller clothes that I kept for "when I lose the weight" and it's fun to start fitting into them again but I also still have the stuff I just shrank out of. hmm something to think about. If I hang on to them it will be easier to go back if I can just grab a bigger top or pants than if I have to go shopping for new clothes.

I still run in -40. Believe it or not I run in the same clothes in -40 as I do in -15 except that I have a balaclava on. I usually have a base layer under my clothes. It used to be amazing to me that someone would even think about running when it is that cold- now that I am doing it, the run seems just like any other run except a bit cooler-LOL. You actually don't need as many clothes as you would think. Your body generates a lot of heat when you run. The key is not to dress too warmly as that makes you sweat and then you can get hypothermia. I actually would way rather run in -40 than +40.

In fact in February they have a run here called the Hypothermic 1/2. I think I am going to be running that next year. Now February is traditionally one of our coldest months so the temp can be -40- hence the name-haha. There is a 1/2 marathon, a 10K and a 5K. I think I am going to do the 10K. I haven't run a 1/2 marathon for a while now. My running partner hurt herself a couple of years back and doesn't want to push that distance again. That being said I want to run at least another one and I still have a Full Marathon on my bucket list. I hope to stroke that one off my bucket list next year some time.

Hi ShariLee,

Welcome to the forum. I actually do get rid of my old clothes. I don't want them around as a safety net. I want to take away that net so I don't gain any weight and have the clothes to just go back and forth from my skinny clothes to my larger clothes. Although, just in case I do save my favorite pair of big jeans and one T-Shirt-lol.

That sounds horrible, CB. I do not like the idea of running in a balaclava at all. Does it not just look like you're fleeing a crime scene after robbing a liquor store or something? I would feel terrrrror if I saw a dude running at me with a balaclava. Hilarious. Works for you though - you have no excuses which is awesome. I would be hibernating my ass off in that weather.

I did a freezing cold swim thing in Idaho a few years back.. called the Polar Plunge or something. Was insanely cold - my poor British body could not handle it at all. We are a gentle folk used to mostly rain.. was very alarming to be in icy water. Kudos to you
