Hey Cowboy - sounds like things are going well! Usually, the runners pack has your t-shirt / bib (with your number) / and timing chip. They usually throw in lots of flyers and sometimes you might get a free water bottle, pens, etc... Good luck this Sunday!!
Hi Cowboy! I'm glad you started a journal. Man the last 10+ pounds can be a real pain. I am looking forward to hearing how your run goes this Sunday. I have only done one, as the last leg of a spring triathlon I did 2 years ago. So I can't really offer any advice. I guess if I were to do one, I'd take it easy the first mile. I always feel better after the first mile is out of the way.
Good luck!
Derrick
Hi Cowboy,
Great job yesterday on the run and on the 3 lbs down, even if not all 3 stick, hopefully 1 you were hoping for will. Its so nice to get compliments on things you haven't gotten complimented in years or ever isn't it? When I got to my lowest weight I was in a store trying on a jacket and two women walked by and told me I should get it, one of the two said "I wish I was as petite as her, that would look terrible on me" I had to turn around to check and see if she was talking about someone behind me. It was such a good feeling. Have fun with your weight training and have a wonderful weekend!
Congrats on the 10K!
I can't believe those running conditions - I'm such a clutz that I'd have seriously hurt myself running on that ice. I trip over specs of dust in perfect running conditions!
You did amazing for having to run on that ice! WAY TO GO!!!
Good luck with re-evaluating and setting new goals. My original goal was to get to 135 lbs and I met that goal last fall without too much of a struggle, so I set it lower and now want to get to 125 or to fit into this old pair of size 6 jeans. But ever since then I've done nothing but struggle! I just can't seem to keep the iron willpower that I had last year to get to this next goal. I slack off too much.
I hope you have an easier time than me setting and reaching your next goals!
Hey Cowboy - great job finishing your first 10k. I think your time was fantastic - even better with the conditions you described.
You are not too old to run a marathon! Maybe a goal could be to run a 5k or 10k each month and when you are bored with that - sign up for a 1/2 marathon.....then a marathon! You can do it!
Hey dude Haven't stopped by your diary yet so thought I'd say hi. Don't worry about missing a work-out..Know it sucks when you want to and you can't though. Bad luck with your tires
Have a good day
Hi Cowboy! You are doing awesome! Your 5k run of 20 minutes is FLYING! I don't think I could ever run that time, not in my wildest dreams. I just don't have the running talent I guess. Now get me into some water and that's a different story. Man what I would do to run a 20 minute 5K.
Your 10K run sounded very challenging and adventurous. You should do another one that doesn't involve ice. LOL
Congrats on your weight also. Man, 182 pounds! So close to your goal.
Finally, I can totally relate to being so sore that you can barely work out. I'm really hurting right now and I'm going to take a few days off to let my body recuperate.
Keep up the great work!
Derrick
Thank you. The running really took its toll on my body and energy. I just sat at home the rest of the afternoon and went to bed early-lol.
Yeah, I am not sure on the goal thing. I know I should have one but I don't know what it should be. Was 135 the goal you set when you first started? I don't know if I set a lower weight goal if I would be able to have the same attitude and I think I would struggle too. It wears you down knowing you can't eat that or do that- I don't know-lol. I don't think I can run a longer distance - I mean I could, but I don't know if I want to. 10 K is not a bad distance and I know I can run farther but I don't know if my body can handle the added stress of a half marathon. I guess I could give it a shot and see what happens.
I know I have to do something with the excess skin and building muscle should help with that but I don't want to gain weight- if that makes sense-lol. I think I have too many goals being met all at once and I am just confused as to where to go next. I mean I set the 10K goal on New Years Day and I didn't think I would meet that so soon plus I am like 7 pounds from my weight loss goal. So confusing-haha. I am going to talk to my boot camp instructors and see if they have any ideas. Thanks for stopping by!!
Yes, my initial goal was 135 lbs. Way back on March 1st, 2010 I decided I was finally going to take the plunge and do something about my weight. I googled a few sites to see what was considered a healthy weight for my height and age and most sites said I should be between 125 and 145. So I picked the number right smack in the middle as my goal and figured I'd see how things looked when I got there and adjust accordingly.
Well, I've been there since the first part of November last year - just hovering a few pounds on either side of 135. I stepped up the weight training and increased the daily calorie budget from 1200 to 1500, and tried to focus more on eating protien. Even though my weight has stayed pretty constant I've lost another inch off my waist and I have seen big improvements in my skin. The weight from fat comes off a heck of a lot easier than the extra skin does! I've read that your skin is a living organism though, and it can heal itself - to some extent.
After badly breaking my arm in the fall of 2009 and seeing how long it took that to heal (docs told me 18 months before I would be fully back to normal) I figured my skin must be similar. I'm going to try to lose a little more, or at least stay at this weight for a couple of years and see how much shrinkage happens. After that, if I'm still not happy I may reconsider my position on cosmetic surgery.
I'm just not too sure I want to be a 75 year old granny with 25 year old boobs! I just don't think they'd match the rest of me very well.
