Weight-Loss Countdown to New Year!

Weight-Loss
About2loseit. Just saw your reply. I go to meeting in the morning. Don't think it is looking to good. We had a dinner party here on Sat and had too much to eat.

I'm following my own plan kind of. I do try to track pts but I like more of the core foods. I guess maybe this new Momentum plan may be up my ally. Only problem is, I haven't found a combo of food yet that keep me full for 20 pts a day.

Which plan do you follow? I'll be back tomorrow with a weight update.

I follow the points just because I don't trust myself not to eat too much. Even healthy filling food has calories and it can add up. I'm terrible with portion control. I do think the Momentum plan will have positive benefits. It won't be hard for me to incorporate because I have been doing most of it anyway. I've learned to eat filling foods to keep from being hungry because when I don't eat that way I have way more hunger than points. I'm using the etools and that helps keep me on track with journaling. I really like the idea of "rollover activity points." That is supposed to be discussed in week two but our leader mentioned it last night.

Why only 20 points? What are your stats? How do you spend your flex points?

I have 28 a day but I'm about to lose one. Lol, that's the only downside to losing weight.

Uhm....are you sure? 21 lbs in 3 weeks?

I agree, San, that's a lot. I know that when you weigh more you lose more than the average loser initially. However, such a large loss in such a short time span is not a good idea for both health and appearance reasons. That's why I don't agree with the "lose it fast" mentality of the show The Biggest Loser. While it's a great show and can be motivating, it's not a good idea to tell people it's okay to lose 6 or 7 pounds per week. It's my understanding that the faster you lose the more sagging skin you'll have left over. Additionally, just as extra weight can put a strain on your heart, losing a large amount of weight in a very short time can potentially have adverse effects on your heart. In any event it is important to reach for attainable goals. Particularly considering the holiday season, it's not a good idea to pick a high goal because you may only be setting yourself up for failure. I've learned that lesson the hard way many times. I'm sure a lot of us have - otherwise there wouldn't be such a concept as "yo-yo dieting."

Yarmiah, ajcarloz, San and thaphantom . . . Welcome to the challenge and good luck this month. :D

Hey, everybody. I had some good today and some bad. I think it all worked out. A good friend took me out to lunch today and I ate a turkey burger with fries. Turkey burger isn't too bad, but the fries are horrendous. That's the bad. the good is I had a killer workout tonight. I jumped rope for an hour and 22 minutes. It's my longest time yet. I'm feeling good about it. Right now I'm not even slightly hungry, but my stomach is grumbling so I should probably put something in it. Funny how your body can be asking for food and et your brain is oblivious. :D

Awesome job, Trops! :hurray:

Fries. :ack2: I cant even think about them any more without getting nauseous. If only I could develop an aversion to chocolate I'd do so much better! We have been getting goodies left and right from doctors, court reporters, etc. The kitchen is a veritable smorgasboard of sugar and salt. I can't have any of it. I brought popcorn of my own so that if I am tempted to dip into the tin of calorie laden popcorn I can at least have a sensible substitute. My problem is the other stuff, though. It has been calling my name. Loudly. Thus far I have resisted. I have a packet of sugar-free hot cocoa mix with me in case I "need" it. Oh I wish everyone would just divide up the treats and take them home with them!

The3 fries were not the run of the mill frozen/reheated kind. Fresh cut deep fried. Oh, they were so good. I guess the jumping counter acted the fries because I'm down this morning even after having a double serving of cereal at bed time.

OK, It's Saturday again, and although I'm not at where I was last Saturday I am 201, so it's close. Now if I can bee good for the Christmas party tonight and then again tomorrow, I'll have a good start for weigh in on Monday.

I want to go running today, but the temp has only warmed up to 30, so it might have to wait till tomorrow. Oh, I'm bad at making excuses, I know. :smash:

I forgot to post this sorry.

Marching into the new year ________ pounds lighter

I know my ticker reads different, that is what I weigh at WW. The number posted is my home scale in my BD suit. LOL Have to fix my ticker yet.

About2lose it - the filling foods and the 0 fat just do not work with me. the filling foods, don't keep me full at all and certainly not at 20 pts. I'm only 5'1 1/2 tall. My job 3 days a week is sitting at a desk, so that takes away from my pts. However I found something interesting this week in a newsletter I get. It caught my eye, because of the statement of being famished after just an hour or so from eating a salad with meat. That's me. It stated that some are protein burners and some are carb burners. WW is structered for carb burners. I'm trying the suggestions for protien burners and it seems to be helping. We will see.

Monday Weigh in:

December 1 - 204.8
December 8 - 204.6
December 15 - 202.0

OK, that is a little more like it. Considering that I've been really slacking as far as working out and had two nights out this weekend, I'll take it.

It seems like Christmas is right upon us, so I have to kick it up a bit this week. :cheers2:

Good job on the downward trend again, Tropsie dear. :cheers2:

Angela, you are doing great! Is this your lowest weight? :cheers2:

Thank you! Yes and no. It is my lowest weight since starting back on WW and being on this forum. However, back when I was with WW the 1st time I had gotten down to 199 . . . then became pregnant . . . you can see where this is going. Lol. Once I hit 198, that will be my lowest in just short of ten years. :smash: And I AM going to get there! (lil self pep-talk)

*voice of Buzz Lightyear* TO ONDERLAND . . . AND BEYOND!

December 1: 168
December 8: 164.5
December 15: 165 :( I have been working out soo much! I am hoping this is just water weight though since I about to get my monthly visitor...sorry tmi.

I definitely do need to cut back on the food though. Increasing the workout is increasing my appetite so much!

I go home for the holidays on saturday so I'm hoping to lose a few more lbs to look good for the fam! A little sad that I weighed less than this last year!

Good luck everyone else! Keep up the great work!

January 1st:

Not losing much at the moment. Zero workout, and eating habits have gone down the drain. I don't binge, on the contrary...when I added up yesterday's calories, I just about hit 800...and that included 2 low cal hot chocolates. I just don't feel like eating at all at the moment. :(

Had breakfast today though, and munching on a salad as I type. I'm determined not to let this ruin everything!!

I have also had lack of an appetite lately and I find that I have points left over at the end of the day (I'm doing WW.) However, (and I'm lecturing myself as much as you here) it is important to get your calories (or points) in. If you have a large deficit of calories every day (and if you only ate 800, I'd say that can be a substantial deficit) Otherwise your body will go into starvation mode and hang onto every thing you do feed it. That's when your weight loss will slow or even stop.

Now, all that being said, I will say this: You ARE losing. Considering the fact we are in the middle of the madness of a holiday season I'd say a loss is great. Even for those that do not celebrate any holidays the colder weather still makes people want to eat more. Most people just hope to maintain during this time of the year but you are actually losing. Be proud of that.

Congrats to everyone else that had a loss this week, regardless if it was a pound or an ounce. A loss is a loss.
