Weight-Loss Countdown to New Year!

Weight-Loss

I didn't see any challenges for December that fit my needs. I don't want to do an exercise challenge at this point because I am still trying to get comfortable in a routine. The other threads I found began months ago. Anyway, I need a place to be accountable. Anyone is welcome to join this challenge. The rules:

1. State a goal - where do you want to be at the end of the year?
2. Choose a reward. If you reach your year-end goal, you should reward yourself for your hard work. It doesn't have to be big and expensive. Keep it small and simple.
3. Post your beginning weight and then keep your number updated at least once per week, regardless of a gain or loss.

I know it is difficult with the holidays coming and parties everywhere you look. However, if you have a loss we want to congratulate you. If you have a gain we probably need to give you a friendly kick in the behind to get you back on track. In any event, please don't go MIA mid-month.

My Goal: 210, which will be a little over 5 lbs.
My Reward: DH will clean the whole house. :D

Marching into the new year ________ pounds lighter

I know my ticker reads different, that is what I weigh at WW. The number posted is my home scale in my BD suit. LOL

I have been posting my home weigh-ins (which are lower) but starting this challenge I posted my WW weigh-in weight (which is probably more accurate.)

Which plan are you following?

I'm new to this site and I think this is a great idea and I'd love to join!

I weighed in yesterday at 240, so that will be my starting weight. My goal is to weigh in under 230 by the end of the month. My reward...I'm going to buy a new pair of running pants for running in the cold winter weather!

Oo I'd like to join in too. I've found that challenges are good for keeping me on track.

My goal is to lose 6lb this month i.e. to march into the New year at 106lb.
My reward... hmm I shall have to think about this a bit more... right now methinks my top contender is a massage! Mmm that would be nice... expensive though *ponders*

Yay me too!! I'm new and this sounds like a great idea!

I'd like to lose 6lbs by christmas!

I'm 168 right now...so 162 :) that would be nice! I haven't seen that number on the scale in a while! It would be nicer to have an even 160! Do you think that 8lbs is too much for 3 weeks?

My present to myself...pretty dress for New years eve :)

Personally I do think that is too much. I'm not saying you can't do it - you may very well hit that goal. However, two things you may want to consider: Losing slowly has more benefits than losing quickly for both health and appearance reasons; and make sure it is a goal that you can achieve. I used to make goals of 10 lbs in one month. Then when I didn't hit that mark I felt like I'd failed. Setting goals too high may only set you up for trouble down the road. Anyway, that is just my opinion. Take it with a grain of salt. I'm certainly no expert on this. If I were I doubt I would need to lose all this weight. lol

Everyone has listed some pretty neat rewards. Welcome to you all and good luck this month!

:D

Thanks about2loseit for your advice. I will stick with the 6lbs since I am just starting out and don't want to get too discouraged! I will definitely have to work hard enough for that!

OK, I'm in this month. Thanks Angela.

December 1: 204.8

The goal? Under 195 by New Years! I'm off to a good start already. Weigh ins on Mondays.

I've been around, just not here. I was 204.8 Monday and today I'm 201.2. Full steam ahead! :auto:

:santa: Wow, this thread is pretty cold. Let's heat it up this week. :reddevil:

I was a bad Trops this weekend. I had a couple things on Saturday and ended up eating like a pig. :piggy: I was 200.4 Saturday morning, so I know it's just temporary.

December 1 - 204.8
December 8 - 204.6

Wow, that sucks. I hope that everyone else is doing better. :waving:

*kicks Trops in the arse* Just in case you needed it. :D

I can't list my "official" weigh in until tonight because I weigh in at my Monday meetings. My scale at home is generally a 2-lb difference from the one at WW. I showed 213.2 on my home scale, which is down about two points since last week. I don't know what I will show at WW but it should be down since my home scale was.

Can't wait to see how everyone else is doing!

I'm feeling a low motivation these last couple days. I'm not hitting the gym or really watching what I eat. Bad, I know. The things that usually bounce me back aren't working and I think it's mostly about the weather. When the temps get into the teens it's hard to get motivated to do anything. I'll snap out of it, but what will cause the snap, I have yet to figure out.

I know what you mean. The only time I have for the gym is at 6 a.m. when it opens. No other time works because of kids, work, school. Despite my good intentions it is hard to drag myself out of bed that early, venture out into freezing temperatures and get motivated to do anything worthwhile. It seems I am always cold these days.

I don't even have that excuse. Right now the kids are in school, my wife is working, and I'm procrastinating on here instead of getting all kinds of chores done and getting a workout in. I have four hours before I leave for work. I should be able to, but I just have to kick my ass out of this chair and do it. :smash:
