Good night all....

Hi from Perth Mum

Hi there everyone, sorry am fanatically busy at work and at home at present, so have not been around for a while...big thanks to my Secret Santa, loved the gift. Glad to hear everyone is doing so well...due to health issues I have had to modify what I am doing a little, but still losing weight so it must be all ok...unfortunately I have had fairly major health problems in the past and one of the areas was the bowel, so I have to be very careful of consuming enough fibre in my diet. Also haven't been game to try the tea, as not sure what effect it would have on me! Anyway, it is great when people notice the weight loss isn't it. At work I had noticed people looking at me. One of the ladies was kind enough to ask and make sure I was not sick again - she was so relieved to hear I was losing weight on purpose! Apparently they had all been very worried about me!!! So I think my loss will be maybe a bit slower than everyone else...I did about 9 kgs for the first month and have at long last got over weighing myself every day. I am now wearing all my clothes held up with a safety pin. I had to laugh at the earlier message about the pants coming down in public...that happened to me on Monday at work...I had thought I was maybe getting the last wear out of a pair of nice work pants as when I put them on in the morning I didnt need to undo the zip or the button...the drama unfolded when I got up suddenly from my desk at work in front of a contract consultant (who I didnt know from Adam!) and basically left my pants in the chair!!! I recovered quickly I hope and hauled them up, my PA found a safety pin rapidly and I lived to survive another day in the office, but I have now learned and I am wearing a pin in my skirt or pants every day now!!! Keep up the good work everyone. And Nat, I agree, portion control is one of the main reasons I think I put on weight...for some reason i had decided I needed great big truckie meals, or was eating for a whole family or something...also I used to need a sugar pick me up late afternoon or I would almost literally crash...now I dont have sugar and yet am working harder and longer hours - very strange.
Sorry, have just realised I have fair rambled on here - hope I'm forgiven!!!
Sue in Perth:)

Hi Everyone,
Welcome NSANENFAT:)
Its great that have joined the forum and I am sure you will find the support you need. It must be great to have watched your mum sucessfuly complete the program. I must admit, I didn't actually know anyone who had done the Cohen's program before I started so it was a huge gamble. It was meant to be though - A girl I see now and then was doing Sureslim and losing weight and I had actually contemplated starting that program - the only reason I didn't was the parking (sounds weird I know) Their clinic is located on one of the worst streets in Geelong and I couldn't get stopping anywhere the clinic the few times I tried. When I phoned with a query, they sent me back an email addressed to Sharon.my name is Michelle so I wasn't impressed to start with. Cohens in Geelong has good parking and they were really friendly when I went in. Hell of a gamble on minor things like I've mentioned, but I am so glad it turned out the way it has.

Nat - 44kg? That is so gross, but I do believe it. I watched a TV show a few months ago about aussies having the perceptions that people in the U.S were a lot fatter than us, when in reality we are very very close behind them. I get a shock when I see kids in my childrens classes at school. Some of these kids are so big they struggle to walk from the school bus into the school. My daughter can rattle off the weights of most girls in her class (lots of controvesy about this in the papers lately "school room weigh ins") and the effect it has to be having with self esteem. I was lucky enough to be very thin at high school, but did see some of the larger kids struggle with teasing etc.

LISAB - Aren't you up all night peeing? If I drink my water late I spend most of the night up and down to the loo.:(

I have been naughty. I ate a whole crunchie. not a snack size one - a big one. late at night too.
Horrendous headache next day. I figure that was karma.

PERTHMUM - LOL..the guy might have thought you were giving him a sign! If you get a string of people asking for you specifically you know he took it as one!

Has anyone thrown out their 'fat' clothes yet? I know we have had to buuy some new things, but I haven't actually thrown anything out yet. Not sure why. Maybe an unconcious thought of maybe needing them again? then again I am a bit of hoarder so who knows.

MONI - congratulations on the weight loss coments. Its a great feeling - enjoy it. There will be lots more to come :)

RAJAH - I have been having soup everyday. I ran out of curry powder tonight - the soup isnt nearly as nice without it. The whole family have been eating it as well which makes meal times so much easier.

Keep up the great work ladies

Myshy

Hi everyone
bad start to this morning... well actually it was good - first i got a haircut which was nice! then downhill from there - i went to the supermarket to restock on groceries, and chocies were on special at coles and i bought some and then went home and ate them :( now i feel sick. i can't stop myself from buying them. before that, the scales this morning did go down again finally - 83.4 (from 83.7 the other day) . i bet that's gone up again, for sure. as soon as i swallowed last bite of choc, cohens rang me to see how i'm doing. my last recorded weight they have is 78 and i couldn't bring myself to say i'd put on more since i'd spoke to the last girl. they said i could keep going till feb and i'll have another blood test and order my refeed. but i need to get to 70 till i do that!!!! augggh!!! oh and yes, i saw the today tonight story - i actually typed it! (that's where i work) channel7 always has so many weight stories! on the news and TT. and you know what? there isn't really any fat people here either.
anyway, no more choc for me. and keeping up the water. and about peeing all night... i used to when i ate the soup. i think it's the curry powder or chilli powder i used to put it it, but i'd make the soup with about 1/2 litre of water. then i would be peeing all night. but when i dont have the soup, i can drink heaps of water and not pee all night! i go to bed later too, like 12.30 or something because i'm at work till pretty late
hope everyone's doing better than me today

Hi Everyone and welcome Chelle

Lisab- I have a suggestion that may help your shopping troubles. I too am compulsive when I am shopping. Firstly- dont even look at the price of chocolate- it will go on special again when you are off the diet. Secondly- avoid the shops. If you have someone who can shop for you then make the most that or do what i do- internet shopping. By the looks of things you are in Melbourne so internet shopping is available to you. Its very easy to avoid the no-no's when they're not in your face. In fact you can avoid those aisles completely! I find I am much stronger shopping this way. And dont worry about the fresh produce- they always give excellent fresh and ripe food- usually better than what's on the shelves. You need to be a little organised to order a day or two before you want delivery, but you can put your shopping together ANY time you want. Might be worth giving it a go? It helps me a LOT!!!

Nat :)

STARTING DATE : 3 OCTOBER 2005 - 90.3kgs
DAY: 108 - 20 JANUARY, 2006 – 60.95kgs

Hi all of you absolute winners,
It was great to read all the thread from the 14 up to now, so I have typed this part in last after reading everything. I would like to say to anyone having trouble in the supermarket that next time you go in make a point of walking up to those chocolates and really have a good look at them, pick up your favourite ones and turn the pretty picture over from the front of the pack and now have a good look at the nutrition value they stamp on it. While your looking at the calorie content per serve and make sure you note that bit because it isn’t for the whole block it is just for a few pieces, that will be about our whole calorie intake for the complete Cohen’s diet day. Now think, if you were to eat that serving your body is going to absorb it like a sponge right onto your BUM, HIPS OR THIGHS. Go on, put it back, it’s not that you can never have it again, just for now and then when you have reached your goal it will be your reward to then have a bit without feeling guilty. The guilt feeling just isn’t worth it, give yourselves a chance, try it, it works. Be strong and persistent the feeling you will get will be a big enough reward for now. I always have a biscuit tin full of lovely things sitting right in front of the TV for the family and have never once opened it because I know when I weight myself the following day I want to see a result of what I have done and not what a piece of stupid chocolate has done. BE STRONG……Sorry if I’ve been harsh but I really want you to think about it before you pop it into your mouth…..

CHEZ & DANPOLL: Where are you, I know your out there, so how about dropping all of us a line.

KASEYSMUM: We haven’t heard from you since September, are you o.k.?

RJM & IMR: Hope you can hop on again one day so we can see how you are both going now. Haven’t heard from you both for ages.

HEALTHYMUM: How are you going and are you back on the wagon. Just remember your personal goals:
1 - 90kgs by 31/1/06 (not long to go now, are you on track)
2 - 85kgs by 20/2/06
3 - 80kgs by 13/3/06
Just remember if you stick to it, it will be over sooner rather than later. Don’t even think about eating any other foods than what we are allowed, sort of think of it as a petrol in a car, once it’s full it spills out except with our body, once it full our tank keeps expanding. You can do it and I hope you have been going well as I haven’t had time to get on the forum much. Keep up the great work.

PDF: That is an absolutely excellent weight loss 4.95 kgs in 2 weeks, it is just dropping off, congratulations. Don’t worry what the consultant said to you. I love your goal setting, that’s a great idea, and it also gives you plenty of time to save up for that special occasion. I mean, even if you were to put only $1.50 away a day and it took 6 weeks to loose 10 kgs then you would have $63.00 to spend on yourself, great thinking on your behalf.

LINDA717: Sounds like you are going great 6 lbs in 6 days is wonderful. That’s 2.7 kgs to all us Aussies. How are you finding it and have you settled into the plan, it isn’t hard once you get use to it and then once that part is done we then begin to try and get a little creative with the foods to make them a little more interesting.

LISAB: Hope your right back on track and doing well again, it is best just to put the past behind you and stick to it and just get it over and done with. YOU CAN DO IT…..

MYSHY: You really make me laugh, first of all the supermarket and now a bunch of cuties in a car giving you the eye, your self esteem must be going through the roof. I bet you are still smiling over it, that’s just great…..I also picked up my re-feed and for the exact same reason I am not going to start it until I hit 59kgs. It looks like you eat so much, I mean I am totally comfortable with my portion size now. The consultant told me if you can’t finish it then don’t but isn’t that defeating the purpose of the re-feed and the completion of the program?

PEACHES: I read your post from the 14 feb, so I am a little late but I hope the hunger has stopped now. It won’t last too long because your body will adjust to the food. Just make sure you have the fruit and crispbreads for that specified 10 day period and try to choose your meals that add up to the most grams. So for example in meal plan 1 you may have 100g chicken and 110g vegies or 120g beef and 115g vegies, so choose the beef on in this case. After the 10 days have gone you won’t even notice the lesser amount. That should help and it will also help with anyone regardless of how long you have been on it, just try it for a couple of days, it works a treat.

DEVINEMISSNAT: It is good that you have worked out how you feel and I am sure that is going to help you in the future, once you have it under control it will be just like second nature and you won’t even think of doing it. Knowing yourself is the very first step. Yes, I totally understand you wanting to get down to 50kgs if you are 5 foot tall. You can do it that’s for sure, you look great in your picture at any rate. Where you 50kgs in that photo?

CASEY: I can’t believe how sick you got, that’s amazing, how are you now? You are just going to be looking stunning in your bridesmaids dress. Don’t forget to send us the pictures. You’ll have to take one now and then one in June and pop them side by side…..Glad to hear your back on track.

SOS: Love your name, it’s great. I know how you feel about travelling and eating I have the next month coming up just full of travel and am a little scared. I may possibly even contemplate doing what you did even though I know it is wrong but when you are eating at other peoples places and if they are dishing up crap, you can’t say, Oh, I just want salad after they have gone to all the preparation. I know it isn’t a good thing to do but I can understand just as long as we don’t make a habit of it.

MEL: When I saw your name on the thread I just scrolled right down to the ticker, you are a champion, great work…. You’ll be in the 2 figure mark before you know it if you aren’t already there. If not I’m tipping by Thursday 26 feb. YEAHHHHHH…

RAJAH: How are you going now and have you been able to resist that French stick again, hope you can because bread is the absolute worst. Don’t worry about it though, next just smell it, you’ll be right and the more you resist things the easier it becomes and then you won’t even think of having it. Rajah, 4kgs in 10 days, LETS ALL HEAR IT FOR RAJAH, Pat yourself on the back, you deserve it, good on you, that’s great….

CRYSS: Hi and hope you are well. My god, don’t even look at your weight loss that way, I nearly had a heart attach myself when I read what you said. There are much bigger people out there some up to 250 & 300 kgs, your weight is nothing compared to that. Please just take 10 kgs at a time it is just so much easier that way and before you know it you will be on your last 10kgs to shift.

MONI: Yes, the weight loss does slow down but just watch what happens. You will usually loose between 150 & 250 g per day for about 3 to 5 days and then WAM, 700 g or more the next day and then it slows down. So what’s happening is our bodies are getting very use to it and has used all the excess fat as energy so it begins to store a little, even though were not eating fat it is still storing, so it does that for a few days and then it just can’t cope any more and pull out extra energy after a couple of days and there is our bonus for sticking to it even though we may have felt like throwing in the towel. (I know you didn’t say you were thinking of doing that but just in case someone out there was, hope that helps a little).

MISSYS MUM: Great to hear from you. Wow that fluid retention is a problem and believe it or not that slimmers tea will really assist with it as it cleans out your entire system of not just the food but excess fluid as well. Great to hear you are back on track. How about a ticker, if you need help in setting it up let me know and I’ll send you the details. Hope you found your puppa’s and it didn’t cost too much to get them back.

LISAB: Good on you for being so strong, you are doing it and I can see you are going to stick to it. Keep it up what ever you do and then once it’s off you can indulge sometimes without even giving it a though….65kgs here you come….You will look in the mirror and see a different person, but remember you didn’t pop the weight on over night and it isn’t going to come off over night either. Just stick to it and that reflection you see will change within month, promise…

NSANENFAT: WELCOME, we are all going to help you, that’s for sure. Have you stuck to it since Saturday, wow that’s nearly a week already if you have and by now you will have lost at least 2kgs. Make sure you stick with as we can all give you little tips and tricks that has helped all of us. How much do you want to get down to?

HEALTHYMUM: Great to hear from you again. How much have you lost all together now. You must have lost a bit if you can pull your jeans down without undoing the zip, great feeling isn’t it.

Now I can say my "SEE YOU LATER NOTE" my top thread exceed 10,000 letters so didn't have enough room for it.
Well ladies, you all take good care of yourselves and I will try to read the treads a little more frequently so I don't have such a long posting.
Speak to you all soon, Best wishes, JOY

Fatties gone skinnies inn!!!!!!

Myshy:

I threw al my fat clothes out:p , I nearly cried as I had a lot of expensive items<< I gave some to my cousin who was pregnant and some to my mum( who now has adopted my eating habits and has lost alot of weight.)

The rest I put on Ebay and got quite reasonable money': I figure it was better than sending them to vinnies as it nearly paid for my cohens program which worked out really well, the moneys better in my pocket.

I went from a size 22:eek: to now I'm between a 14-16:p , although at my heaviest I didn't look that out of place as I'm 6Ft; . Everyone comments on how much weight I've lost, when I say I've lost 40kg:eek: ; everyone so far says I didn't think you were that big or no way you be joking:cool: ; (No joke mate!!! I know )

I can say I never want to go back there but Its going to be hard work to say at this weight as I love my food. I lived on coke and I can honestly say I don't miss it, I now have a new favourite Coke Zero yummy!!!!

My big turning point to loose this weight was I very sick all the time and my weight would fuculate, sometimes I mights loose 2-3 stone in a month then I'd put it back on when I felt better. ( I have lopus Disease and IBS not a good combination:eek: )

Touch wood I may have cured myself as I have not been sick for so long I have heaps of energy, I don't get tried anymore, My joints feel great, my kidney are functioning great, and my bowels are the best they have been forever(unless i go off plan and eat something I shouldn't):)

Anyhow thats my two cents worths for the day.

It's the start of the country music festival here today, bring on the cowboys:cool: ( just looking).

Anyhow see you all later!!!! running late today, now going to bath my kids, they wanted to watch ABC KIDS first, which I thought would be fine as I haven't looked on here in a while.

Bye for now.:p

Cohens Police!!!

Hello to everyone!!! Just a quick post nearly there 40kgs glad to see you are kicking butt but i dont think coke zero is allowed it isnt caffeine free but i may be wrong just bringing it up cos i had it for a few days and had headaches anyway if anyone else knows can they correct me if im wrong.
Queen Joysey you are the best!!! Have a great trip away and will catch up with you when you get back and the rest of the Melbourne girls. Hey Pippa how are you going? I havent posted for a while cos ive been so disappointed in myself bingeing on bad stuff and then making myself sick later bad bad bad habit and i think admitting this is going to help me overcome this problem, yesterday was the first day in 4 weeks i didnt do it and today ive managed to stay on plan 100% so am just staying postive and focused and away from all the stuff on special at the supermarket that says BUY ME BUY ME when i walk past it. Hey Mysh, how are you going? Have you started the refeed yet or waiting a bit? This program is so good if you stick to it and so worth it when you reach the end but one component missing is the support,of why we put what we do in our mouth to begin with wouldnt it be a real winner if they had on board counsellors that could support and help us deal with our emotional eating, i guess it would be a more expensive program then, anyway ive made this into a long post now just wanted to say Hi and that im hangin in there and hope you are to. Have a great day everyone I just love Myshys soup it is such a hungerbuster. Take care Chez:cool:

Turbulence

Quick post to say hi to everyone. I need to vent that I have had a very trying day.
It all started at 3.20am when I woke to thunder and lightning, which I personally dont mind but my little dog does. She becomes very unsettled, keeps trying to stand on me, pants in my face, walks down the end of the bed, whimpers a bit, comes back, stands on me, breathes on me... you get the idea. Normally I can tolerate this, but the night was very warm (25C) and I knew my alarm was going to go off at 4am because I had to be at the airport just after 6am to fly to the Gold Coast for an all day meeting.
After a flight of mild turbulence I arrived in GC to bucketing rain and humidity- who said QLD was beautiful one day perfect the next???:p
Now, I did the right thing and ate some yoghurt before leaving, but from here on the day takes a landslide.
Struggling on my 3hours sleep and bored waiting at the airport for my ride I didnt have the strength to resist a latte. :(
Our meeting was turbulent too, with problems regarding our new contracts, which look to me like a hefty pay cut. In fact they are. I will probably spend the weekend on seek.com
When we were finally told it was lunch time it was 1pm QLD time (2pm VIC time) which means apart from the coffee I hadnt eaten anything in 9hrs and all they had to offer were SANDWICHES!!! I was so hungry... on most I pulled off half the bread and made like an open sandwich, but still... I spent the afternoon with awful reflux and bloating- most uncomfortable.:(
A colleague and I were dropped off at the airport with 2 and a half hours to spare and seeing as the we had only picked at a couple of sandwich fingers I then had an all day brekky (and ate the things I shouldnt have) and another coffee.
The flight back was much more turbulent- the kind that makes your stomach really drop and my work day has finally ended at 10.30pm.
Now please excuse me while i collapse in a heap (or raid the liquor cabinet- I dont know which is the greater need right now)
Nat

Just thought I'd show you all the critter who wont let me sleep through thunderstorms... but how can I stay mad at that face??? (hoping this works...)

And speaking of faces- Joysey- no the photo is not of me at 50kg. I havent been in my goal weight range since I was 12 or 13. That photo is recent and lucky for me I dont carry any of my extra weight on my forehead so you cant tell :p

Nx

Oh Nat you have a maltese!! yes they end up VERY spoilt!! I had my girl for 14 years until a year ago :(

Well I am still up and down!! I put on because I fall off the wagon and then I behave for a couple of days and guess what? I fall off again!! I am getting so mad at my self! I WILL get there though!!

You are all doing so well :D :)
Carolyn

Cheeky Bugger!!!!!

Nat

I too have a maltese terrier, she is nearly 12 moths old She too is very spoilt. She is my shadow, but she hates my kids and husband, won't tolerate them at all barks at them and nips them if try to fondle her too much. But with me as soon as I sit down she on my lap and goes straight to sleep. Storms are a worry, but lucky or unlucky we don't have much rain here as I'm in Tamworth....

 Now for the Coke Zero, I know it's not caffine free but seeing as I only drink water or Diet Coke Caffine free, or Pepsi Max caffine free( which I find isn't much different from water), I don't drink tea or coffee never have never will....I don't see having Coke Zero as a big drama:mad: ..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am though becoming a little concerned with calcium intake, are we getting enough?????I have yogurt every morning only because I couldn't stomach vegetables or salad for breakie and I detest eggs yukkkkk yukkkkk!!!!!!

Anyone have any thoughts on this??

See ya all later!!!!!!!!!!

Good morning all shrinking people

Hi everyone,

It's good to see everyone touching base. It's not an easy journey but we are here to support each other and as long as we keep going forward and put the bad days behind us, we all get this through together. :D

Nearlythere40kg: CONGRATULATIONS ON ACHIEVING YOUR 40KG WEIGHTLOSS!!!! :D You are now a success story and you may need a new nickname! ;) So good to hear that your health has improved so much with the weightloss, you must feel like a new woman. Enjoy the music festival and have fun.

Kaseysmum: Good to see you back and on track. Don't be disappointed if you stray sometimes. Keep coming on to the boards as this is where I am finding the support to be motivated. It's fantastic and you have been a part of this. You are nearly half way to your goal and have achieved this on your own. That is something to be very proud of and we are all very proud of you. :D

Divinemissnat: What are a horrible day you had yesterday. I hope your weekend is much nicer and you are able to relax after yesterday. By the way, your dog is so cute....:)

Danpoll: [COLOR="Black" [COLOR="Black"]Good to see you climbing back on the wagon. I think we could have a very long wagon with lots of compartments to share together. There is lots of room for everyone to come aboard and travel together. :D

Everyone have a good weekend and lets keep shrinking!!!

Hi everyone. Sounds like you are all settling into the new year and getting back into the swing of things.

Adelaide is going through a heatwave at the moment - this is our third consecutive day in the 40s and it is HOT! But this is the first heatwave in 11 years where I have been comfortable going out in public in tanktops and I am loving it!

Joysey, I'm going really well. I have managed to maintain my weight at 59kg which is fantastic. I'm very conscious as to what I eat and I generally stay away from carbs, particularly on weekends because I usually enjoy a few glasses of champas or wine. I think that's actually the key to it. If you minimise your carb intake, the weight will stay put, despite what other foods you eat (in moderation of course). But having said that, I also do a lot of exercise now too. I go to Curves 2 - 3 times a week and I try to get out for a 3km walk on the other nights (although this week's been a bit of write off because of the weather). Even though my goal weight was 51-54kg, I'm feeling really comfortable at 59kg. I think I may still be losing centimetres though because a lot of my new clothes are lose now! Bit of bummer, but a great feeling in any event. I'll just have to take them in to be altered a little. The only thing is I have a bit of loose skin around my stomach but hopefully that will shrink in time.

Not long to go until both you and Myshy start your refeeds. Don't worry about the size of the portions - just eat what you feel comfortable with. I didn't eat half the foods I was to supposed to reintroduce and I only increased my portions by about 30gm for veggies and meat per meal and it didn't have any adverse affects with life after the program.

Myshy, it's funny with the old clothes. I didn't clean out my wardrobe completely until I had been off the diet for about a month. I filled up 3 garbage bags full of FAT clothes and it felt great! You'll know when you're ready to do it.

Keep up the great work everyone and keep on striving for those mini goals.

Lisa :)

Lemonade Ice Blocks

Helloo!

I thought of a neat idea for a snack this morning. We could make Lemonade Ice Blocks using our ZERO SPRITE. You can get those ice block molds from Woolworths or cheapo shops for a few dollars, measure out some Zero Sprite or Caffeine Free Coke and fill them up! Nice treat when the weather is hot!

I've been on the net most of the morning hunting around for some good deals for our HoneyMoon. So far, we've decided that we're going to go to the Cook Islands (yay!), just checking out all the resorts at the momento... they all seem sooooo beautiful! - I'm lookin forward to wearing swimmers or even a bikinni - those words sound too good to be true!!

I weighed in at 102.1kg this morning, SLOWLY getting closer to those double digits.

I bought myself some new scales on E-Bay during the week (check out the pic attached). BLOODY BARGIN FOR $56 !!! (Retail for $220+) They've got some pretty neat functions as well..

*High precision strain gauge for Weight
*BIA technology to measure Body Fat and Water %
*Daily Calorie / ideal weight indication advisor
*Extended display window for wider viewing angle
*Easy tapping operation

Can't wait till they arrive......Im curious what my body fat and water % content are.... how on earth do these scales measure this??

THAT IS A FANTASTIC IDEA MEL......I'LL BE DOING THAT EVEN FOR THE KIDS....

GREAT WORK EVERYONE ON YOUR LOSSES IT'S HARD WORK I KNOW BUT WE HAVE TO STAY WITH IT........

The friend was getting her backyard landscaped because thats were she was having the wedding. - So, hopefully we'll hear from Cryss soon.....
