Louise, i would ring your consultant and go RRRAAAARRRHHH!!! at her. if it is something you wish to keep to yourself, then it's your choice. however before you go RRRAAAARRRHHH!!! i would check that you gave other contact numbers for her to get you on, and that she understands your request for privacy!!!
Jools, Welcome onboard... I too have a wedding, however it's my own and it's in May!
Mermaid sister, glad to hear you went to your weigh in, and that you're feeling a bit better.
Living it you crack me up, my other half would do something similar! just think in less time and pain you'll be a hottie, and he'll still be slaving away...... He he he!

Thanks Briziel and Coco brandy - I emailed her explaining my annoyance. I am about to call the centre manager but am waiting to calm down so I don't sound like a raving lunatic.

WOW!!! So many posts! So little time! I was supposed to weigh and measure today - it's my four week mark - BUT it just didn't happen! I will have to do it for sure tomorrow - otherwise my numbers might be askew next month.

Can I just say how excited I am about Cohen's. I have been on the program for a whole month - a whole month of life happening (and believe me with 13 kids a lot of life can happen in a month!) and I was able to keep to my program the whole time and it wasn't even hard!!!!! I have been on other programs that consumed HOURS of my day and the first time "LIFE" hiccupped it became nearly impossible to maintain them - but not this one!! It has been soooo great!! I just absolutely know that I will reach my goal. Life may still try to trip me up but Cohen's is so much more managable than any previous program I know that I can handle life's attempts to thwart!!

Had to tighten my shoes ! Another small step in the right direction!

gal, 11kg is juz the starting... soon u be seeing urself melting away~~ :D
i'm so happy... i went to dp juz to try out clothes yesterday (trying to figure wat size i was at) and realized i 'm going towards a size 12  14 was a bit loose off mi and 12 was a bit tight... wow~ and for years... this is the 1st time i managed to squeeze into a waist 32 jeans....the feeling is great... and soon gal... u would be joining mi~ :D

I was at a loss too when I know that I can't straightaway proceed with the actual cohen's diet. I kept blaming myself for having such a weak liver... :( Perhaps I drank too much in the past.

But Peter, who is my consultant, tried his best to help me with it. He is kind enough to put me thru interim.

And also, my peer support is strong...I received alot of encouragement from them. I feel good when they say "u look obviously slimmer~", "U dun have double chin already~" etc...

And whenever i need advises, my friend Jayce (who is also in cohen's) will answer all my ??? marks in my head... Thanks sweetie.

I was amazed that I managed to lose 11kg in a month. I am very happy but its only the starting...I still got about 50kg to go~ But I can see the path of light towards me and I wish to be slim and healthy!

I am very proud by you ladies out there. And those comforting words to one another...

Hopefully my liver is strong enough for me to go on the actual program. I still got 1 month to go before my consultant determines where I can go on with it anot..

*cross finger* im praying hard

IN the mean time, love ya ladies

I have mentioned before that, if I had known how stable the weight would have been, I would have not started refeed until I was at 58 kilos. I started at 60 kilos, and for the past four months have been bumping around 60 kilos but 'politically' I would have liked to be under 60 kilos rather than hovering at 60 kilos. Only a mark on the dial, but a mark that is important to me.

... after a really indulgent carbohydrate and cream weekend, I am 500 grams up today (Monday). Really, nothing tastes as good as being slim feels, and while I don't regret the cakes and really enjoyed them, quite frankly my memory of looking good (on Friday) is a much happier memory than the taste of the cakes.

Just an update regarding weight stability 'after' Cohen's ...

Today is Tuesday and the scales were back to 60 kilos today, my body has forgiven me the cream cakes from the weekend.

I would encourage you all to believe that all the effort of losing the weight will not be in vain - the refeed is probably the most critical part of the program, and in the months and years following, the occasional indulgence will be tolerated by the conditioned body.

It seems that, after reading the reports (posts) of finishing the program, then going back on again in an unsupervised manner that the delicate balance is then disturbed and the body simply reacts in a random manner and the weight starts to go back on again.

If you are tempted to stop short of your medically ideal weight, make sure that you don't just decide to start again without a new program. Your body will have changed in the interim, and your 'old' program may not be relevant for your 'new' body.

It would be as damaging as if you decided to do a friend's program - so although it may mean another program fee, surely the fee is nothing compared to perhaps undoing all your previous good work and possibly even making yourself ill in the process.

Anyway, I am one Happy Vegemite today. In fact, the weight is so stable it's almost an anti-climax - I keep expecting the weight to increase and it simply doesn't!!

Cheers

Excellent advice Chelsea, it's good to know there IS life after Coehn's and while it's not all ice creams and choclate bars, it IS manageable.

I have been buying chocolates and keeping them in the fridge - sometimes smelling them, sometimes looking at them and then putting them back - how weird is that? Since I have started on Coehn's cadbury has launched three new products: raspberry twirl, mint flake and small boxes of Eden chocolates. Funny that I am not planning on EATINg these treats, just 'playing' with them.

Hi everyone!

Thanks for the welcomes!

Second day and all is going well, except for the headache if have tonight.

I am finding that it is plenty of food (just different food!)

But I have to ask - the natural yogurt - OMG!!! I even had my mango with it and I just could not eat it - I was actually going to be sick, so I just picked the fruit out of it. So crossing that one off my list! How do you all find the yogurt thing? are there ones that are better than others? and I just happened to buy the crappy one? Any hints would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers
Janine

Congrats Herm!

Well done on your 2nd day. I hated the yoghurt when I first started. Nothing seemed to take the taste away. But now I quite like it. I have it with peppermint tea. Its great when I'm in a rush. Its great your finding there's heaps of food. When I started I was shocked at the small meals. All the best for your weight loss.

I'm looking forward to the end, but the journey has been a great rewarding one. Today I saw some people I haven't seen in ages. His wife walked straight past me - didn't reconize me, then I had to say his name twice for him to see who it was! It's times like this that highlight your day - Oh what a feeling!! I'm now wearing size 14 jeans and 16 top. I used to be size 24-26 top and 22-24 pants. I still can't believe it! Just think about these momments before you reach for that choc cake!! heheheh!!!

Have a great week:)

Mitmary:p

Good evening everyone,
Thanks for the advice, support and even web page regarding my query into emotional eating. I believe it is something the majority of us share. Can't wait til we're all sharing our size 8 jeans instead! Thank you again. You people are my saviour!

Well done to those of you lucky enough to be moving that ticker. Keep on going!

I had a call from my clinic and it seems that they did not receive my first month blood test. The pathology lab has no record of doing it. Incompetence and blame really makes my blood boil. I can even tell you the exact time I had it done and who was in the waiting room! So now I have to have another test immediately to ensure everything is on track. Dr. Cohen doesn't like a missed blood test. Why is this soooooooo important? Anyway, that's a bummer. I hope it doesn't affect the weight loss too badly.

Righto - off to bed now. I am so tired these days. Time to put that HGH to work!

Nightie Night All. Sleep well...another day closer to our goals.
Lots of love.

Congratulations Herm on getting through day 2. I have just about finished day 3 and I had a dreadful headache yesterday and very "foggy" headed, but today I am fine. Try to drink as much water as you can during the early days as this helps to flush all the crap out of your system faster. I don't eat the yoghurt at all. I have the egg option for my breakfast. I hard boil it and chop it on top of 2 of my crackers with sliced tomato, cucumber and lettuce on top. Very Yummy.
Mitmary, you are doing so amazingly well. Nearly 50kg in 5 months!!! Incredible.
Momma Pajama, was that a typo????? 13 KIDS!! What an amazing woman you must be.
8-2much!, I think the reason that he is so fussy about the blood tests is because it affects your refeed. Don't you hate it when people muck things up.
Have a great night all. I can't wait till morning so I can see if the scales have moved again.

HERM: I tried the yoghurt for the first time this week. I do love yoghurt but imagined it would not fill me up, but to my surprise I had it on its own and it was four hours later before I noticed I wanted fruit or crispbread. It really satisfies !!! The brand I had was Vallia low fat Natural flavour. Got it at woolworths. Be careful not to get the vanilla flavoured one as this is not on our list, also the low fat and full fat containers look a like so take care to get the correct one. It is creamy and delicious and I needed a break from the egg for breakfast. I do not want to use my fruit allowance at breakfast so I was thinking maybe some roasted tomato on a cracker after the yoghurt would be good. I checked with the consultant and guess what NOT ALLOWED. Given you can have fruit this does not make sense to me, another addition for my ' doesnt make sense list.'
Good night all :)

Yoghurts aint Yoghurts

herm - I have just completed 8 months on Cohen's and sucessfully achieved my goal weight :D . Today was my first day 'out on my own' and guess what? I had yoghurt (and yes, it was natural yoghurt  ) and fruit for breakfast! There are lots of natural yoghurts out there and I have tried just about all of them. The best one I found is low fat Vaalia Natural Yoghurt. It has great texture - really smooth and creamy, and I wouldn't say it is 'sweet', but it doesn't make you pull that face (you know the one I mean...like your trying to impersonate cat's bottom!) when you eat it. Pauls natural yoghurt was the next best one, but Vaalia wins hands down. If you continue to struggle with it, but don't want to cross yoghurt off your list, try these ideas:
  1. Blend your yoghurt allowance, your mango allowance, 1/2 cup Sprite Zero and a few ice cubes together in a blender. Spinkle some nutmeg on top and drink through a straw.
  2. Dissolve 1-2 teaspoons (depending on taste) of instant de-caff coffee with sweetener (if you desire) and mix this with your yoghurt.
  3. Thinly slice a Granny Smith apple and place in a small saucepan. Cover with Sprite Zero and add a couple of cloves and a cinnamon stick. Simmer over a low heat until apple is slightly softened. Cool in the fridge (I usually do this the night before). Remove cloves and cinnamon stick. In a tall glass (or sundae glass if you hae one), alternate layers of apple and yoghurt, finishing with a few slices of apple for decoration. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Eat slowly with along handled teaspoon. This is just like having a sundae :D !
  4. Juice 1/2 a navel orange (make sure it is a nice one!) and mix the juice, yoghurt, the orange pulp (if you want), sweetener if you so desire and a little cinnamon together. (Can you tell I love cinnamon yet? And it is soooooo fantastic on yoghurt!) Add 1/2 mandarin and enjoy!
Hope this advice and these ideas help!

hello hello

i just have to drop a line to Momma Pjamma....
13 children? That is so fantastic!
i wanted to lose weight so i can actually have a baby (amoungst other really imporant matters like health and self-esteem). who knows huh? i may still be able to have my baby if i get to my goal. Guess what everyone.... i am losing weight just to put it all back on with a pregnancy.... no there is an irony for you all to laugh at! i will be back on Cohens again.... hehehe

But getting there... it seems so far away.... 40 something kilos.... you can not escape it.... its almost 50% of my body weight....

Has anyone had any flabby skin after they finish the diet.... or while they are shedding the weight. I am really scared i am going to end up like all those people who need plastic surgery to get rid off excess skin when i finish the diet? is there anything you can take or rub on your skin to help with the elasticity?

Cheers and happy wednesday!

Hi all, I'm new to this site and started Cohens last Sunday 8th Oct. I have 30kg to loose. My first week was a bit hard, had cravings for the sugar stuff, but the last 2 days going pretty well. Lost 2.6kg in first week so was happy with that......don't know if 2nd week it's more common to plateau or not.
still finding it hard to drink all the water though....been forcing it down and still don't think I'm getting to the 2ltr mark yet! anyway will try better tomorrow.
Last week felt like the longest week of my life!!
I started at 92kg 164cm tall to goal weight is 59kg. Hmmm to be honest don't think I've ever been 59kg! Well probably as a teenager. My first goal is to get to 75kg by Xmas and fit into size 14 pants. If I loose a few extra kilos great, but I want to be 75 and under.
It's so strange a month ago I'd never heard of Cohen's, so it was great to find this website and see all your stories!
Ok best get off to bed and hopefully not dream about chocolate!

STARTED COHENS 8 OCT 2006

Hehe.. sure... i muz start to clear out clothes again... some pants and clothes which are getting way too loose~... :D

Heehee, gal, i am very happy for u~nv in my life i touch size 12 clothings before.... and u did it~ actually u are my motivation... U are like a REAL EXAMPLE standing in front of me...

Anyway, carry on ur hard work and when can i go to ur place and pick up ur old clothes again? Heehee....

Hey all! No the 13 wasn't a typo - 9 boys and 4 girls - so far!

I am excited to report that my first goal has been achieved! I am able to weigh on my home scale again! It is weighing me a few pounds higher than the one I was weighing on downtown so it will probably be a week or so before I am back at the weight I was at on the other scale - but that's okay!! I am so excited that I can now monitor myself at home again.

Took some pics today - the difference isn't extreme but I can see some changes starting - can't wait for the next four weeks.

Happy Day to you all!

Ladybird 40kg is definitley achievable...and as for loose/saggy skin. Personally, I think that the presence or absence of it after any weight loss has to do with a couple of things. Firstly, it depends on how fast you loss the weight. Stick to Cohen's and you will loss it fast! Secondly, it depends on your lifestyle and what kinds of pysical activity you do and how often you do it. I do belly dance at least once a week and I am certain that has helped me in the 'skin' area. Thirdly, it depends on where you carry your excess weight. I never had a big belly, but my thighs could have easily been substiture bridge pylones! Some people are completely opposite to this and others seem to distribute their excess weight evenly all over their bodies. Honestly, after losing 55kg in 8 months, I have very little/no baggy skin...and I haven't used products of any kind on it. I am not saying that my skin is perfect...there is definitley some toning to do, but I certainly wont be booking a surgeon! Some people have mentioned products that are good for skin elasticity, but I can't remember them...you might want to do a search of past posts.

Momma Pajama - CONGRATULATIONS!!! on reaching your first goal! That is soooooooo wonderful! And can I just say that it is fantastic and refreshing to 'see' someone who is genuinely excited about being on Cohen's. I love to read your posts and I am reminded of how I felt on the program. Every month was a treat! If I had great loss, than I would be looking forward to the next month to see what I could achieve next. And if my loss for the month wasn't that great (even though any loss is great!) then I would be like "Bring on the next month...I can loss more than this!". I looked forward to my monthly weigh-ins and approached each and every day with a a positive attitude. I see you doing that too and it is wonderful to see. If even a tiny little bit of those vibes rub off onto others on the program, then they will benifit immensely! Keep up the sensational work!

Happy Day To You All!
