Chris Benoit Story

P.S. Why do grown men in the US watch wrestling? It's all an act anyway and once you know that then what's the appeal? WWE in the UK is just something for pre-teen kids
You probably don't watch movies( since it's an act) and if that's true, do you watch shows like Survivor.:D

What ever happened to 'innocent until proven guilty'?

I'll wait till the investigation is completed.
Same here, why talk sh*t when the story may change later and besides, you will make an a$$ of yourself if half the stuff you say ain't true.

then he waited a few hours for his son, then killed him by placing him in a choke hold.

I thought he smothered him not put him in a choke hold.

last i read.. there were no apparent bruises around the neck so they rulled out the the idea that he was strangled and stated that perhaps he was in a choke hold but are going on the process of elimination.. no one knows for sure yet..

I'm thinking it's pretty much irrelevant whether he put him in a hold or smothered him with a pillow or any other such thing.

The exact details may change a bit as the investigations continue, however, I highly doubt that they will all of a sudden discover that, indeed, some one broke into his house, somehow kept him restrained Friday and Saturday as they murdered his family, then staged his suicide the next day. Oh, and they sent txts to his friends, and made sure there was no signs of struggle or evidence of them having been there. Yeah, that's possible, I guess all of us who believe he did it might feel stupid when they discover that.

Let's all be honest with ourselves, no one would be saying any such thing were he not a well liked celebrity.

I think what he did was heinous... however before you judge the man...

1. You guys have no idea what its like to be a professional wrestler... On the road 300 days a year, doing a show every single night, working through injuries, getting paid next to nothing unless you're a top carder (which Benoit wasn't), constant pressure from your promoter to be bigger and stronger (its no secret that Vince McMahon pushes steroids into his performers), dealing with fans who take your character into reality who either love you or hate your guts.... Its a miracle that more wrestlers don't snap.

2. None of the people who posted "OMG hes sooo bad" posts in this thread were there, you guys don't know what really happened, its pretty apparent, but you just don't know... The only people who do were in that house, and they can't speak.

3. Nobody has a right to judge what kind of person Chris Benoit was. He allegedly killed 2 people and himself, thats that... and the rest is between him and God, if you believe in that sort of thing.

im sorry but im gonna have to disagree with you on that one..NO MATTER how much stress youre under it is NO EXCUSE to kill someone..unless its purely self defense..and i doubt his wife or sick child posed any threat to his life..nothing against your beleifs but he's not talkin things over with god right now cuz his ass is burnin in hell (if such a place exists)..and rightfully so

I didn't say it was an excuse, nobody here has a right to judge him, period.

.

That's right Allen, they can't speak - because he murdered them. No, he wasn't caught on video tape, but there is quite a bit of evidence against him, and nothing that indicates it was anyone else. I guess though, that many of his fans will stick to the belief that since no one actually saw him do it, then there can be no proof that he did, and will always believe that maybe it wasn't him.

As far as getting paid next to nothing, it was filed that he made $500,000 when his wife filed for divorce.

You are right in the fact that we can't judge him. Pointing out that what he did was wrong is not the same as judging him. Coming to the only logical conclusion based on all that is known is not judging him. No one knows what happened in his head, or caused him to do such an evil thing. I am not saying that he was a bad person, only that he did something beyond horrible.

What ever happened to 'innocent until proven guilty'?

People in this country are so clueless about "innocent until proven guilty". That is a standard for jurors in a criminal trial. It is not a law of the universe. We are perfectly entitled to make rational conclusions based on the currently known facts.

I guess I should call that Va Tech shooter innocent because he never got his day in court.

This is ludicrous. Allow me to unravel the flaws in your argument.

While I have no idea what its like to be a pro wrestler, I notice that the vast majority of them manage to abstain from committing murder-suicides. In my universe, a stressful job is not license to commit homicides.

2. None of the people who posted "OMG hes sooo bad" posts in this thread were there, you guys don't know what really happened, its pretty apparent, but you just don't know... The only people who do were in that house, and they can't speak.
So what? Does this mean nothing can be ascertained regarding the event? Let me guess - you think the mob did it, just like they killed Marilyn Monroe!

3. Nobody has a right to judge what kind of person Chris Benoit was. He allegedly killed 2 people and himself, thats that... and the rest is between him and God, if you believe in that sort of thing.

We are absolutely entitled to judge people based on their actions. What kind of Romper Room nonsense is this? I am a lawyer, and even I am rolling my eyes at your gratuitous use of "allegedly".

It's pretty safe to say that Benoit would have been making MORE money than most of the locker room. If you make it to WWE, you're getting paid a good amount anyway regardless of your spot on the card.

But of course, it's getting there that's the extremely hard it and alot of people don't realise that they do live very stressful lives (as you pointed out). I'd like to see some punk go up to JBL or one of the steiner brothers and tell them that wrestling is fake. I gaurantee that most of the people that talk down to pro wrestling wouldn't last a week on the road and that's even if they survive the training school!

It's pretty well known by internet wrestling fans that early deaths arn't uncommon in wrestling.

His only possible defence would be insanity, he obviously committed the murders and it now appears that he updated his own entry on Wikipedia after killing his wife to report her death. I think that's a pretty big clue that the guy wasn't of sound mind.
Hopefully that'll help discredit the 'roid rage' theories as it's hard to imagine a crazed, juiced up, blood thirsty guy taking time out to boot up his PC and update a web page inbetween killings.

Lol, that's an awful comparison, I watch films for the stories they tell, quality of acting, and hopefully mental stimulation. So are you trying to compare masterpeices like Mulholland Drive with things like WWE Smackdown?

I think a better anology would be watching a Boxing fight where neither of boxers really hit each other and the outcome was determined weeks in advance. Would you watch that?

I was just messing around. Mulholland Drive, I watched it. Why is that a masterpiece?

Uh, movies have a determined outcome too.:D What's the difference?

I hate it when people say stuff like, you just don't get pro wrestling at all.

No I don't, that's why I asked what the appeal of it is, it was a genuine question. All I heard back were comments like you probably don't like movies either which makes no sense. You could compare it to a play but then the scripts of WWE are awful, the acting is terrible so it's apeal obviously lies elsewhere which is why I asked what it is.

It's a jigsaw puzzle, a dream that reality is threatening to destroy and from which the mind is trying to protect its self from. The story you see isn't the real story, you need to work out what's happening from clues within the dream and the areas where reality starts to break through

Wrestling appeals to some people, and doesn't to others. I'm 50/50 on wrestling. I remember when they had all the good people like The Rock, Triple H, Kane. Kane is my favorite wrestler.

Wrestling appeals to me. I don't stay tune on the storyline though; I just admire what the wrestlers do. There athletiscism is amazing. Theres no other show where you see a 300 pound + dude jumping off latters.

I remember Brock Lesner picking up Mark Henry and spinning him. Holy crap!

Thanks, that's all i was asking :)
