Cate's Diary

Could G and you maybe alternate between having the good bed and the less good one? I bought an Ikea mattress topper for "my" bed at my parents' place (my dad insists only rock hard mattresses are healthy so that's what they all are) and it's really helped but I realize Tasmania probably doesn't have an Ikea. Whatever solution you end up finding I hope you'll be getting regular solid sleep again soon.

Also I think the calendar has ticked over, so: happy, happy birthday!

Happy Birthday!!!!! Hope you have a lovely time in the mountains and that it's not too cold up there! I can't function if I don't sleep well, so I tossed our old mattresses that weren't comfy and bought inexpensive bed in a box replacements. We've had good luck with them. They seem to last almost as long as traditional mattresses and are nowhere near the price. So glad the memorial went well. More happy birthday wishes, and I hope when you get this you are curled up with a nice tea and a happy dog getting warm and cozy!
Thanks, M. As you can see from my new avatar I love this heart. It's gorgeous! The spare queen bed is comfy, but I need a KS Winter-weight doona & cover for it as I only have a QS one. I foolishly don't sleep in that bed as I leave it for when R comes up to visit. Considering that's only every couple of months it's a bit silly. I made the KS bed better last night by adding another doona after I had a couple of hours in the middle of the night where I woke & couldn't get back to sleep. I feel OK this morning.

Thank you, Llama xoxo
Happy birthday!!! Have fun!!!
Thanks, Vic. I did xoxo
oh just stopped in and see it's your birthday Cate! A very happy birthday to you!! 🎂💕
Thanks, Liza xoxo
Have a wonderful birthday lovely Cate and I hope you enjoy the golf, despite the icy conditions!

❤️🎂⛳
Thanks, Em xoxo. I'm not sure that I enjoyed the golf, but I'm still glad I played (I think). It sure was cold.

While the memory of my golf game in the cold was fresh in my mind & after getting a birthday voucher from a hiking/travel store I ordered a couple of thermal tops online. We need them. I think I'll go out to the club tomorrow & set my buggy up with its cover for Winter. You get cold in a buggy as your body doesn't warm up from walking as much. I'll also keep an eye out for some extra clothes I can leave in it, like another beanie. Maybe even a nanna rug!

Making sure you stay comfortable, whether in bed or in your buggy, sounds like a sensible thing to invest in. And if it has a chance of improving your sleep as well? All the better.

Wearing thermals is sensible. I haven't bought any for years & I wanted some plain ones that would look OK & double as tops. I got one in blue & one in black. I had been emailed a voucher for my birthday. I wish I could fix my weird sleep pattern. I do seem to alternate between good & bad sleep. Hopefully, tonight will be good.

Staying nice and cozy and comfy while getting outdoors when the weather is cold is so great when you figure out the how of it. Sitting in a cart would definitely add to that challenge!

Thanks, Marsia, Llama, Liza & Em. I did get a good night's sleep. At least I'm alternating.
We have a daunting week coming up. Tomorrow is G's Vets' golf (+ his 8-ball at night), Wed women's golf, Thursday night we're going to see his brother in a show, Friday we have the grandkids & both sons here for lunch to farewell our GD, Saturday golf, Sat night 90th birthday party & Sunday golf back up the mountain. Something has to give! EEK! I don't think anything is changeable.

Wow, that's some schedule! You need a personal assistant. I hope you can figure out something good as far as getting your sleep schedule back to normal, especially for your crazy week ahead. Could you stay the whole night in the comfy bed for a few nights until your sleep pattern is back to normal? That will be so nice seeing your granddaughter off on her adventure! I liked the heart, too. It reminds me of the embroidery my grandmother used to do. I'm happy you like it!

That does look like a busy week but all of it sounds fun! At least you'll have most of Thursday off, or is it a long drive to where the show is?

Oh boy I get exhausted just looking at all those plans Cate! I hope you can enjoy it without getting too tired.

Are you playing mountain golf again Cate, even though you didn't really enjoy it? That is certainly a busy week! I'm jealous, haha!

I have had two good nights of sleep in a row, in our bed, which is a relief. Having the family here for lunch to see E off on her adventure will be lovely. I love that heart, M! If I was able to embroider that I really would struggle to give it away. I might make some more hearts today.

I can make it easier by not playing golf tomorrow and/or not playing on Sunday. We do have the day free on Thursday but G will cook & I will clean the house. The show is 40 km away but it's an easy drive along the highway. R will probably arrive here while we're out, but that's ok. I don't feel so overwhelmed by it all this morning after having 2 good nights of sleep in a row.

I think it looked worse than it is, Liza. I can adjust it if I need to.

I'm committed to going back up there again on Sunday, Em but I may just drive around the course & not play. It's an option if I feel too tired after playing on Saturday & then the 90th birthday party. I don't like being so busy & like to have a day in between stuff, but this all just happened that way. It will all be fun but I get a bit daunted by such a busy schedule.

I have the whole day at home on my own again & must not snack. G made a seafood risotto yesterday & I have some left for my lunch. I will have a little fruit & yoghurt after it. I must weigh myself soon. I feel much better about myself when I don't know what I weigh. That's a fact.

A's operation went for 14 hours yesterday & they think it went well. M & his son, D will see him this morning. 🤞

14 hours?! That's wild. I hope he recovers well.
Glad to hear you have a bit of wiggle room with your busy schedule and feel better about it with some decent sleep.

I'm glad you have had some good night's sleeps--it really does make everything feel more manageable when rested doesn't it? And good too that there is some flexibility in the schedule that you won't necessarily have to participate in everything if you don't feel up for it. I hope you can enjoy it all!
That is incredible about the 14 hour surgery! Surgeons are amazing!

Wishing A all the best for his operation.

Great to hear you are catching up on sleep! Try to enjoy the busy week! :)
