By Devine right.

Well it has been a while. I really have spent almost o time online. Strangely enough I have a new job now .... demolishing the place where I used to work. Regardless I am still doing well. I am down to 273 now from my starting weight in April that was well over 310. For a while the running was going well. However ... my weight started to beat up the joints pretty good. I did not give up however. Instead I took on a sexy new mistress with the name Specialized. I never thought of cycling before as enjoyable. Boy was I friggin wrong. I could not be happier with the my Allez. Once I got past the initial soreness I found I could push myself much further that when running. And despite my weight I can climb quite well. Anyway I hope to find the time to start updating this again a bit more regularly.

Well yesterday was a good day. I Ended up being stuck at work until about 7:30, I go in at 6. This schedule has been really pushing the limits of my energy levels lately. Yesterday I brought extra fruit and a Myoplex to have right before I left work as opposed to using it as a recovery meal. When I got home I ran my 10k route and felt good. In fact I couldn't stop. My legs were all jumpy and restless. It was getting dark and I didnt want to ride the roads since I do not have any lights. So instead I grabbed the mountain bike to run the hill at the local park's sled slope. Everything went fine until the ride home, about a 1/4 mile, when I was doored by the wife of my neighbor. I wasnt hurt except a bruise on my shoulder but the woman became hysterical. It took about 5 miutes to calm her down. Nothing happened to her car and I only popped a spoke, so no harm was done. But it was an interesting way to finish the day.

On another note, only two weeks until my first "race" ever. I will be running the Nike Human Race in NYC on the 31st. I am looking forward to it now that I know I can easily finish it.

Hey thanks for stopping by my journal, 273 from 310 is a great change, 40 pounds! Isn't it ironic, go and grab a plate at a gym that's 45 lbs. and try running with it.... it sucks. That's how much you've already dropped off your frame.

Sounds like a similar thing happened to you that happened to me, got out of the military and still ate the same, with much less activity. That adds up over time. Anyways, keep up the good work... looks like you're on the right road.

Ouch. Well yesterday was the Tour De Goshen. I am rather sore at the moment. On one hand I am glad that I switched from the 62 mile route to the 45 ... on the other.. I am not certain I could be any more sore.

On a good note my new shorts made their maiden voyage yesterday. Not certain it was a good idea to not try them ahead of time but it worked out for the best. I think the extra psi in the tires also made a huge difference as I felt much smoother on the road.

I hit up my full body workout last night, sans legs for obvious reasons. I actually had quite a bit of energy as it was not until this morning that the soreness set in.

I think tonight I might just hit up a 10 mile route that I have mapped that has very little elevation change.

We've missed you during your hiatus. Glad to hear things are going well. Keep it up you're doing good.

cycling is cool just watch out for all the dip****s on the road. I've almost been killed a couple times. Unless of course you have the luxury of riding on trails.

I do have a mountain bike but it is nothing special (Mongoose something or another) ... and after getting a decent road bike (Allez) it feels like the MTB is made of friggin concrete. I also wish I had purchased a hardtail. The MTB is not complete crap but it is not close to being a great bike. I like hitting easy trails at times but I much prefer grinding out hills on the road and seeing how fast I can go. We do have plenty of back roads around here. They certainly present there own risks, yet are still pleasant to ride.

Last night my friend and I went out for a short ride with the intent to only go for about an hour. We hit some hills and made it to the turn around point. Well of course at that point we were basically racing each other and never actually turned around. By the time we got back it was pitch black and neither of us have lights or reflectors. It was not fun. I am searchign around today for a set of lights to put on since the days are only getting shorter. I want something smaller more for driver recognition than for my own vision. I also want it to have a quick release so its not "permenant".

I do say my upper body is sore today while my legs that were gel last night are fine.

Nice job on completing a 45 mile course. How much air pressure do you have in those tires and how much do you weigh?

Weighed 283 this morning. Tires are at 120.

I was told they were at 110 when I picked the bike up from its first tune-up, I never checked them myself having lost my adapter It wasn't until that morning that I got another.

Well not to much to report today. I worked past the hours of useable daylight and as such was not able to ride; I hate the shorter days. I did no a full body workout in the evening. My eating was clean today despite the Siren's song of Chinese takeout that faced off with me today. Man I love that stuff, but I avowed not to eat any again until I meet my milestone of 250 lbs.

Those tires due to my weight? You calling me fat? Haha. Do you think I should change them now? I was more worried about the stock wheels holding their own. I am loseing weight steadily but I have a long way to go until I am back to my goal of a built 200.

WED:

Got out of work early and was able to get home and still have time to take the bike out on the "heritage trail" that runs 18 miles between Goshen, NY and Monroe, NY (where velveta "cheese" was invented ...barf). I didnt run the entire trail as the last few miles of one end arent paved. My total distance was 26 miles at an average speed of 20 on the dot. Meaningless stats really but still fun to try and get that number up using a "constant" route. Stopped at the LBS, which is about 1/2 a mile from the Goshen end of the trail, to see if they had any bib shorts in entended sizes. Of course they didnt. So until I find one on the internet I will be using my plumbers crack, I have no hips and succomb very readily, as a warning device to motorists.

Wore my "Crown Jewel", love that name, shorts on the road yesterday. I was apprehensive about taking them on a ride that was as long as it was due to the bagginess. They were great and I didnt have to walk around in my road shorts which was nice. I think I am ordering another pair as my LBS is also out of them.

Managed to also book a 4 day trip in Oct to tampa/clearwater. Went in the spring and had actually planned on hitting up St. Martin again in the fall. But the wifey is now pregnant and we would rather spend a little less on a vaction right now. I love the clearwater area and this is hardly a dissapointment.

Second. Out first is 2 years and 2 months. My wife is a teacher and we trying to work it so she will go on maternity leave that will flow into her summer off. I guess I did good since it happened right away. :yelrotflmao: Of course I miss out on the "well we have to have sex tonight ... we want a baby right?" period.

Well that's cool, sounds like it happened pretty quick. My daughter was conceived the very first try (literally) as well heh... I used to warn some of my female friends they might not want to sit too close to me, my boys can swim through lead walls! :) And the good news now is that you're in the period of "it helps situate the baby correctly in the womb, doctors recommend it"... I loved that period too.
