Bike, Ski, Swim, or Lift?

Today was a bit warmer earlier so I went mountain biking at a comfortable pace. I didn't want to overdo it after my harder effort yesterday. Today was only around 1 hour 45 minutes of ride time, but it was so fun to get out onto the dirt, ride a couple small drops, pick my way through some rock gardens, and take in nature.

Very nice work you are doing over here.

It is unfortunate that your user name is so close to the retard BikeSwimLaugh- hahahahah just teasin you BSL, in case you see this- don't do disertations in this guy's log either. :11doh:

Hey there, thanks for reading! I have done a tad bit of climbing, and there is plenty of it around here, but I just don't feel passionate about it. That was me on the bike...I pretty much only have pictures of me on bikes :yelrotflmao: I've diversified my exercise since the knee injury but I will always rather ride than do anything.

My season this year will start with a 12 hour mountain bike race the end of May that I am doing as a 2 person team with my husband. Most of my events will be road time trials or downhill mountain bike races.

Swim workout: 3100m

500m Freestyle(even pace)
• 2 x 100m Backstroke Easy, rest 0:15 / 100m
• 2 x 100m Freestyle Easy, rest 0:20 / 100m
• 3 x 100m Freestyle Catch Up, rest 0:15 / 100m
• 2 x 200m Freestyle Swim, leave on 04:10 / 200m
• 5 x 100m Freestyle Swim, leave on 02:10 / 100m
• 2 x 200m Freestyle Swim, leave on 04:10 / 200m
• 10 x 50m Freestyle Swim, leave on 01:08 / 50m
• 2 x 50m Freestyle Easy, rest 0:15 / 50m

This was a pretty tough swim workout for me and my 50's towards the end were real hard to stick with. I argue with myself a lot over whether to go slow and take the whole 1:08 to where I'm really just swimming a straight 500m or do I go faster and take big rests before each 50. I tried to do faster ones to where I was swimming the 50 in 53 seconds and then resting 20 seconds till the 1:08 was up. TIRED

Good thing I had my lights on my bike last night because it got dark for the end of my ride. 18.61 miles on my cyclocross bike and it was pretty cold out. I probably could have doubled up on the knee warmers but other than that I was dressed perfectly. Pretty tired this morning when I got up but nothing is sore.

Happy Tuesday! For lunch I went swimming and just swam a straight mile focusing on long smooth strokes. I think Andre Agassi was in the lane next to me. I swear the guy looked just like him! Anywho - I feel good this afternoon.

Good morning sunshine! Actually, no, it snowed last night and is still snowing. So, I'll probably ditch the bike workout and going xc skiing after work instead. Added bonus - it's light till at least 7:30 so I won't need my headlight.

Last night I rode my bike to the gym and then rowed for 25 minutes as an added cardio session. I did some ladder intervals trying to keep my watts above 235 for progressive times.
15 on 45 off
30 on 30 off
45 on 15 off
60 on 15 off
repeat twice

then I lifted lower body (leg press, hamstring curl, deadlift straightlegged, abductor and flexors)

core
100 bicycle
100 reverse crunch
100 ball crunches
2X3min planks
50 V-ups with weighted ball

Then the trick...ride back home. I never get why so many people drive to the gym to workout. It seems silly. I usually ride or walk. Sure, my legs were a bit shaky, but it was nice to work it out a bit.

Big day. I swam at lunch - one mile again. The pool has been set up for the full Olympic 50meters all week and I while I find that easier to keep track of in my mind as far as distance goes, it's harder to focus for me and I feel sloppy. After work I rode my bike 16.02 miles and then did my core workout.

Tomorrow is Friday!

Thursday's workouts:

Deep water running for 45 min at lunch. I kept it around cadence 80/min which equates to a 7 minute mile (I read that somewhere). So I ran somewhere around 6 miles.

After work was rowing and lower body weights again.

Friday was my day off so Saturday I felt nice and fresh for my mountain bike ride. I got in about 20 miles before the storm caught up and the temps dipped. I truly love mountain biking and had a blast on all the singletrack...even the long climbs.

It snowed 2 feet in the last couple days so I went skate skiing Sunday. I calculate that we skate skied between 20 and 22 km before my knee was yelling and we had to call it a day. My hamstrings are sore after having upped the effort with my deadlifts last week. I have less than two months to go for the 12 hour mountain bike race I'm doing in May. No problem, I'll be ready. It was hard to check the bike sites and read reports of the National Mountain Bike Race that took place this weekend. I scanned the names and found where I would have slotted in if I still raced. It's tough to give up.

shheeeeesh it's be nice if somebody else did some serious working out around here! then I could rep you again!

hahhaha

keep going man!! keep going!

I missed a couple updates. Monday I was only able to get my lunch ride in - 11 miles and then back to the office. I skipped my evening workout to hear the former President Clinton speak. He was in town to campaign for his wife and I had to listen in.

Tuesday I swam an easy mile at lunch - the pool was set up for longcourse 50m and I breezed through the 18 laps it takes to get a mile in. FELT AWESOME.

After work I did hills - rode 28.74 miles and I'm still working up the elevation...just a bunch of smaller hills to zap my legs. TIRED

I was teasing that "noboby else is doing as much" therefore they do not earn "rep." And I can't just give it to you, because the thingy tells me I have to spread it around. Which is a good thing- otherwise I'd never rep derwyddon- lol:p

I was giving you a compliment- tho it was hared to notice --hehehehe

hehehe -ok, gotcha. Just for that I think I'll swim at lunch :)

Dead tired after last night's ride. 41.25 miles on my cyclocross bike on pavement, sand, and gravel roads. It took 2 hours 24 minutes and there were a couple slogging sections through deeper sand where I pedaled with all my strength and would barely go anywhere. TIRED!

Found enough energy to swim a mile at lunch and then hit the gym after work. I rowed for 25 minutes and then did my core workout and some lower body. Today (Friday) is my day off and I'm going out after work so beer WILL be comsumed. Friday is my cheat day sort of.

The weather isn't supposed to be too warm this weekend, I'm bummed because I was planning on getting some nice long rides in. Oh well, I'll still do something that's for sure!
