Best type of food to eat at night.

I know this thread is almost dead but it'll still pop up on google when someone types "food to eat at night" or something. So I would just like to say that a good munchie is sugar free Jello. 40 calories per whole package! That is about 2 .25 cups of awesome jello-ness. Strawberry is quite good. Also you should know the 40 cal comes straight from 4g protein. No carbs or fat. so some extra protein, a good filler, testy textured... good for the craving person. But as for what you should eat.. Avoid transfat, and too much starch. If you eat something then wash it down with a could glass of water to facilitate gastric acid production, which occurs when stomach pH falls too low (which any neutral substance will do but water is calorie free).

So this will facilitate digestion and if there are lots of fats and starches they will not be used by the body for breathing and sleeping (simple sugars will be used instead), and they will get stored by the body which is what you don't want. So try for fruits with simple sugars.

Good point on the sugar free jello. No carbs or fat and of course has the great flavor.

Another great thing to eat at night or just in general that has a good taste and is also good for you is yogurt.

And of course you can't forget about fruits: banana's, oranges, apples, peaches, etc.

Eating Carbohydrates with shakes at night

Well im sure im not the only one that gets hungry at night... I know some people will say don't eat late, drink water, bla bla bla

What is the best type of foods to eat at night? such as low carb, etc...

Eating Carbohydrates with shakes at night

1 - Those numbers are really not set in stone. It's not a bad guideline but don't make that the rule.

2- Carbs with shakes? What do you mean by this? Are you saying along the lines of rice and protein shake?

Light Food

At night you should take heavy food. Eat something light which is easy to digest. Eating late at night also forces your body to use its energy on digestion,. One of the primary functions of sleep is to help you recuperate from the day. You want your body to be as relaxed as possible so you can wake up energized; so eat some light food like snacks.

None. If i eat or drink 3 hours before bedtime I dont lose much the next day because it takes time to work off.

FWIW i eat every night before bed, i cant sleep on an empty stomach. if its something light then i generally get hungry very quick, so i tend to make it something protein so it fills me for a while.
Couple scrambled eggs are only 120 cals and good, followed by a cup of tea helps. Yoghurt tends to make my stomach churn with the acids, so not a good one for me.
Couple slices of toast also work with a drink. I always drink before bed :)

I drink diet soda and eat ice cream may nights before bed. I like something sweet at the end of the day.

I feel sleepy at work

I stopped taking junk food the whole day..even stopped eating rice completely from past 3 weeks..Eat some turkey slices, veggie curry and muscle milk at night..but I often feeling sleepy at work around 10.30 or later afternoon around 3.00PM..
Other thing is I am 5'7''.. 167lbs..17% body fat ..I don't have any fleshy or spongy fat at all..not loosing weight at all after working out from 4 weeks..
Where I might be going wrong can you guys please help me out?..

Dont listen to these losers. Calories in and Calories out, I'm 6ft 170 lbs 18 and I do a 700 calorie a day diet with 1 hr excersize the morning, 1 in the afternoon and 2 at night

Well I also love eating my midnight snack exactly before bed, I usually eat some fruits like apple and other night maybe yogurt.

The type of food that you eat at night actually does matter because the type of food choose will dramatically change the hormones that you produce. After you fall asleep at night the chemistry of your body changes and at the core of this change is growth hormone, which should increase significantly. If you have a high insulin level at bed time, which will occur if you eat a lot of carbs, the research suggests that it will actually interfere with growth hormone production. So, ideally, it's best not to eat 3 hours before bed to allow insulin levels to normalize. If you do eat, choose non-starchy veggies or protein/fat foods (one of my favorites is turkey slices rolled in some part-skim pepperjack cheese. Other options: beef jerky, canned salmon, salad with chicken, or a low-sugar whey protein shake.

Im not sure if you are male or female. But I was that same weight and height at that age and I am a female. I am not an expert in nutrition but I do know 600 is not enough. You will start to break down muscle for energy. Muscle does burn calories so you will eventually become weak. I understand where you are coming from I was in your spot as well and I was trying to eat under 800 calories a day but it did not last for me it seemed impossible. I am now 4 years later 170lb I maintained between 150-155 for 4 years and over the last 6 months ive gained about 25lb and its increasing by the day I must do something about it but when you want to loose weight we all must choose a diet we can hold long term and thats where the struggle in weight loss is.

Drink Water if you feel hungry at night and go to sleep earlier. I recently started losing weight last month and lost 8 pounds with diet bet. I felt like I was giving up an addiction with all the cravings I had at night. Sometimes I would stay up until 1 am and feel so hungry. I started to train myself to go to sleep by at least 11pm or 10:30pm eating my last meal at 7pm. Anything after 7pm I would eat a small salad no dressing and after 9pm just water. It's really hard to change habits and that why I started a new challenge that begins Jan 16th. The weigh begins Jan 14-15th. If you want more information message me. My diet bet number is 57444. Message me for the full link.

I am planning to lose at least 50 pounds by july to reach my goal weight and just feel healthier. For anyone that wants to join me message me. Good luck everyone!

I like to eat butter with bread at night.......
