Everyone please read!!!
Please post your starting weight IN POUNDS PLEASE sometime on Monday. This challenge will run until Monday, July 24. I realize that because of time differences, people will be checking in at different times, but you will need to have checked in by early Tuesday morning (my time).

Each member needs to post in this thread at least once every three days. If you do not, you may be dropped from the challenge. If something comes up and you need to be gone for awhile, please let your team members know. Please do not leave the responsibility to me to make sure that all of your team members are posting regularly. I will be checking in with each team but I cannot always keep up with everyone. Please let me know if you think someone has jumped ship. (Maybe we can throw them a life preserver? ;) )

Please keep this clean. I encourage friendly competition. Please do not post rude comments in the competing teams' threads or diaries. The posts will be deleted if anyone does so and that person may be dropped from the challenge.

More will follow later about the postcards or ecards. Have I included everything? Let me know if there are any questions.

Have fun and good luck! :D

Hi guys!!!!!!!!!!

I'm excited for my first challenge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I weighted myself this morning and my start weight is 322.

I also had a really great talk with my hubby about this forum and the challenge and we made some rules and I told him how he can best support me in losing my weight and it was super awesome!:) I have to go grocery shopping tonight...any advice on what to get for best results???

Best advice i could give you.. .plan your menus for the week before going grocery shopping.. decide what are some healthy meals (I'm on a chicken breast kick this week) and then prepare a list and shop from that list.

Generally you want to stick to the exterior of the grocery store, meats, dairy, produce... but there are some good things in the inner aisles for you...

Read labels of things you buy... check calorie counts, check fat counts (especially trans fats and saturated fats), make sure that High Fructose Corn Syrup isn't in the ingredient list...

The spice aisle is your friend.. that will give you increased flavor without adding calories...

Yea I normally have a meal schedual for evening meals. Two nights a week we have red meat ( that was a compromise with hubby) 4 meat alternative nights (chicken, turkey, tuna/other fish), and one vegetarian night.

Durning the day I normally have the same things. For breakfast I have 12 grain bagel with a tsp of light cream cheese or whole wheat toast with a tsp of peanut butter, a glass of water, and a banana.

Then morning snack I like to have a pickle and a yoghert cup (low fat 40 cals) or a half cup of cottage cheese with cut fruit mixed in and water.

Lunch I have a garden salad with a tsp of fat free italian (5 cals) and a peice of fruit with water.

Afternoon snack is a pickle(love them), a handful of cheese cubes and a couple of whole wheat crackers and water.

Supper is one of the above nights with veggies and a garden salad and I have a glass of crystal light (iced tea flavor).

How does this sound???? Is there any improvements I could make?????

Kallie - I think the only thing I see that might be a concern would be the cheese. I love cheese, but have to really watch it because you get such a small amount for the number of calories. It sounds like you have a pretty low level of calories, though, so you are probably just fine with the cheese. :)

Look for some low calorie treats you can have every once in a while so you don't get discouraged and end up bingeing. I like to keep 100 calorie Blue Bell mini ice cream sandwiches in the freezer. I also like Jell-O, which is just 80 calories per serving, and I like the sugar-free Jell-O pudding. I think having a low-cal treat on a regular basis really helps me to avoid a big splurge on something like a milkshake.

I would love to have low fat snacks but my problem is, if they are in my house I will eat them all. Once I start I can't stop so it's best for me to have a no-fail environment and then "save" up and go out and use up those "treat" calories once in a while. I'm not at that point yet, but one day I will be.

I don't have the cheese(I don't really like cheese very much) everyday. I normally like to have a milk product for my snacks so, if I don't have the cheese, I have a yoghert cup or a half cup of cottage cheese and fruit.

I find if I need to snack, I have bagged mini carrots and I use those to snack on. I figure if I have to snack, then atleast it can be something that isn't so bad for me, right???
