Becki's Journal

LOL - yes it was a small boat, but ya'll could have joined us!

My eating got off track last night but I did get in 7.5 miles on my recumbant. I'm not sure why I quit at 7.5 - I had wanted to go to 10 and I wasn't too wiped out but it was HOT. So I stopped at 7.5. My plan was to go again this a.m. but I've been going non-stop at R.E. this morning and can't seem to find more than a few minutes together at a time.

This morning:
1 banana
granola and milk

The rest of the day went okay.

I had a hotdog and pretzels for lunch - It was a cleaning day and the girls were getting back from MI.
Dinner was a salad and veggie soup from Panera Bread (took oldest to dinner)

I didn't get more exercise. Once the girls got home we did a lot of talking and unpacking.

Tomorrow a.m. I'll ride my 10. Want to get in a mtn bike ride but probably won't until Mon.

Hey, have you tried the fat free/reduced cal franks? (I don't know why I felt compelled to refer to them as "franks," I usually refer to those mysterious links as "hot dogs") Oscar Meyer makes good-tasting fat free hot dogs, beef and turkey ones(no escess of mysterious meats like the chicken/pork/turkey ones ), only 40 calories apiece. Once I got over my initail aversion to their fat free-ness, I have found that I actually enjoy them.

Thanks for the tip! I usually eat turkey franks. Only because they seem 'healthier' ;)

I will pick some up next time we shop!

This morning was GOOD! But it's only 10... LOL

I did a HIIT workout on my recumbant bike. I'm waiting for coffee to brew and then I'll grab breakfast. (Waiting for my metabolism to kick in)

I had dropped a couple of pounds recently, but I put it back on. Granted my food choices aren't the best (since boating/camping) and my muscles are definitely getting more defined. My legs especially since riding so much. But I'm thinking I'm not losing fat quickly enough.

I baled on cutting out saturated fats with the vacation, so I'll start watching out for that again. If I can get away from my workload early enough, I'll take off to Jason's and ride a bit.

I understand about losing fat quickly. I want to do that too, but it will come off in time. I have no patience, but quickly learning it when it comes to losing fat.

Thanks She! I will try to be patient.... ;)

Today:

Latte and MOJO bar (by Cliff - pre-ride nutrition)

Rode 8.6 miles of basic double track - it wasn't technical but a good cardio workout - it took 1 hour and 15 min. one quick stop to take a pic.

Lunch
Banana, apple, 1/4 C granola and 1/4 C yogurt mixed. handful of honey roasted peanuts.

So far so good.

Today:

Two egg whites, sliced tomato, Wheat toast - dry
One biscuit - dab of real butter and honey
One tortilla with beans - no cheese, no salsa, no sr cream...
granola and yogurt
a Bowl of Cherries.

Worked about 6 hours and showed houses this afternoon. No major work out.
Back to work tomorrow morning.

Yesterday:
Two egg whites, sliced tomatoes, dry wheat toast
1/2 bbq burger, 3-4 fries, 1 presidente margarita
1/2 C granola, 1/4 C yogurt
Small bowl Spaghetti, sauce and hamburger (90% lean)

We went out after work - we go every month or so, and I had a margarita and split a burger with my girl.

I went home to Jason's and spent the evening doing laundry and sorting and cleaning from our trip. We've both been running like crazy since we got back a week ago. I didn't know we had that many clothes.

Planning on taking route 715 today. It's pretty techincal so I'll be walking part of it, but it's about 8 miles long and a pretty good MB trial.

I am not motivated to work today but I have three leads to follow up on. I felt really fat last night after having that margarita. Since my legs are getting muscle-y and I still have quite a bit of fat on them, my thighs are rubbing. I hate that feeling and haven't had that problem since I quit smoking 5 years ago. I'm sure it will go away soon but it's really a downer and makes me want to quit eating. I just have to not think about it!

So far today I've had a latte. I had it with whole milk because that's all there is. I need to get some 1% milk today.

So you get all paranoid when you have a drink or sumthin'? lol, well don't quit eating. Did you lose weight after you quit smoking? You said you didn't have the problem with your thighs since you QUIT. So I was just wondering..
how did you quit smoking? I am trying to do it and I keep screwing up and then I end up smoking my 5 cigarettes a day once again.. I was on the patches and they were making me extremely sick to my stomach and migraines and panic attacks...
bleck...
Well have a great day and EAT something for Christ's sake. Somthing with less sugar.

LOL - No I'm not paranoid when I drink but I really don't drink often. One margarita every month or two. (depending on when I go out and with whom) I felt bloated and I just felt leaden and heavy - probably the effect of alcohol wearing off.

When I quit smoking I was totally out of shape. I was about 145 but no muscle at all. I quit cold turkey after reading _Alan_Carr's_EASYWAY_to_Quit_Smoking. I don't think that book is available in the US anymore (He's in Europe as well as all of his Spas) i've looked for it to give it to friends that want to quit. however I gained a lot of weight. (I went from a size 10 to a size 16 - I think I hit 168)

I lost it a year or so later and was back to 135 - my basic weight since I was in high school. But I gained 25 lbs taking care of my folks (hit by a drunk driver, mom in the hospital for 6 mos - a coma for 4). So I'm at 160 and I just can't get below it. it's been 2 1/2 years and I did get to 144 on the Low Carb diet but I was always tired and out of energy. No muscles, no fun!!!

I smoked a pack a day for 16 years - 20 years from my first cig to my last!

Good luck quitting! It's the HARDEST thing I ever did!!!!

Good hike!!!

We ended up hiking the Spruce Mountain upper Loop - It was 4.5 miles. The first mile goes from a green to a black and ends at the beginning of the loop (has to be a green). The loop is 2.5 miles and is up and down. It started sprinkling as we started up the trail. By the time we were half way around the loop it was pouring. I had my rain coat but Gertie was black and muddy up to her little doggy armpits. We were out on the rim for a bit of it and lightning hit a few hundred yards from us. Gertie ran around my legs three times and wrapped me up in her retractible leash. By the time we got to the bottom the bottom half of my pants and my feet were mud soaked. Thankfully my pant legs zip off and I had a litre or so of water left in my hydropack. Washed the dog, washed my legs and shoes. Of course I wore my Chaco sandles instead of my heavy hiking boots! (Also thankful that my back seat is covered for Gertie - she was MUDDY!

I had a peanut butter and Jelly sandwich before we left and when I got back I had cottage cheese, yogurt and granola. I made another latte (no sugar or flavor, just French roast and milk.)

Gertie and I are showered and snuggling. This was a good day!

Sorry to hear about your mom. Gaining weight happens to the best of us. I don't think I gained that much weight when I stopped smoking, if any. Greene could tell you better than me. My weight gain was from having my daughter.

Monday night J and I went out to get some stuff for the fourth. We stopped for dinner and I had a few fries and half a french dip.

Yesterday:

Jason and I had latte's for breakfast (steamed milk, coffee, no sugar or flavor)
I had 1/2 C granola, 1/4 C yogurt
I ate a banana before our ride
Upon returning we prepared for family. We had Steak and Salad for dinner and watched the fireworks from the porch.
For desert there was German chocolate cake and ice cream. I had a small portion of both.

J and I rode about 6 miles maybe a bit more. We were going to try to do an 8 mile ride, but as we were nearing the top of the hill a huge black cloud came over the pass and it started to rain. We turned around and came back.

Today:
Granola and yogurt from breakfast
2 pc of ww french toast for lunch

I rode about 5 miles. It's pretty cold and windy so I went to where the really steep climb starts and then turned around and came back. It was about 2.5 miles gradually uphill.

It's a blah day. I think I'll hike later with Gertie if the weather clears up!

Thanks for the sentiment She, and it most definitely does happen to the best of us. ;)

I had the worst time quitting smoking. I know of some people who actually lost weight when they quit. I'm just not one of the lucky ones! LOL

LOL..wish I was one of them, but who knows. It's just a part of trying to quit.

Sorry you couldn't do all the miles you wanted. At least you are going out there and giving it an effort.

I just hiked the same 5 miles that I rode today.

I had a salad with tomatoes and Catalina light for lunch.

for dinner I made chicken and tomatoes, spaghetti noodles and broccoli spears.

Tomorrow I'm back to showing property and cleaning house.

It was a good day!

Thanks She - I could use another closing.
