Let's try to work together in August to meet our goals for the month. Those goals may include exercising however many days per week or eating healthy or (my personal favorite) losing some fat!

What are your goals for August and how do you intend to get there? :)

Let's try to keep each other posted on our progress (and what we're doing about it) on a daily basis to hold ourselves accountable.
 
OK, I'll join the August challenge :D.

My goal is to lose 2 pounds, which includes the 1 pound I was supposed to lose in July. Its really not easy to get that last 10 off :rolleyes:!

As to how I'm planning on getting there, I'm counting my calories and counting the calories I burn through exercise to come up with a daily calorie deficit (or a surplus..let's hope not). A calorie surplus means I ate more than I burned through exercise and my normal lifestyle activities (like eating, cleaning, walking around). A deficit means I kicked a$$ and burned more calories than I ate either because I exercised more or ate less. Once I rack up a calorie surplus of 3500 calories, theoretically I should have lost a pound.

This calorie deficit method seems to motivate me to exercise more because I get to eat way more.

I'll let you know tomorrow how I did on my first day of the challenge :D.

Oh yah... I'm a BIG fan of that thing called food. hahaaa! I'll join as well, Blancita. :D

Goal For August: To get through the first 30 days of Power90 and incorporate more cardio on my own.

My Master Plan: Do Sculpt 1-2 (weight training) and Sweat 1-2 (circuit training) first thing in the morning (5:30am) 6xs a week. Add Turbo Jam, belly dancing, kickboxing, hip hop/ street dancing, early morning brisk walks to burn more calories. Make things FUN and don't get BORED. Make sure to keep hydrated (10-12 c water) and keep up my protein intake as well as carbs. Naps are my friend. Take one if I'm starting to feel a bit sluggish.

My plan is simple - use the elliptical every morning 11+ miles :)

Walk the dog in the evenings - as long the energy is there

Monitor my eating and continue to eat healthy and drink my water...

Up till Sunday I will use the elliptical and walk the dog in the evening but on Sunday afternoon/evening Im goign away and I will re-evaluate what I am doing when I get there...
 
My Plan for August is to get to the gym at least 4 days a week for about 2 hours.

Continue to eat healthy and drink lots of water.

My weight goal is to attempt to get down to 240 for August 30th... I know this may not happen but I'm gonna really try:)

My plan for august:
1. Keep track of what I'm eating better. I've slacked off a bit on the weekends. Oops!
2. Make it to the gym a minimum of 3 times a week. I want to push for 4 times.
3. Work to lose at least 1lb a week. I was hoping for 2, but I can't seem to make that goal a reality.
4. Stress less! This past weekend was a good lesson in not stressing over things that were beyond my control. When someone comes over and treats myself and my boyfriend badly, we've agreed to ignore it, kick our feet up on our coffee table, and relax.

I've been stuck in the 180s for almost a year now. I want to see the 170s this month.

My plan for August;

I plan to do at least 3x a week cardio..(even if 1 day is push mowing lawn)
I plan to add strength training 2x a week the second week.
I plan to get back to drinking water each day.(have fell off that while I was out of town)
 
Great goals everyone! Please check in regularly to tell us how things are going. Oh and feel free to tell us the good, the bad and the ugly. If its the bad or ugly, we've ALL been there and hope to be of help.
 
This is the month that will turn it all around!!

I'll join and see at the end of the month how I did.
My goals: exercise two times a day. Up until now I only did once a day.

Run on the treadmill in the morning at 5.30 for 45 minutes, however many miles it will come out to be.
Then after work to do one of the following : turbo jam, pilates, boot camp(twice a week gym class), strenghttraining with dumbells and exercise ball. Take a day off somewhere too.
I think my eating is ok, I am pretty good keeping on track.

My weight goal to be in the 150's by the end of August. We'll see about that.

Hopefully I can get over into onderland by the end of this month.. its long overdue :D

I was ontrack yesturday - however - I didnt take the dog and the kidlette for a walk int eh evening - it was a hot stressful ont he go day and I was beat!!! I ate well and I drank tons of water used the elliptical for 13.25 miles...No elliptical this morning as i dont have the time early start today - blah! I might try to get on it later however - I need to go back to work agian this evneing ssssooo - ha ha ha - I might actually have a rest day andI cant remeber the last time I had a rest day...If I dont use the elliptical I will try to get out for a walk with the dog and kidlette
 
I'm in. My goals are simple:

1 Eat in cal range
2 Exercise( when I am through moving!!)
3 Drink all my water
4 Be at 147 at the end of the month.


That's 8 lbs and I probaly won't make it, but that's what I am shooting for. Just to give the extra determination that i need!
 
*this is the month i will no longer be overweight. gotta be positive!
*keep on track with my eating. last month was a bit of a disaster, too many trips to the biccy tin and crisps. had an awful attack of the "gallstones" too. dont want that to happen again.
*increase my veggie intake again. ive not been eating so many recently:mad:slim

Well, so far so good! I am sticking to my goals!
Ran on the treadmill this morning for 35 min. Interval so I was done in such a short time!!
Went to boot-camp after work.
Did not cheat on my food.

Hi everybody! I'm hopping in on this challenge too. Here are my goals for the month. :) I had almost a 3 lb gain in July, so that's the first thing that's gotta be fixed.

1. Get back to 150 by Aug 31
2. Increase my water intake by 1-2 glasses per day
3. Eat more fruits
4. Go running at least 3 times per week

JR, you DO sound very determined so I have no doubt you'll meet your goals. Definitely keep us posted on the progress.

Sunnydee, you and I appear to be in the same boat. I seem to have put on more weight while being really "good" than when I was being half-assed about things.

So my progress report is rather depressing, but somehow I'm up 3 pounds overnight. And this is while I've been eating well and exercising for the past few weeks. WTF! Oh well, unfortunately the absolutely only option is to try harder and keep moving forward with my goals. My body seems to have a mind of its own and I must try increasingly harder to make it do what I want and drop that fat. Oh yeah, and since I had taken my yearly 3 month break from the weights, we can't blame this on "more muscle". Water or fat are my only options, with water being the preferred answer.

I'll be starting back at the gym with the weights on Monday. Let's see if that kicks things off in the right direction!
 
Ok so yesturday - I didnt have timet o use the Elliptical int eh am...I had an early work start and I didnt walk the dog - its been so hot and Ive been tired. Ya knwo but not usign the elliptical in the mornign - I sure noticed a difference in my energy level - I had like no energy!!!

I was draggin my ass all day long...I actually had a concrete solid rest day - couldnt telly ouw hen the last time that was...I got a few things accomplished and did clean liek 5 freakin places...so it isnt like I sat on my ass and did nothing but it is the first time I didnt do any exercise at all...

It is supposta be clooler today so I will actually walk the dog this evening:)
