Atkins

Atkins & Low carbs SUPPORT ONLY PLEASE!

Ok I am sticking with this and I decided maybe others may be doing it and I can also share my info on it as well! Basically i lost 16 pounds in 3 weeks on this but you have to go through all the phases to make sure you kee it off! I willt ry to share them on here as well! I restarted November the 27th 2006 and as of this morning when i weighes which was 48 hours i lost 5 pounds! I know this is the diet for me! After you get over the sugar and carb cravings you feel awsome and have lots of energy as well! It takes 2 weeks to get cleansed completely and to see results but the first 3 days will be your roughest! But the cravings will be gone and the urge to binge as well as being hungry disappears as well! So I will share things tomorrow and feel free to share if you know anything as well!

well good luck.......I hated being on low carb atkins stuff.......and the weight i lost came back on really fast.....a diet of heavy whip cream and sasuage is not that great........but if ya can do it more power to ya sister!!!

I find atkins works well for me as my body dosen't process carbs properly. In two weeks i have lost 32 lbs which is a huge amount to lose - so I'm sticking with it for a while!!
 
I did atkins but I couldn't see myself doing it for the rest of my life....like reach4astar, when I stopped, the weight I'd lost (and more!) was gained back very quickly.

atkins vs. michael thurmonds

i have been on both but its been yrs since i did atkins. has anyone tried both of these and if so, which one did they see faster results?
 
You see fast results with atkins 2 of us are doing it and we started last thursday and have lost 6 pounds!

Just keep in mind the physics of the whole thing. I've mentioned this several times before but I guess I need to again. To actually get rid of FAT and not water weight, you have to burn it. No fad diet is going to let you sidestep this fact. One pound of fat is approximately 3,500 or 3,600 calories. To lose 32 pounds, you would have to burn an EXTRA 112,000 calories beyond what you consume. Given your time table, that's 2.3 pounds and 8,000 calories PER DAY. That means if you need 2,000 calories to normally maintain yourself, you're burning 10,000 calories per day. I can almost guarantee that this did not happen. Low carb diets get everybody excited because they watch that weight apparently melt away so fast, at least at first... but unfortunately it's not fat.

Look everyone, we are a group of people here to support each other. If you dont' agree w/ Atkins, fine..but don't go to someone's thread that enjoys it and make comments like that...that goes for CD too.

Sorry... it's just kind of like... some of us have a hard time sitting silently and watch people get so happy over easy short term results that is probably hurting them severely over the long run. How can you be supportive in that situation? It's kind of like watching somebody go on a heroin diet. Everybody knows you can lose weight with heroin, and I'm sure that the user enjoys it, so what's the problem, right? I guess some of us just needs to be more supportive. :(

DO YOU MEAN 2 MONTHS? I SEROUSLY DOUBT YOU CAN LOSE 32LBS IN
2 WEEKS THAT WOULD BE 16LBS PER WEEK:confused:
WE ALL WOULD BE THIN.

I really wouldn't compare atkins to heroin either. Thats a little dramatic, don't ya think?

All I know is that heart disease has killed a helluva lot more people than heroin ever even thought about. Sorry for caring. Yes it's a tad bit dramatic, but, at least you can see where I'm coming from. Long term to me doesn't mean 5 years... it means 50. It's not the keeping the weight part off that bothers me. I'm quite sure you could. I'll shut up now. Just be careful.

Ok I HAVE SIT BACK AND LET YOU GO ON AND ON IN OTHER THREADS TO PUSH PEOPLES BUTTONS i BASICALLY USUALLY OVERLOOK A LOT BUT COMPARING US TO DRUG USERS AND THEN DOWNING SOMETHING YOU BASICALLY HAVE NO DR DEGREE IN IS JUST PUSHING IT TO THE LIMIT! I STARTED THIS THREAD ITS MY THREAD AND YOU CAN TAKE YOUR CRITICISM AND KNOW IT ALL ATTITUDE TO ANOTHER THREAD! IF ITS A FIGHT YOU WANT YOU HAVE MESSED WITH THE RIGHT PERSON SO BRING IT ON!

Nobody said that. She said she WOULD die, because that diet made her blood cholesterol level skyrocket... which is exactly what's going to happen to alot of people if they consume a massive amount of cholesterol year after year after year. Does that fact not bother anybody else?
 
basically this diets works different for different people I have no cholesterol probs no high blood pressure and I am in great health except for being overweight atkins adds good carbs back in and it helps alot of medical problems as well there is more to it so research it before you down us! we get carbs back we just learn to choose the right carbs so basically we can keep it off and I will prove after I get this off in a year I will maintain it!
 
I think my bias is due to me seeing so many people do Atkins horribly incorrectly. I've seen so many people group absolutely anything and everything under the banner of "Atkins". I don't know if there are dozens of different low carb diets and now people are confused, or what, but I've literally witnessed several people do things like eat ALOT at the KFC buffet, a chinese buffet, or a pizza buffet... every day... and they believed they were eating as healthily as they possibly could since they didn't eat the mashed potatoes at KFC, the noodles at the Chinese place, or the crust at the pizza buffet. This isn't just one or two people I've watched do this either. So basically, every single time the word "Atkins" or "low carb" pops up, I hear/see people say things that makes it sound like they're doing this same type of thing. The term "Atkins" often comes up as an excuse, rather than a remedy.

If you're not one of these people, and you do it right, and you know for a fact that you're not hurting yourself, and it's working... then good for you. I simply fear for the uneducated folks who fall into the category above. Trust me... there's ALOT of them.

I don't choose it for myself due to athletic performance reasons, but as it was previously mentioned, that's no reason to preach against low-carb... unless you also have similar concerns, which I doubt you do.
 
well basically low carbs fit health food in like i can have chicken breast and a salad just the salad is portioned I know atkins has a bad rep but that is like anythingelse when people misuse it to fit the way they want it to be for them but if it is done right that is a whole different story and I am going through all the phases to do it correctly! I am a carb addict and this is the only way I have overcome letting carbs control me and it works! I am sorry I went off I just dont know why it is so bad if you do it right i mean all the other stuff is bad to and you can find pros and cons with any diet! I made this thread to try to help educate people on this diet and help them do it the right way! Anyways I am sorry it takes a lot to get me upset and I dont do drugs or rarely ever drink for that matter and that heroin thing set me off I am a carb addict and I know basically thanx to manufacturers a lot of people are!
