I have found that my major downfall is eating at social events or dinners. Even if I'm not hungry I feel like I have to eat because otherwise people start asking all kinds of crazy questions.

I had a circle of friends that met for dinner 2-3 times per week.
I could not keep down the weight.
So then I met up with them only once a week.
That helped a little.
Now I seldom call any of them. And when I do, they always want to meet for dinner.
So now I meet up with them only once every other month.
And I eat exactly half of everything and take the rest home in a box.
They know I have a weight problem and always insist I order dessert, which I no longer do.
One friend would call me 2 or 3 times a week to meet for breakfast.
Some of those breakfasts are way over 600 calories!
My breakfast at home is only 200 calories.
Finally I told her that with the cost of gasoline, I could no longer afford to eat out as often.
That was the best thing I could do, cuz I have lost 5 lbs now in the last 2 months.
So cut way down on the dinner dates. It will sure add to your weight loss.
It is working for me.
But I do miss seeing them as often. But I like seeing a skinnier me too.
(And the money I am saving on restaurant bills I can now spend on smaller size clothes!)

Me bad!...Me evil!...Me soooooooooooooooooooo disappointed. I am 205.6 up from 201.4 (I think that's what it was). Anyways...up 4 pounds!!!!!!!!!

Breakfast:
1 bowl of museli cereal with skim milk and coffee.

Then I weighed in when I got to work.

Lunch 1 sesame seed bagel with honey mustard and tuna, plus peanuts, and water.

I managed to get 3 1-L bottles of water into me at work.

Supper: homemade spaghetti.

So, tomorrow morning, I'm getting up 30 minutes earlier and going for a walk before I do anything else. I will by August 31st, have 8 pounds gone...I PROMISE!!!!

Glad to hear everyone has lost some this past week. Keep it up guys!!

Bingo I know what you mean....everyone always expects the fat guy (girl) to get dessert. It's kindof annoying...no it's really annoying. They don't realize that their expectations make us want to fit into their little mold. Ugh.

Anyway. Bingo, have you tried inviting your friends to your house for dinner...this way you can control the menu!

oh shoot, i have not been getting any email reminders when someone does a post here. Normally if anyone posted here, i would know via email and so i could come and join the group and reply. Lately i havent been getting any emails and i thought no one was posting. today i came in to put my updated weight and how i feel abt it when i saw so many postings.
Anyways, ppl i lost 2 pounds!! :) i was so happy at first but then the next day i saw it fluctuate back to the original and it keeps on doing that...... either my scale needs fixing or its my thyroid kicking in.... i got my blood test done just in case to see if my medication needs updating.
anyways, i have lost 2 pounds but it looks like ages....2 weeks of intense labour!!! walking 35 mins, low carb diet( no pasta, rice and stuff) and no lunch has just given me 2 pounds off which is also on an unknown scale. anyways i am glad atleast something is there to be happy about. i hope it goes down quick.

Thanks for the tidbit on the hoola hoop! Will pick one up the next time I see one. So far this week, I've been good...only time will tell though.

I will weigh myself tomorrow and see how much I lost this week.
Probably haven't lost much, because I had 2 days when I ate too many calories.
Oh, Well...there is always next week.
Best of luck to all of you!

I like refried beans.
That's why I wanna try fried beans, because maybe they're just as good and we're just wasting time.
You don't have to fry them again after all.

How did everyone do this week? I ended up losing 2.5 lbs, I think I actually lost part of that last week but hey I'll take it. I love watching the ticker go down! Yes I am easily amused. I guess it doesnt really seem like I have been doing much different, but I have been eating a little bit better, I think that must help. I actually feel like I dont eat as much when I am bored, which is great because I think that was mu biggest problem. Well how is everyone else doing? I have been bad at posting throughout the week, I'll try to get better at it this week. best of luck with the weigh in!:)

WOW ELLA83,
That is really great!
I lost 1 pound again. I have 21 more to go.
Looks like it might 21 more weeks at the rate I am going!
But that's a lot better than gaining 21 lbs. LOL
:)
And Kaitie:
"Anyway. Bingo, have you tried inviting your friends to your house for dinner

I have invited my friends for dinner at my house, but they never invite me for dinner to theirs.
They do invite me over for dessert and coffee, however, but that's it.
So I feel I better not go all out with a dinner anymore. They are thin, so they watch their calories.
But when I had my dinners they really ate a lot.

I've been on a constant diet for the last two decades.
I've lost a total of 789 pounds.
By all accounts, I should be hanging from a charm bracelet.

Congratulations Tornado! You are well on you way to a skinnier you.
(Wish I would have lost 5 lbs too.)

I just clipped 2 articles from a current magazine.
One is a diet guaranteed to drop 5 pounds off my body in a weekend.
The other is a recipe for a 6 minute pecan pie.

:) Bet I won't be so lucky this week...actually I don't want to lose 5 this week...the slower, the steadier, the better.

Okay, I weighed in this morning and lost 4 more lbs. I am getting kind of scared that I am losing too quickly though. Im not starving myself though and I have been working out. Is this really bad?

One more pound lost this week!
And I can wear 3 of my old blouses. YAAAY!
And I am feeling better too.
I hope to shrink down to the next smaller size by The Holidays.
(And lose another pound by next Monday!)
Hope all of you are losers too. LOL

ELLA'S really on a roll! ... CONGRATULATIONS ELLA!!:D

I'm up to 202.8;HOWEVER, it is the time of the month and am really bloated, so with that said, I've actually probably maintained. Good job guys!

You probably are retaining water.
When I retain water I either eat asparagus or a big slice of watermelon.
Both are diuretics, and there is no problem eating either one.
They are much healthier than taking water pills.
Even Gatorade Endurance seems to help.

Raw pumpkin seeds stop carbohydrate cravings

I keep forgetting to tell all of you.
I discovered that raw pumpkin seeds stop carbohydrate cravings.

All I do is eat 3 tablespoons raw seeds and the carbohydrate cravings are gone the next day.
They take 24 hours to work.
And the cravings disappear for about 3-4 days, then I eat more.
It really helps with my dieting.

I buy the raw pumpkin seeds at the health food stores.
They have no shells and are not cooked.
They have no salt or flavorings.
I pay from $3 -$5 per pound, depends on the store.
And a pound will last me over a month.

I get a lot of energy from them too, my hair has grown in really thick and I am no longer sleepy in the afternoon.
So they help with a lot of things other than cravings.
Sunflower seed won't work, neither do other seeds they sell.

I bought a talking refrigerator that said "Oink" every time I opened the door.
It made me hungry for pork chops.

wow, thats interesting about the pumpkin seeds, I have never heard that before, I cant wait to try it. You ladies are doing an awesome job, I look forward to seeing your posts each week, it helps keep me motivated! Have a great week!

i am so depressed today ladies :( i have been trying my best cutting carbs and walking 35 mins a day ( normal paced walking- not real fast and not slow either) and i lost 2 pounds, but my weight keeps jumping back. i thought it was my thyroid acting a bit and had my blood test done. the doc told me my thyroid is fine with the thyroid pills ia m taking, i am real anaemic and thats all. i am taking iron tablets at the moment, but not losing weight is killing me. i am trying so hard, no thyroid problem and still the two pounds i lost keep jumping back up :(.
ill definately try the raw pumpkin seeds, but what else shall i do? i am so depressed :(

myFirstOne, the pumpkin seeds might help get rid of the depression. But it would take a couple of weeks, I think.
What gets rid of anemia is eating meat. Pumpkin seeds help a little with anemia also.
Pumpkin seeds are very high in zinc. Zinc helps with the hormone balance.

You might try Gatorade Endurance. It is real high in Potassium. There is such a thing as a potassium, hormone, electrolyte imbalance. Whether or not that leads to depression, I don't know.
Gatorade helps me a lot.
So if you are drinking soda, you might think of switching to Gatorade. It is a lot lower in calories.
And if you hold water, watermelon and asparagus are natural diuretics...no harm done by them. Water pills can make you sick.

I count my calories to lose weight. I try to keep the daily calorie count between 1500 and 1750 calories.
By eating just that many calories, I will lose only 1 lb a week, but that is O.K. by me...as long as I lose, I don't care how long it takes.
Here is the calorie counter I use:
