Hi,
I want to make a small team of buddies. My aim is to lose 20 pounds in the upcoming two- three months, starting mid of July to mid of September. I would like to have a small buddy team who shares the same goals- doesnt have to be the same 20 pounds, can be more as well as long as we have a team.
You can share the tips and exercises you are using and ill share mine and this way we can brag about how much we each lost, thus boosting the other to go another mile.
We will each meet once a week on this forum and update the post with the target weight and this way we will keep each other posted. Also wouldnt mind to share phone numbers to talk to each other or if we live closeby, to go on group walks. what do u think? anyone interested in the team called:

I would definitely be interested in joining a group with a common goal to keep us all going. I am also looking to lose 20 lbs by the end of September. Do you think that is too fast though? I would rather lose slower and keep it off than lose fast and it come back. I am definitely up for the challenge though. I think this will bring out the healthy competitive spirit in us all! Where do you live?
 
cool- i think 3 months should be enough to lose 20, if 2 months is too fast- what do u think? i am close to burnhamthorpe and south millway... what about u? too far- no worries, atleast we can update ourselves here and lets hit it then :) starting today!
 
hey another thing- i am new here and i see this ticker thing for everyone- i got my ticker but how do i get it up in the post as it looks for u?
i have the url, the html and the ezcode but whatever i put it in as , it doesnt come up like urs, it comes up like a link . what shall i do to get my ticker in the post?

I'd love to join! I have that miserable 20 pounds I've been carrying around forever. I gained more and lost it after my 2 pregancies with the help of Weight Watchers, except for those 20pounds!!!! Had to go back to work and that broke my healthy eating habits. I just joined a gym, the equivallent of Curves here in Quebec and I'm ready for a new start!! It would just be easier with the motivation of a group!
 
So I weighed myself today and I have lost 2 lbs, giving me 21 left to lose...yay me! Anyhow, its perfect timing for our challenge. Its on tomorrow. What day do you guys/gals want to check in/meet/call, whatever is good for me, just let me know.

cool- here is what we have to do( if everyone agrees):

1) share what you plan to do to shed the pounds
2) update us every week as to how it went: how much u lost and how much more to go- share any mishaps/depressions/concerns
3)boost each other up and also challenge each other as well,as everyone is in a competition.


Here is my story and my plan and what i have to do:

I am going at the end of September to meet my folks and my husband's folks. My baby is 11 months and except for my mom, no one has met him- as we all live in two different countries. Anyways, i am going on my after birth vacation :) and need to look the way i did the last time i went there- that is 145 pounds and still in my pre wedding / pre pregnancy clothes:)
Now when my mom came she looked at me and i was 210 pounds. She thought she entered the wrong apartment!!! and was about to back out to appologize when i said mom its mee, come on in!!!! That was awful enough so i tried to lose the pounds coming down to 165. Now 20 more to go and i need all the help.
  • I commit to this buddy group that every day ill walk for 30-40 mins
  • I commit that i will eat only one portion of carbs- that is one toast or one tortilla or one cup of rice - more like atkin's diet which worked for me the last time
  • I will eat a healthy breakfast
  • Will cut down the dinner in half so to keep some room in the stomach- as i heard the most weight u gain is when u fill ur stomach full at dinner and then go to bed directly
  • I will have my materna..... ladies this is important, with all the dieting and stuff, we forget that we are losing the main essential nutrients and then get all the back aches and knee aches carrying our children around. We need to keep up with our vitamins and stuff. So materna every day!
  • I will not eat between meals and if i feel i need to chew on to something, ill take a chewing gum instead :)

So here is my commitment, and ill let everyone know every week whats my progress! GIRL POWER!!!!
 
Okay, here is what my plan is although it is more vague than yours.

I will go to the gym 3 times as week (afternoon) and do cardio for at least 30 minutes.
-I will continue to work out at least 3 times a week in the morning, usually runing and push-ups and situps
-I will always leave something on my plate, as I often eat whatever is infromt of me.
-I will make healthy choices when it comes to eating, my goal is to not binge.

Im sure I will add to this list as I go. I am also starting a book of articles that i have found in magazines and books that motivate me. When I am feeling like eating the whole kitchen, I will look through the book to try to get my motivation back.
I am also going to start an online diary.

Good luck everyone, I cant wait to post our results next week!

one tip for our buddies.... according to science when u have a craving to eat something and u really want to indulge in it, just try to occupy ur mind for few mins into something else like maye checking whats going on tv or check ur emails or something or check if ur baby has soiled the diaper( that should really work if its really soiled hehehhe)
and ur craving will go away!!!!
i tried it and it works!!!! :)
 
ok we still have to hear from nat whats her plan.
i did go for a walk and kinda got lost in the neighbourhood heheehhe and a 30 min walk turned out to be an hour one when i had to find my way back- good for me :)
 
Hey, if its not too late to join, I'd like to be a part of it.

I promise to:
1. Walk at least 20 minutes a day OR run around in the back garden with my dogs.
2. Once a craving sets in, drink a tall glass of water and wait 15 minutes; if that doesn't work, then a piece of fruit or veggies for a snack.
3. Have toast and an egg for breakfast OR toast and cereal (whatever is in the cupboard - the cereal is Muslix).
4. Lunches and suppers, I promise to keep my portions about the same as they are now. I've already cut these down about half of what I use to eat, so don't want to cut it down any more than that.
5. To update every Monday evening with amount of weight lost/gained (as I'm on holidays now, I won't get an official weigh in until July 31st).
6. To update Thursday evenings, mid way through week.
7. To help everyone in the group and offer suggestions if someone is down and out about their weight issues.

I'm in 100% and will give it my 110% best. Only thing I can't weigh in officially until the 31st, but my beginning weight we'll say is that from the 10th...200.1! Update on Monday of how I "think" I'm doing...

Just one more quick question...are we posting updates to this thread or emailing everyone in the group or posting a new thread?....

as long as u are in the team, motivating others and urself - weight is for urself to measure to see how u have done. But definately we will like to know if u lost any inches or have made any progress.
At the moment it seems everyone is posting here about their progress, so i guess that would be it.

My progress so far:
1)i have been walking atleast 35 mins a day- its my third day
2)eating breakfast as someone told me that if i skip breakfast, it means i am slowing my metabolism
3)i cut down my lunch but take a smallllll snack- one hot dog or one cookie with tea during supper
4)eating dinner as usual but using small portion of rice or one tortilla
so far------ no progress, not even one pound :( lets see how it goes.
 
We were into a healthy store a few days ago with all kinds of nutrition, information, books, pills (skipped THAT aisle) and such, and the woman was asking us about our diets...when we mentioned hot dogs, she near well dropped to the floor. She told us to CUT OUT the hot dogs....lots of fat or something. Now, I'm LOVE hot dogs, so I kinda stopped paying attention after she told us to cut them out. Don't know if that is an option for you...:)
 
wow, you ladies are doing much better at posting than I am. I have been doing good eating though. For the past 2 days I have had no slip ups, very good for me. I cant say that it took much effort though as the last 2 days I have hardley had time to think about eating. I want to keep up the motivation though. I am going to the beach in September, and want to feel comfortable walking around in a swimsuit! How great would it be to be able to walk around in a swimsuit and not worry about what others think! I cant wait. Right now that is a huge part of my motivations. Plus I think about why I let myself get to the weight I am now, and it was really just laziness. Eating that extra food all those years didny make me any happier, it did nothing for me except build up as fat over time and make me feel worse about myself. I want to be the real me. I just think that if I can loose the weight, I will get my selfesteem back and feel better about myself. that is what I am pushing for everyday! Reading your posts also motivates me, so keep up the good work.

myFirstOne - great job on eating breakfast, that meal is really hard for me too because Im usually not hungry in the morning. Do you think its because I eat too much for dinner? I usually eat half my daily calories at dinner, mostly because I dont have time to eat during the day. Is this really unhealthy?
