Anyone else have family members following workout/diet myths?

Mum and Pops both are in good shape, they never eat out, eat healthy and are relatively lean, however they do drink a good couple beers with each dinner, it doesn't seem to affect physique.

My girlfriend on the other hand, I could go on for days. She blames my weight loss being so much more rapid than her on the fact that I'm a guy and shes a girl. She also blames the reason she ate a bag of chips yesterday on stress, the reason she ate a box of cookies the day before that on her period, the reason she ate 2 giant hot pretzels the day before that because she had been so good for the last week she deserved a reward, the reason she ate a bag of goldfish the day before that because they are oven baked and just a little snack, the reason she drank a box of wine the day before that because she needed to unwind......

And the reason she didn't go to the gym today was because she was so busy, the reason she didn't go yesterday was because she was burnt from tanning the day before, the reason she didn't go the day before that was because she was going to go tanning instead, the reason she didn't go the day before that was because she walked all the way to the end of the mall to buy herself a pretzel so that should be good enough exercise, right? the reason she didn't go the day before that was because it was raining out and that made her lazy.......

I must admitt its as simple as, if you dont know you just dont know.

Until youve been educated about it your going to think bicep curls are the main thing to a workout and that higher reps, lower weight 'tone' you.

People also critisize the forum, like one of my mates think most people will be talking a load of sh1t, but he doesnt realise that theyre are proffessionals on here etc.

Anyway, Sheep for life.

She's 5'4 and weighs between 140 and 150lbs, so pretty standard size I suppose. Of course I'd like to see her eat healthier and get to the 130 - 140 range but who am I to want such things of somebody else.

:beerchug: heres to sheep! and shetland ponies :beerchug:

The operative word here is "girlfriend"
something that can easily be remedied. "Wife" on the other hand is a much more difficult and costly thing to fix.

some people...for those that are fairly self assured/reasonable, i think they get over the initial shock and treat it as a wake up call. for others with self esteem issues/tendency to blame the universe for their problems, well it wouldn't work.

also the key isn't for one to say "hey ******!" but rather "you need to lose some weight".

She is at the upper end of what is typically considered the "healthy" weight range, but if she does not exercise and eats a lot of junk food, she may have a higher than healthy body fat percentage, as well as being unhealthy in other ways.

Calling her fat will most definitely make her turn to food for comfort and she'll think "Well he already thinks I'm fat I might as well eat ****". Cook her healthy meals as surprise dinners and go on nice walks together, slowly she'll see the rush of adrenaline she gets from getting her body moving and things will fall into place!
