AMPing It Up

For Amp: September 23rd, 2007

Good afternoon AMP.....................

I extend a philosophical "friendship" hand to my "Brotha"......I understand you. You are my friend.

I want you to do well.......You are a fine young man.

==========================================================

Putting SPARK in your AMPS!

==========================================================
Live and learn my dear friend:

“Confront the dark parts of yourself, and work to banish them with illumination and forgiveness. Your willingness to wrestle with your demons will cause your angels to sing. Use the pain as fuel, as a reminder of your strength.”

August Wilson

==========================================================

Confront yourself, young man and be honest you WILL be rewarded:

“Confront the dark parts of yourself, and work to banish them with illumination and forgiveness. Your willingness to wrestle with your demons will cause your angels to sing. Use the pain as fuel, as a reminder of your strength.”

August Wilson

==========================================================

Amp flex your mind muscles!

“It takes more courage to reveal insecurities than to hide them, more strength to relate to people than to dominate them, more 'manhood' to abide by thought-out principles rather than blind reflex. Toughness is in the soul and spirit, not in muscles and an immature mind.”

Alex Karras

==========================================================

Face your fears young man:

“Each time we face our fear, we gain strength, courage, and confidence in the doing.”

(unknown)

==========================================================

Find your strength, it is TRUELY WITHIN YOU!

“Anyone can give up, it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength.”

(unknown)

==========================================================

Willing the AMP........!

“Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.”

Mahatma Gandhi

==========================================================

AMP DOES have the "determination to succeed"......I know and so do the others!

Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough.”

Og Mandino

==========================================================

I wish you well, my "Brotha". Think about you today.......HANG IN THERE KIDDO!

I hope the future bares weight to your goal you are longing for........

Best wishes

I'm an extremely light sleeper, I spend a lot of time falling a sleep, wake easily and such.

If I had a night with some annoying people keeping me up, and it started to get light, no way I'd be able to sleep, I'd be too hyped and the sunlight would ruin my sleep.

If I drink coffee, I can't sleep for the next 4 hours at least. Computer games, web forums, stuff like that I need to mentally cool down before I can sleep. If I watch tv in bed, I get hooked on the show and I'll watch it to the end, not feel sleepy at all, and be tempted to watch the next show too. Worry or stress makes me sleep like crap if I can even fall asleep. If I go to bed too early, I'll start thinking about stuff, and I won't stop so it takes me hours to sleep. Any sound during the night wakes me up too.

That's just how I am, I'm not high strung in general or anything, sleep just sort of evade me easily. I just know there are a lot of activities I should avoid before sleep. Reading is what I like best, it sort of takes your mind off the day and gets the pace down.

In the army we were bunking lots of guys to a room, and there was always someone coming home late, turning on the lights, having to clean their stuff, talking and so on. I slept with earbuds much of the time, and sometimes even those blindfold things you get on night flights (but they're very noticable and people tease you with them). If there's lots of noise there, I'd definately get some ear buds.

Insomnia can be a real problem and disease though. If you got that, you need a doctor, not just advice from a light sleeper.

Amp,

Truck on over to the infirmary at your university and see a medical professional. Unless you have a compound fracture with bone sticking out of your skin, you will probably only get to see a medical student, but he/she can still help you.

Your insomnia is something you need to address now. You can't study and function with 0 hours sleep. That is not healthy. As for the drinking, it sounds like you are getting that under control. Keep us posted.

Hey Guys,

I just woke up, but I felt I should post. I FELL ASLEEP! WOOOOO:yelrotflmao: I am so happy right now. I dont know if this is why, but yesterday I lowered my bed, because it was raised all the way up, and it may have subconsciously affected my sleep.
Regardless, now that I've slept I can finally get back to training which I have not done since thursday:confused: I will update later.

Thanks Chillen... Here is today's workout

Squat
3x10 145lbs

Bench
3x10 105lbs

Dips
3x9 bw

Rows
3x10

Lat pulldown
3x10 120lbs

Some thing for my calves
3x10

Superset
Preacher Curls, Tricep pulldown 3x10

I was a little tired still because I have a while to go before I fully catch up on sleep. I only ended up getting 7 hours, but it was better than any sleep I have gotten in the past week. I'm in the library right now getting some work done (well I'm procrastinating at the moment), but I hope everyone's day is going well.

So as far as life goes, sleeping has been great. I had a huge management test today and it sucked a lot. What I realized that really annoys me is that to gain weight off of eating unhealthy food would be so easy since most of it is so calorie dense. But eating a lot of healthy food is not that easy since its not that calorie dense for the most part except for peanut butter. I thought bulking would be a cinch, but I've actually not been hungry for the first time ever and have to make myself eat more. I've always had an insatiable appetite and now i find that with after a big breakfast and big lunch, im just not that hungry the rest of the day. Oh well. I think I had more to say but i forgot so I won't. Hope all is well.

Hey Amp, about the whole beer and drinking in social settings, I just wanted to say that I totally understand. I know it's extremely difficult at university too. There is a pretty big drinking culture amongst my friends, and I in fact love cold beers. It has been one of the hardest things to give up since I started training. But for me the training is more important and the lasting effects of the training outweigh the very SHORT-LIVED enjoyment of drinking. My solution has been to have soda water with a lime most times. Once a week or every other week I'll have a few beers and not worry or feel guilty about it. Best of luck to you in achieving your goals.

I'd like to start todays entry with a few words on how i feel right now.... hjkdfsdjkls djkd jklds

Just got back from the gym, and I don't feel like posting what I did, but I hit all the major muscle areas. The reason I started my post like that is because for some reason my stomach feels terrible right now. I did squats and then rdls and felt fine. And then I went to bench and my body did not want to bench, then I went to go to dips and every time I went down it felt like my chest was caving in on itself. So instead i did db incline, and I hurt my shoulder a little. Did some back exercises and those didnt feel great. So overall it was a very bad workout. When I was doing incline bench I felt a little like I was going to throw up but I kept going.

Anyway before my workout I played a game of flag football, where I didnt run too much. I went straight to the gym afterwards but in between had half a scoop of protein w/ water and then some gatorade to keep me going. This could be the cause of my upset stomach.

As far as since my last post goes, yesterday I drank quite a bit, but I don't really regret it because I had an awesome time. There was a huge concert at my school and I had an absolute blast. I'm thinking I might quit tae kwon do, because I'm not as enthusiastic as I was about it anymore. It was fun for a few weeks but I don't know how dedicated I will be to it.

Phil I'm glad to know you see where I'm coming from, and chillen stick with me man because I still want/need you there. Hope everything is going well for everyone else.

I feel the same way about the Gators and their spanking at the hands of Auburn... But, this was a bittersweet weekend; while the Gators' loss was bitter, my other alma mater, the University of South Florida, is ranked 6 (AP) and 9th (USA), higher than the Gators in the AP poll.

Checking in to see if all the electricity and voltage belongs to AMP.........

How is it hanging, Bro?!

Best regards,

I couldn't sleep the other night again so yesterday I bought a tempurpedic sleep mask which worked great and is very comfy. Lots of exams this week so things are kind of stressful. I havent seen improvement in my bench in a long time so I really want to get that going. Because of my knee I cannot squat or deadlift nearly low enough, but I have been making gains. Hopefully the doctor can help me out so I can get those going. Right now I am trying to figure out how to open a can of tuna without a can opener and it is not easy at all.

Word

They make "Flip Top" cans of tuna......see of you can some how get some of these. If not...purchase a $1.00 can opener......:eek: :)

Bare DOWN........."stessful" absolutely.......how much is "allowed" is up to you...........MIND CONTROL........AMP!..........DO IT!

Uh.......what was that......?.............

blah... I calculated my total calories for today so far and its only at around 2000, which is quite annoying. I'm out of whey protein so my last meal will probably be peanut butter on rice cakes or something of the nature, or maybe just some peanut butter and milk. I need to get so many more calories though and I am just so far away i dont really see it being possible. I'm stuffed right now from dinner, and if i stuff myself too soon before bed I won't be able to fall asleep.

bummer:(

18 yrs old, 129lbs, 5 foot 7.

What is your weight now?

Elaborate on your "gaines" in the muscle department. How much of an impact has happened since you began your log in relation to your training and dieting........I think its time for a review.
