--Perfect in time for Valentine's Day :beating:

:waving: It's me!

Alta818, LovelyLadyHumps and I had a powwow yesterday and decided that our merriment and Baccian celebratory tendencies

have accrued too many "empty" calories in our lives and will sabotage our current weight loss efforts. We're not drunks, trust me (LOL), we just need some support in keeping off the sauce. Drinking alcohol moderately is EXCELLENT for health, trust me, I'm in the wine industry ;) But when dieting, it uses up allotted calories that can be replaced with nutritious snacks, instead--and if we get carried away, it can lower inhibitions (AKA cause "drunk munchies") and we end up taking in WAY more calories than we planned!

So if you have occasional bouts of dipsomania and need some more poor, dry fools to cry with about not having a delicious beer, glass of wine, or glass of champagne--join us! :grouphug:

I was thinking that maybe we could also allow ourselves a "cheat drink" in the name of health! LOL Maybe like, one portion a week? One 12 oz beer, 1 5oz glass of wine, or something??? Let me know.

For added motivation I'm including info of calories in drinks from

Top 5 worst drinks:
1. Margarita in a pint glass (2 oz. tequila, 2 oz. margarita/sour mix, 1 oz. triple sec, lime juice, 1 tsp. sugar) - 550 calories (11)
2. Mudslide (1.5 oz. coffee liqueur, 1.5 oz. Irish cream, 1.5 oz. vodka) - 417 calories (8.5)
3. Long Island Ice Tea (1 oz. vodka, gin, rum, tequila, and triple sec, 2 oz. sour mix, splash of cola) - 380 calories (8)
4. White Russian (1.5 oz. vodka, 1.5 oz. coffee liqueur, 1.5 oz. cream) - 320 calories (6.5)
5. Piña Colada (1.5 oz. rum, 1.5 oz. coconut cream, 3 oz. pineapple juice) - 293 calories (6)

Top 5 best drinks:
1. Rum and Diet Coke (1 oz. rum) - 65 calories (1.5)
Tip: Use diet sodas as mixers, such as gin and diet tonic, diet 7Up and Seagrams 7, diet ginger ale and Jack Daniels, and so on.
2. Vodka and Soda (1 oz. vodka) - 65 calories (1.5)
Tip: Try this with flavored vodka, such as raspberry, vanilla, or mandarin.
3. White Wine Spritzer (4 oz. white wine topped with club soda) - 80 calories (2)
4. Bloody Mary (1 oz. vodka, 4 oz. tomato juice, dash of Tabasco and pepper) - 90 calories (2)
5. Light Beer - 100 calories (2)

Saturday I got DRUNK and it was odd because that happens very rarely as of last September, LOL! :smash: However, as of about December I started imbibing more than I had in months, and this weekend I realized I need to tone it down--so I'm bummed because I just bought a 6 pack of my favorite seasonal ale, 2 Below, and have 4 in the fridge. Not to mention my best girl friend LOVES to drink, and my boyfriend, although not a drinker, loves sparkling wine as much as I do as is ALWAYS down :( But I'll be fine! I've quit for short periods before, I can do it again, and I have tips to help others, too :grouphug:

I definitely plan on getting tipsy on Valentine's Day!!!! :beerchug: Hell yes!

As of yesterday I haven't had a drop. SO here goes....

I may try to not drink... but I may also lose my mind so...
After a day of cooking cleaning and sreaming kids from 7 am to 8 pm... its hard to not want to lol

this is very dissapointing to me... one of my favourite sins just got a whole lot more sinful... And not in a enjoyable way either...
Well at least I'm not following the devil blind folded anymore... Now i'll have to follow him with my eyes wide open :reddevil:

This also taught me that FAT TIRE Ale is truly that--most beers are around 150 calories per 12 oz, but Fat Tire is 300 calories per 12 oz!!! :eek2: And remember folks, on tap-pint glasses are 16 oz......

So if you order a pint of Fat Tire on tap, you're drinking 400 calories....that's a small, satisfying meal right there!

While you can find research to support any claim - I've seen a lot of research that says Rum and diet Coke or anything and diet coke is one ofthe worst choices a person can make... because some people will think that since the mixer is diet... they can have more of it - and will drink more and get drunker -and when they are drunker -that's when the bad food choices come in.

I'd much rather have one ice cold grey goose... or single malt scotch... or a guiness. one guinness is far more satisfying than 3 lower calorie pee colored beers...

and if you're out... very few bartenders will make your drink with one ounce... they tend to get a little heavy handed with the pour... 3 ounces of wine isn't much at all... it's barely a sip :)

Yes, when I drink beer, I never order light beer or even wheat beer because I prefer stouts and porters. I just understand that I'm drinking a lot of calories.

But I still don't order Fat Tire :p It doesn't taste good enough for me to be worth it.

The real reason is it screws up my blood glucose :D

Well, there is that.

When I had my bloodwork done for the insurance company, I was shocked to learn my blood glucose is fine. I've done a lot of drinking and sugar-eating in my day! But then, I'm only 26. So it's best for me to be careful.....although I understand the hereditary nature of it all.

Despite the fact alcohol can be broken down into glucose, it actually inhibits the liver's ability to release of glycogen stores, which isn't good for us Type 1 Diabetics because we can go hypoglycemic quite quickly :willy_nilly:

So I figure I might as well not even bother ;)

eek i had no idea margaritas were THAT bad for u......that's one of my favorite drinks....always assumed it was bad, but not that bad!!!!!

...speaking of Sober.....I'm having a SHITTY emotional day....and UGGGH
fuckn feelings...and I want HAPPY HOUR....though I'm at work, and I'm not going to do it...but STILLLLL I want a Freakkkin DRINK....actually a SPARKS!!! :(

...sometimes I feel that my mind, just wants to resort to Sparks because it thinks its a solution to things when really ....IT IS NOT.....and mind you ....I don't get drunk off Sparks...so it's not getting drunk that I'm after either....
....I think its just the fact that I wish I could buy a drink that resolves issues in sips.......:(

i know...that's dumb...and I am trying to focus this on positive actions instead...

I was getting mentally weak, as this is still DAY ONE....and I needed the support!
