Day 12...

Thanks Beemss-- you're rockin' it too!

Today was...corporate nite. No workout. Shmoozing with the boss. Couple drinks and a good steak. Brought home desert to share with the wife. All in all, a good night (in spite of what the diet stats will paint).

Tomorrow...will try to get a run in. Need a good sweat--

Day 13...

Today sucked for activity. Wanted to get a run in, but ended up waiting for a contractor that never showed and spent the rest of the time working. Boot camp in the morning though so that should help--

Really need a good sweat--

Day 14...

Today was much better. Got up tired, but hauled the family to the fitness center and did boot camp. Got a good sweat on, then packed up and got the kids to their swim lessons. Back to the house for a quick shower, then off to drop my son at a birthday party (and grocery shopping for me).

Met up with some friends at a local park for a picnic and had some awesome wraps, good walk part way around the lake, then some fun frisbee playing while the kids dug in the sand. Long day, but a lot of fun--good release for a somewhat crappy week. Tomorrow...tennis and yard work (in that order)...

Day 15...

Today was Good. Got up and played tennis for about an hour, but that ended up being the majority of my fun activity. The rest of the day was a little rest and a housework...and hanging out with my 4 year old daughter which is always an adventure.

Boring night, but back to the office for me tomorrow (blech...). Tomorrow night: boot camp. Debating on if I should drop the boot camp class and go with a FBW in it's place (and I'd welcome any comments/suggestions if you happen to be keeping up with my journal). My thought was I could pick up my cardio on my off days since I only get the gym 3 days a week and don't have weights at home.

Your diligence will get you the results you want. I'd suggest ditching the machines and go with free weights (except for cable machines needed for certain exercises). If you're looking for a full body routine, check out The New Rules of Lifting, by Lou Schuler and Alwyn Cosgrove. I'm nearing the end of the Break-In workout now and have been quite pleased with the results.

Thanks! I took the first step tonight and went ahead and cancelled the summer boot camp. Thanks for the tip on the book-- I'm looking forward to the change up, but a little leary of trying the free weights and looking like an ass. But then again, I've looked like an ass before so better to give it a try then just continue to play it safe on the machines.

Day 16...

Another good day-- tired as all get out (didn't get to bed until about 3 AM), but still had a good work out with boot camp. Another 2 classes (or so) and the regular boot camp will be done. As I mentioned above, I'm going to put together a full body workout I can do at least two, but hopefully three days a week. I'll alternate with some kind of cardio.

So I'll do some research on a workout and post sometime in the next week for a friendly critique (or just brutally honest feedback...I can take it). And just to recap my goals, I'm really trying to lost the pudge and build some arms/shoulders/upper body. I've read enough to know I can't really target "parts" and get the results I'm hoping for which is why the FBW. And no, I won't neglect my legs/gluts entirely...would like to end up looking balanced. So there it is...

Day 17...

Good day-- still tired, but managed some good sleep last night. No work out tonight (wife's night at the gym) so I hung out with the kids, then chatted with the wife when she got home. She went to bed and I started doing "searches" on FBW and Full Body Workouts and got way too many hits here. Not that I won't put in the effort, but is there a way to narrow it down? Part of my problem is I'm not sure what all the exercises really are--

So I'll look in to buying The New Rules of Lifting, by Lou Schuler and Alwyn Cosgrove this weekend and try to post a proposed workout for comment early next week. I still have a week of boot camp left so that should work out for timing.

For now, gott get some sleep--is the diet looking better for cutting? Most of my carbs are coming from fruits/veggies and not bread. Does that make a difference?

NROL already has workouts laid out in it... You'll most likely want to start with the Break-In as it will help get you ready for the rest of the workouts in the book. (I know I sure needed to start there, and am happy with the results so far.)

Thanks stingo-- I will pick up the book when I'm out with my son on Friday ("graduates" from kindergarten).

I'm really anxious to see results-- and I need to stay off the scales (got on this morning and saw an increase...very discouraging).

Cool - will be interested to hear your experience. Incidentally, I do the warmup exercises first before each workout - walking lunge w/twists, lateral lunge with reach, t pushups, inchworms, ball bridge and russian twists.

Day 18...

Boot camp tonight-- good session even though it was held in the raquetball court (t-storms outside). Lots of pushups, planks, sprints, crunches, jump-jacks (reg and cross-over) and squats. Got a good sweat, but am looking forward to changing up the routine to weights in the next week or so.

I think I'm finally getting the diet down-- just in time to "blow it" on a night out without the kids on Friday. Still, I've got the ratios pretty set and I think the diet's about as clean as I can get it (and still keep some sanity).

Nice percentages - just try not to get too obsessed with them. Cheat meals are good in that they'll help you feel that you're not depriving yourself, and it will throw the body a curve.

Good point-- and I do tend to get obsessive/compulsive. I just want to make the clean eating a habit and the cheats a much lesser occurance. I need to be somewhat obsessed to make sure I don't lose sight of my goals (since I'm over-eager to start seeing results).

I'm not a patient man sometimes...

there ya go...!!! get radical,,, how about 2 containers of magnesiunm citrate and a gallon of water,,, that's good for 3-5 lbs lost in one day,.,..... hahahahaha I will probably get the jackass of the day award for that great advice, but it also cleans the colon out real good too, and much easier on you that epson salt. but a 2 tble spoon of that will getter done too.

Great advice there FF! If I wanted to spend the majority of my day sitting on the crapper, heh heh

I'm not that impatient, but now I understand how you lost 6 pounds in the last week. :D

Day 19...

Nothing tonight (except some take home work...). Tomorrow will likely be a big cheat day. Taking the boy to see Fantastic Four and then going to dinner with another couple.

However...during the day I did get in 150 push-ups. Thanks for the challenge FlyingFree...you're a true effer.
