good luck man got some work to do huh

Jake, how old are you?

Look at it this way: you're got a great starting point. Not much fat, just skin and bones, and some muscle that needs to be coaxed out!

You look real young, so you may find it a little hard to bulk up quick, but hit the gym hard, eat good, and you'll do great!

Good luck man!

Pawtucket Red Sox? You're a Rhode Islander???!!!

see I see it differently, you gotta have a good foundation I believe, and 15 is young to be pushing your body hard.. I played rugby throughout highschool, and I was 5'11" 150, my first concern was getting weight at any cost, I gained 50lbs in 3 years with every year focusing on running, long story short I became a massive beast at 18

5'11" 210, then I hit the gym hard and toned down to 180

:p

get some fat in you, if I were to hit you know id TKO you :p..

GAIN WEIGHT :)

though your heavier then my 19yr old bro who is 5'10" 125lbs :)

Really man I'd advise talking to your coach. Hopefully he is a reasonable guy who knows what he's doing and can give you some great advice.

Not saying 15 is too young for serious training (though I don't really know) but I started heavy weight training at 13 and found it was a huge mistake. Had a chance to talk to my doctor about it back then and he told me about all kinds of problems I could cause; messing up growth plates and the normal puberty cycle with hormones and all that. I cut down on the weight training a fair bit and looked more into nutrition, martial arts, and swimming. I returned heavily to lifting around 17.

Just my anecdotal advice but if I were you I'd talk to someone who is knowledgeable about proper training at your age before you set the goal to be squatting 400 lbs. within 6 months or something ;) .

Best of luck to you bro and remember at 15, hormones are firing through your system like swarms of pissed off hornets so you got that going for you however you decide to reach your goals  .

ive read and heard that the only way to mess up your growth plates is by lifting extremly large amounts of weights that you cant handle. for mostly all my excersises im doing 3-4 sets 0f 8-15 reps. i dont feel as if im over traning myself either unless you cant feel if your overtraining yourself. i take a day off every 3 days, and my workouts are split into upper lower body compound excersises. out of curiosity what are symptoms of over training

Cool man, just wanted to get that idea out there but it sounds like you've already looked in to it all. As far as over training, all I know is you feel like crap generally and your gains will cease. That's a pretty good indicator if you are. I've also heard your resting heart rate will start going up, if you check it daily that could be a signal too.

Sounds like you're on the ball though, just a matter of time, hard work, and solid nutrition. Maybe some supplements? Weight gainer, protein shakes maybe?

yeah im taking protein shakes right after my workout. i looked into the weight gainer at one time but i heard its crap. my current workout routine makes me feel great , alot more than previous workouts i had tried. ive improved 15 pounds in my bench and around 10 pounds in my squat

Nonsense, I know bodybuilders that have been training since they were 12 and are extremely ripped now.

With proper guidance he really doesn't have to worry about when he should start pushing his body hard.

I wouldn't advice doing a lot of back isolation exercises at your age though, but your gym coaches can probably give you more advice on that subject.

April 07-Its been about a month now, here are some progress pics. Im at 145 lbs now. I havn't devolped much "visualy" yet, except maybe in my biceps. I think ive just filled out a little bit. Strength wise i have gone way up though.

You haven't developed much "visually" yet?? Do you wear glasses? Put 'em on, man!!!! :D Your neck and traps have moved along pretty damned well. Looks like excellent progress all around. Keep up the excellent work.

Just curious, what are you doing for workouts?

You are doing well. Here are some more thoughts.

You can train as hard as you want. In town here there is a girl who benches 250, squats 400, and deads 450. She is only 15.

Yes Find the proper guidance.

Make sure that your ARE training back like crazy. A good motto is, "When in doubt, Train more back."

Had a chance to talk to my doctor about it back then and he told me about all kinds of problems I could cause; messing up growth plates and the normal puberty cycle with hormones and all that.

1. Doctors don't know anything about training.

2. You will not close your growth plates.

3. The only thing that will happen with hormones is that you could produce more than you would without training. That is always good. The Puberty age is a great time to start training and potentially increase you natural test, and Gh levels.

Also,

It is pretty hard to overtrain when you are in your mid teens. The most important thing is making sure that you find someone to watch you train, make sure that you form is good. Your best bet is to find good training partners, and a good coach / mentor type person. This will help you make more gains than anything else right now.

A good rule of thumb on form is, "No matter what, your form is not good enough and needs to improve."

and

"The people you train with should be correcting / commenting on form every set. You should do the same for them." or "Technique needs constant reminders."

Hope this helps.

wow out of nowhere this thread got resurected. thanks for all the great comments/advice guys. It is really pleasing and ensuring to hear. I guess since its been another month ill put up so new pics. Ijust started doing a fullbody workout that consists of this

The fact that you are already squatting 250 is pretty impressive. Once you start to really bulk (again, will take some time due to your age and body changes), you should be amazing!
Say, how are the Paw Sox doing this year anyways??
