Sport your scoop on 1% chocolate milk

what do you guys think?

I drink quite a bit of this stuff recently, for a protein boost and to mix with my protein. I know it has more sugar than regular, but it taste so damn good. If you guys think it is bad because of the sugar, I will stop drinking it.

I drink about 2 cups a day for the past week.

If I tell you to send me some money will you do that to? :newangel:

Drink it around workout time. I have found a nice milk called Calorie Countdown. Look at your grocery store for it. You'll be surprised by the calories and sugar level.

I drink nofat choc milk 1/2 gallon PWO, best PWO drink hands down. I seriously have noticed the most muscle growth with this.

well one cup if im not mistaken is 28g carbs and 9g protein

so one litre is 36g protein and 112g carbs

half gallon would be 1.75 litre

so.....63g protein and 196g carb for the average half gallon of chocolate milk hehe not bad if you ask me.

so mreik you dont use whey powder at all?

Not lately, I haven't need to.. I've planned my meals enough to make my protein quota everyday.

On a side note, drinking 1/2 gallon of choc. milk isn't for everyone.. And it was very hard for me to work a diet around that. Keeping that in mind, my PWO has ~85% of my carbs for the day.

There was a study at Indiana U that showed chocolate milk outperformed many "sports drinks" for recovery.

I drink a lot of milk, but not chocolate milk. There are a lot of carbs in the milk itself

I drink about 1/2 gallon a day, but not all at once

How about a fourth a gallon of milk and a scoop of chocolate whey? That'd probably be more manageable for average guys like me..?

I didn't know that many grams of protein/carbs were beneficial for post workout.

What are the general numbers for optimal protein/carbs post workout?

There are some really interesting & legit studies on why adult humans should NOT drink cow milk. Not just the massive amounts of antibiotics used in production, but for it's nutritional components....eh, who knows.

How about an alternative?

VitaminShoppe (and other sources) have a whey protein powder made by "ON", one flavor is DOUBLE CHOCOLATE and it rocks! We're not talking some watered-down strange-tasting chalk, this stuff is so good even my kids unsuspectingly drink it down as if it was made by Nestle's!!! :D

I mix half-water, half lite soy milk and 1.5 scoops of the protein powder...it'll give you a really nice & tasty chocolate fix for surprisingly few calories. Wanna get fancy, add a nice taste with a supplement that is suggested to help regulate blood-sugar level: Sprinkle-in some cinnamon (1/4-teaspoon+) and it's really great!!!!!!! Perhaps a bit of blended banana or some blueberries...get some antioxidants & potassium going too. It's all good!!!!

I get some funny looks at Costco with 6 gallons of milk in my cart.:D
