wrist pain from upright rows?

the title explains it all, i seem to have reached a limit to how much i can lift with upright rows because my wrists dont seem to be strong enough to support the weight. i mean i finish them but afterwards they are sore in a 'whatwereyouthinking' kind of way

ive been steadily progressing over the past several months and its kind of bumming me out to not be able to go heavier on one of my favorite exercises. does anyone know of a substitute exercise that would hit the traps as hard?

Ditch the exercise, I really don't like uprights.

I love upright rows. You may find your wrists hurt cos ur just lifting too high.
When doing the exercise you should only be lifting up to your sternum. Any higher and you may find that you begin to arch your back.

yeah this is probably what it is, i go all the way up to my chin. and thats where it hurts the most so i'll try it to sternum. ty!

sorry to revive an old thread but i still have trouble with upright rows in new rules' hypertrophy I.

could i throw in lateral raises as the superset with close grip presses, then just throw in some pull ups to make sure i get the lats done?

thanks

If an exercise is causing pain whilst doing it, ditch it and find an alternative
