Workout

Is there anyway one could replace the deadlifts in this routine? I understand deadlifts are a fantastic compound exercise but performing this exericse could spark an old injury. So I was wondering if there is anything I could replace it with?

Sure. What's your injury?

Sorry for my late reply.

Herniated disc . I can perform squats(carefully), leg presses, leg curls, leg extensions, and even moderate weighted lower back extensions.

Any advice or opinions would be welcomed. Thanks

Pretty much anything that calls on your hamstrings will suffice. I am partial to compound movements, but even that isn't necessary.

Thank you for a very informative thread. Just an opinion..I thinkk weight really affects strength. The more heavy you are the less strength you have since your body is too heavy to carry..I dont know if I made it correct..

I think I know what you mean. When I weighed 275, I could barely pick myself up off the floor, whereas now I can pick myself up, plus some additional weight. On the other hand, I probably could not pick myself up, plus 96 pounds, so in that sense, I'm not as strong as I was.

I would prefer to share you an amazing source which contains

Great Info.
Do you think it is best to do cardio after the weight lifting or in the beginning?

Generally weight lifting first unless you're specifically training for a sport that needs cardio. I.e. if it's more important to you to be a faster runner than to get stronger, do your cardio/running first. Otherwise you'll be tired from lifting and won't run as well.

By the same token, if you do cardio before lifting you'll be tired from the cardio and won't be able to lift as heavy/make as good progress.

So it's all about which is more important to you.

Hi everyone. I would agree that the experiences shared in this forum is really informative. Personally, I have tried to do gym work out 6 months after I gave birth. Unfortunately, I seem to fail on the discipline of following the routines. Good thing I have a friend who does biking on a weekend, and encouraged me to try going with her. Since I have a bike given by my uncle two years ago I decided to join her weekend biking session with her group. It was fun and somehow I feel like I losing some pounds. I still have a long way to go though, but the biking thing just help me so well :)

treadmill

Treadmill is effective in burning the unwanted fat, because it gets your heart rate going. When the heart rate increases-your body is making use of fat or calories to keep moving. Be careful, and increase the speed gradually.

Note down your target heart rate- to know your heart rate, minus your age from 220. Now multiply this number by 0.6 and 0.9. The number you will get is the target heart rate you should look for. The best possible option is to buy a heart rate monitor which you can wear when using the treadmill or during other exercises.
