Will This Help?

I finally decided to join the forum after reading for a couple of weeks. I just started working out. My goal is to have that Skinny Toned look with a little muscle. I started taking creatine and was wondering if that will effect my body fat % which is 7.6? I wanna keep my body fat fairly low so I can have defined abs. Also, will running help at all when I'm trying to get toned and add on a little muscle?
Thanks

creatine doesn't affect bodyfat.
you might look soft due to creatine's side effect of water retention, but its JUST water.

toning = fat loss
you can't shed fat and add muscle.
being 'toned' means you had muscle already, and you lost fat, so now the muscle is more visible.

if you didn't have enough muscle, you look scrawny instead of toned.

I don't really understand, so are you skinny and therefore are at 7.6% BF or do you already have muscle and at 7.6%? If you're skinny then there is nothing to really tone, you need to build the muscle first before you tone done.

It takes a very long time to build muscle and keep your BF% really low at the same time, it doesn't really make sense either because to gain muscle you need to eat a surplus, while to lose weight or keep at the same BF% you eat a deficit or maintenance level.

id cut out running for the time being, id concentrate on weight training, and eATing massive amounts of high protein , low fat food, until u reach ur desired muscle structure. By that time ur bf% will be a bit higher, and thats when its time to run and eat light until u cut it back down .

So what everyone is prety much saying just do the wieght training until I get the muscles and then start running? I'f I'm not running and just doing wieghts after a while will I be able to see the definition I want? I wanna be pretty defined in the upper body but still have a 6 pack and whenever I read about getting ab's it always says to do cardio like running. I'm worried if I get the muscles I won't have the 6 pack? I wanna have a body like Usher, really great ab's and a toned upper body thats hella defined but not to big.

Yes.

Definition as in.. tone? Then no. More mass is what you're going to get, cutting is for definition and tone.

1. Bulk
2. Cut

When you're bulking you will gain body fat which means your abs will be less visible, but once you cut you will be able to see them again and also have the muscle you just built.

its easier , for me and i think most ppl, to do one thing at a time. Like first gain the muscle u want, then cut out the fat. Rather than try to put on a lil bit of muscle at a time, while still staying very lean.

I dont know ur size, but prolly wanna put on like 20 pounds or so, but with that 20 pounds ur gonna be puttin on some fat with it, thats just the way it works. So once u gained around 15 pounds of lean mass, then u start running and eatting a bit less, and of course still maintain weight lifting at least 3 times a week. Having the proper diet , cardio, and weight training it should be no problem for u to drop the lil bit of fat u put on during the bulking stage. So basically once u have a decent build , then u can cut away weight and have ur abs back. Its nearly impossible to do a good bulk and keep abs :)

Bulk- Weight training 3 - 5 days a week. Eating at least 500 more calories a day , then u normally do ( 5 - 6 times a day, small meals) So if u eat 2000 calories a day, make it 2500, u should be able to put on 2 lbs a week. All clean foods, high protein, low fat, ( tuna, chicken , turkey, fish, oatmeal, skim milk, protein shakes/bars etc......

cut-weight training 3 -5 days a week, cardio 3-4 times a week. Whatever ur current diet is at the time, drop the calories by 500 per day. Maintain a clean diet. Still eat 5 - 6 times a day. Cardio can be anything, jump rope, running, sports, rollerblading, etc. try to get in at least 40 mintues per session. u should be able to loose 1 - 2 pounds a week, if ur not loosing that much, ur eating too much, and u should lower the count by 250 calories, if ur loosing more than that, ur eating too little and ur body is burning up ur hard earned muscle for energy.

good luck to u!

Hmm, you sure 2 lbs a week is a safe amount? I thought 2 lbs a week puts a risk of gaining too much fat and only so much muscle. Any input on this?

1 - 2 pounds a week aint bad, ofcourse at the end of the bulk , ur gonna have some fat to cut , but its easier to cut a lil bit of fat off, then it is to put on 15 pounds of muscle .

Just gotta make sure ur weight is slowing goin up every week, its nearly impossible to say, that u put on a solid 2 pounds in a week, and know for sure, i mean u can take a long pee and be 2lbs lighter hehe.

but u just got make sure ur weight is increasin slowly every week , so around 1 - 2 pounds is good i think.

Oh, okay I see what you're saying. I've been looking at around a 1 lb increase weekly just to make sure there's gradual increase and not too much fat increase, but I can see why you would consider 1 - 2 lbs not being to bad.

lol.

Thanks for all of the replies. I'm 17 and I weigh 135-140 pounds and am 5'8". I've got a good build, and have pretty wide shoulders. I just wanna get really ripped ab's with a little more muscle to my arms and chest and back. There isn't that much muscle there now gaining some would be great.
