Why did you chose your forum name/avatar?

Oh! One day we're sitting in grammar and usage class. Dr. Carroll writes the word "cheese sandwich" on the board. She asks what part of speech cheese is. We almost all in unison reply that cheese is an adjective because it's describing what type of sandwich it is.

She then lets out this horribly evil laughter (okay, not really). She then informs us that it doesn't matter if cheese is by itself or between two pieces of bread is still a noun. It finally clicked that nouns can modify nouns and therefore not all modifying noun words are adjectives.

The true definition of a noun is anything you can make plural or possessive and also fitting within the noun paradigm. I think this is fun stuff. I kinda' miss working in an English classroom setting since I teach PE.

I was in jump 90 something and had a tangled canopy. I struggled with it much longer than I should have and ended up in a violent spin. When I finally cut it away, and thru my reserve it popped and inflated I landed on the ground.

since that day Feb 23, 1997, I have been "Flyin Free" I do not concern myself with bonding types of things. Not even my wife and children.

We have accepted death and the temporary nature of all things.

Thus, I have found life, and my connectiedness to all things.

I have the date tatood down the front of my chin, with a tail on bottom (all land animals) and crustation on top (all sea Creatures) and Flyin Free aroound the ankle.

My avatar is me in one of my first full 30 second sit fly! It is the BASE position for Free Flyers (a skydive discipline)

My username was going to be the name of my brother's band a long while back. Little did I know then that it had a sort of sexual reference and it just stuck.

My avatar is just a random cat with some brew and a remote :D

The avatar, is the one I use as my alter ego on one of my websites. When I started getting into web design my friends started calling me "The Internet Surgeon."

One day I got an email from a friend who found a fitting image of "The Internet Surgeon"
 
My username is the last name of a character in a series of books - Stephen King's The Dark Tower.

Deschain (pronounced deh-shane to the best of my knowledge, I haven't exactly had the chance to ask Mr. King) is the last name of the main character, Roland Deschain. This series of books are my favorite, and I always thought the name was neat, so even though I'm a girl, that's my username.

I found my avatar on some website and thought it was pretty. Nothing too special there.
 
Stingo is one of the three main characters in Sophie's Choice (the book or the film). I identified with the character and so chose the name for my online persona. And my avatar is me.

i remember watching oprah and having a pro skydiver survive a free fall of like a couple miles into canopy, the video of it was crazy..

It doesn't make any sense but I decided to just use it one whatever I'm doing. I might change my username here.

I was in the math club (i know nerd, but i managed to get a job as an architectural engineer at 18) now i am in the army. the pic is the one i took the day i joined.
 
Well basically mines just my school email login name "woodt" because its the first four letters of my surname and the first letter of my name. So Tim Wood****. Yeah. hehehe
