Which weight-loss-group is the best

Actually, I've only ever heard good things about weight-watchers from people I know. My older sister just had her secound baby and both times used weight-watchers and dropped all the weight off right away. There was also this woman at my mom's work who use to weigh over 300 pounds and using weight-waters she down to about 190-something so far. I suppose though it just depends on what works for you, which is tru of any form of dieting.

I can only agree to that one. Everybody should use the method that they are most comfortable with.

Hi - I'm actually a "lifetime" member of Weight Watchers - Back in 1990 I'd joined and lost to my goal weight - I found the diet format they used at the time flexible and understandable. They keep changing the format - there have been several iterations and now they are using "points" to help account for food intake. Anyway, I found the meetings helpful during weight loss, but during maintenance less so. Everything is geared to losing weight, and not maintaining it. The maintenance period was too short, too. Of course that could all have changed in 14 years, but a lot of people need the face to face contact for the motivation. Although this forum is not "face-to-face" it provides a community to share concerns. :)

Maybe you need to forget about looking at the scales for a while and just concentrate on the healthy eating & exercising part of things.

When I started working out, about 7 months ago, in the first 2 weeks, I lost 5kg's or 11lbs, and since then the scales have stayed the same. I work out almost everyday at the gym (2 weight training sessions & the rest classes), and eat healthy.

But what I have noticed is that I fit into clothes that I never used to fit into, and like you I'm sitting in between a size 12/14. Out of frustration, I have stopped looking at the scales, and since realised not everything is in the scales, it's in how you look and feel. :)

Like I said not looking at the scale helps alot. I said that I was not going to look at the scale for 3 weeks, but I caved and looked...Like everyday this week. It looks like I am not making any progress, but I know that I am. I work out 5-6 times a week, with 2-3 days for weight training on different areas each time. But I can tell you one thing...My clothes look so much better...I feel like super skinny, but the scale does not change..Ahh well...and I eat healthy....But I cheat once a week or maybe twice a week, but very small portions of what I really want.

I have bad weeks when I look at the scales and feel kinda crappy, but then I think "Well hey, clothes that didn't fit me - fit me now, so I must be doing something right!"

Alot of fitness & diet sites say that you should have one cheat day/meal a week, I started doing this, and as the weeks & months went on, I felt less of a need to "cheat". And now it's not a case of having a specified time/day/month that I will cheat, it's just every now and then that I have something that I wouldn't normally have.

I'm obsessed with the scale too, but my overall goal (aside from losing 10kg) is to fit into size 10 clothes again. I used to be size 7! but I don't think I will ever get back to that again, so I am aiming for size 10, and if that works, then maybe size 8. I'm more concerned about clothing size really, but it sure looks nice on the scales, it's almost like it is more measureable and concrete that way. I am currently at size 12-14. I am doing WW too, sort of. I have signed up for the No Count plan. Similer to the core plan in USA. I have done the points before and did lose weight, but I had trouble accepting the fact that I couldn't just eat chocolate and junk and lose weight.

reply to - which is best support group..

I have tried everything imagineable for weight loss in all my years and nothing worked. Programs all want big $$ and face it, we can't all afford such nonsense, especially when you quit the program and gain all the GRRR weight back.
Last year I joined up with the support group called the weight loss wellness circle, which i guess is relatively new to most but i found they were the only place that really got me to get real about my weight. I am doing really well on the program. They don't make you pay for food or supplements, books, etc and they are affordable. (only $50 a year). They have a really cool website too where you can manage your weight loss plus info coming out my wazoo. I hang out there a lot because i learn so much about myself and why i have issues with my weight. It's sort of like all the other programs we know like ww and tops etc but more....they go beyond and help with so much more and they're cheaper too.

Anyhow i found it to be one of the best places and because its so new, i was able to get a lot of one on one time from the weight loss coaches.

I finally feel like i got hold of my weight and have been losing week after week and feel great.

Their website is wwcircle.com in case you wanted to see it.

I lost 40lbs so far since the summer.

depends on the supporters

I joined Weight watchers and found that there weren't many people close to my "age". I felt uncomfortable and my coach seemed energetic but not genuine, I got phony vibes from her. I was hoping to meet people in their 20's but I didn't. The middle aged women were nice too, and the much older women too but it just wasn't the right spot for me. I find lots of support here on the boards.
