Hi

I have started doing zumba dances ( or light exercise ), in my bedroom, behind closed doors with my ipod speakers blasting :D:D

zumba is great - I do tons of zumba...

LOL I have 2 treadmills (a Tunturi T60 which is my main treadmill and a Reebok I-run which I had at my parents house for when we stayed for weekends before we moved back in with them due to their age) and lots of exercise dvds. I cannot say that I use them too much though - but they are there...

I am always playing music around the house that we dance to at zumba and salsa and having a bit dance for fun to it... if I'm honest - I do so many zumba and salsa formal classes and social dancing that I don't do too much that I would class as exercise round the house though. This week has been a short week due to the bank holiday - but last week I did 7 zumba classes and I do at least 6 salsa classes a week (last week I did 8)...

Loujo - what are your favourite zumba tracks?

Hi..I like anything fast, dancey, like Britney , Kylie or madonna stuff..80's and 90's stuff is excellent too

Here are two tracks from my zumba class that are fun to dance to

I actually do a program called t-25. It's only 25 minutes a day for those like myself who don't have much time. Believe me u get all the workout u need

Actually I do!!

You don't get 'all the workout you need' in 25 minutes. Unless you're about 400 lbs and at the start of your weight loss journey, 25 minutes is not going to cut it. Later on, not even 25 minutes of HIIT would be sustainably enough. However, after a quick check, I noticed it's one of those 'Pay here and I'll sell you the secrets to fast weight loss' programs, which aren't sustainable and only designed to make the 'creator' some quick bucks. That explains it.

One of the funnest in home exercise would probably be zumba and punching bag. They both involve playing music so the workouts fly by fast.

Assuming you don't have a knee problem, you can try jumping rope. It can be done virtually anywhere.

You can also look for workout routines on Youtube, there are plenty.

As a last resort, you can try mixing some common bodyweight exercises, such as burpees, push ups, mountain climbers, or squats. You can mix them up and make a pyramidal workout, for instance;

You can try doing 1 jumping jack and then go to the ground and do 1 push-up, then 2 jumping jacks > 2 push ups, etc.

Other thing you can try is doing a prisoner squat (Squat with hands behind the head). So you do 1, wait 5 seconds, then you do 2, wait five seconds, you do 3, etc.

Those are just ideas (Again, assuming you don't have knee problems), but if you try them please make sure you do it carefully and you keep a good form (E.g: When you do a squat, keep your back straight and make sure your knees don't go past your toes).

Good form is important to prevent injury. You may also want to warm up before you jump into the exercise. (Note: Don't do static stretches as warm up, read this article)

If you have knee problems, stay away from jumping and specially HIIT that includes jumping. Go to Youtube and search for "low impact workout/exercise/etc"

I have a treadmill, spinner bike, weight kit, barbells, dumbbells, kettle bells and bench. It pretty much lets me do any routine I could do at a full gym.

But I don't have a lot of room indoors so I have to be careful I don't damage floors, ceilings and walls! :smash::smash::smash:

Now THAT sounds like a gym. Is there a neighborhood gym membership at your place? :driving:

Ha ha! I have loaned my equipment to people but stopped when one person rusted a spinner bike and another managed to destroy the hydraulics in a treadmill! Cost me a fortune!

I just find it easier to stagger downstairs to my gym than get civilised enough to go to a public one!

Spinner: I hate gyms. Hate working out in front of people. I want to make our basement a workout zone at some point, right now it's our main TV/gaming area. Sucks that people have ruined your equipment in the past :(

Holly: I have printed that sheet out! Thanks :) May have to skip/change some of them depending how my knees react but I like it :)
